Sorry, played through it 4 times now, 100% it and never noticed any input lag that affects the game in a negative way.
I found the input lag really frustrating. It ruined the combat for me. However, I think they fixed the input lag on the PC version.
I have seen more impressive setpieces in TR2013 than Uncharted 4 (the collapsing palace, for one), I think. Or at least on-par.
TR does nothing better than U4. TR doesn't have great puzzles, platforming or exploration either. It tried, but it's just as restricted as any of the Uncharted games. At the very least when you do a mindless puzzle in Uncharted it tends to look really cool.
TR2013 felt like a game that didn't ever feel comfortable in its own skin. It tried to copy a lot of stuff from other games and never committed to any of its elements, so it's overall very noncommittal and halfhearted. Its a very uncertain game.
Best thing TR2013 has is the bow. I liked using the bow. I'm also a sucker for weapon upgrading.
Sadly, TLoU has the superior bow gameplay. Weapon upgrade system is done better in that game as well.
It's very similar to something like Dante's Inferno. Tried to copy a working formula, tried to add its own flavor, but didn't outdo the source(God of War) in any single way.
It's a different lesser version. Something to play while something better comes out.
...Right.
I can't agree. UC4 is a master-class in action-adventure game design and storytelling. The Tomb Raider Reboot was a decent game, but I honestly couldn't bring myself to finish it.
Interesting you don't see much difference in the climbing from U3. Climbing and the motion physics are probably my favorite improvement so far. The way the characters interact with the environment is a real treat and some of the smoothest I've ever seen.
It's true the climbing itself can sometimes be a little mind-numbing, but still I appreciate the clever way the platforms are integrated with the environment.
Have to admit not being able to get into TR. Nothing wrong with it and it's a finely crafted and great looking, but never really want to keep playing.
I definitely noticed how there's less "error" involved in U4's climbing compared to previous Uncharteds (I have to fight the controller less), but I don't see how it has functionally improved otherwise.
I gave examples that showed why I think this is not the case.
The ordinary TR13 puzzle is more clever and uses more items and game mechanics than your ordinary U4 puzzle (crate pulling lol).
Eh I can kinda see what you mean but I feel like it committed well to the puzzle-item-environment platter. You unlock new items, they unlock new areas and let you solve new puzzles and climb to new places. This is consistent throughout the whole game and just layers upon itself.
Agreed.
Ehhh, I dunno. Haha.
U4 hada collapsing clock tower and a collapsing building in Libertalia...that scale of collapsing architecture is very common in TR13.
I just remembered the jeep setpiece, which is yea, pretty great, I admit. Better than what I have seen in TR.
Uncharted 4 feels every bit like an adventure. It's a more laid back game then Tomb Raider, with the banter between characters, and navigating the rather huge environments.
It's a stunning game, that surpasses even Tomb Raider, which is no small feat.
But maybe there's just a bit too much environment navigation? I never really had a fear of dying during those moments, so it was really just a matter of getting through them, to further things. Worse still I disliked the combat. I mean, the enemies are bullet sponges, and it's downright annoying.
Uncharted and TR have similar elements but they aren't trying to do the same thing. TR reboot went with XP, open world exploration and boredom.
Uncharted was more telling a story and incredible set pieces. Even with so called "wide-linear" in UC4, exploration isn't the focal point, puzzles are or have never been important.
Overall, I vehemently disagree.
Tomb Raiders set pieces are atrocious.... Like, holy shit are they bad.I have seen more impressive setpieces in TR2013 than Uncharted 4 (the collapsing palace, for one), I think. Or at least on-par.
Functionally you have full analog control over Drake and where he is reaching, and can use the analog stick to reach out to hand holds and he will grab them and move to the next in a realistic faction, which didn't exist at all as a mechanic in the previous games.
People will burn you here, but I agree with you, TR2013 as a game is really fun to play. Can't wait for Rise to launch on PS4.
I still haven't played UC4 because all I heard is how much they focus on the story and I'm not particularly interested in the story

I've been going through the UC collection and just recently stopped in the middle of U2 because the non-combat gameplay is basically nonexistent. The games actually make me angry because they look so fucking good yet all you do in them is run around and occasionally "climb" through pointing in directions and pressing the X button. It pretty much ruined my desire to get U4, which was reasonably high beforehand.
I was actually considering playing through the TR: Definitive Edition to get a second opinion on how I feel about the two series. I might actually skip all the cutscenes though lol. The story is absolutely horrendous. That is one area Uncharted is absolutely superior.
UC4 is a master class in making your game worse to serve narrative purposes.
Maybe they didn't have their TV on game mode, or other factors.
My experience still stands. I didn't notice any negative effects of any input lag and the game was a joy to play.
People are still saying this? Wow...
Uhhh wut.
Sadly yes. The combat hasn't improved after all of these years.
They just feel like a cheap direct to DVD version of what Uncharted does. TheThey're impressive in scale and action. I remember jumping off a burning palace onto a helicopter and falling off a mountain down a river past treacherous wooden spikes.
They're not particularly memorable or defining, unlike Uncharted. But they're nothing atrocious IMO.
People say it every night, every morning, every afternoonLong OP can be boiled down to not enough action, same as all the other long, wordy posts made about the subject.
