I hope they fix the lightsaber problem that plagued the 2004 editions.

Really? You really don't understand why the changed that?

Person A: Anakin redeemed himself when he killed the Emperor (so Hayden shouldn't be there).

Person B: No he didn't.

Damn.

What, how does shit like that even happen? Isn't there a guy at the end who checks the movies and notices thing like these :S

Maybe. Remember, there has still never been a proper release of the original cuts on DVD. Lucas gave them a crappy non-anamorphic widescreen transfer then (which means the letterboxing was hardcoded in). He'll find a way to screw them up again if he does include them, out of pure spite.
4:3 1080p.

Hayden has no place there. Fucking apologists.
So why not make Obi Wan into Ewan MacGregor. It is pointless and stupid. Hayden should NOT be the ghost.

And to all those saying no originals or no sale, I guess you wont be buying it. I might even make a ban bet that they are not on there. (I am not...yet). The odds of Lucas adding the original untouched versions is about as likely as him making a sequel to Howard the Duck.

People can bitch and moan all they want, but at the end of the day Lucas created and still owns Star Wars, so he can do pretty much what he wants, however crazy it may seem.

The sad truth is that they will. Each and every one of them. Ive never seen a clearer example of battered wife syndrome than in Star Wars fans.

That black splotch of paint to the left on the Emperor's left eye (from our point of view) has always bothered me. WHAT IS IT? >_< :lol

Surely all of this is just a lame April Fools joke?

I hope they do some serious restoration for this release. The region 2 DVDs were "too good" making it very easy to spot that certain tie fighters were edited onto the space background. Looked like some ms paint job & I really don't remember that from when I was a kid? You could clearly see squared shaped outlines around the fighers when they flew past the screen. Looked awful.

What changes were made for the 2004 DVDs? Any more pictures of that?

this is how i feel.

I know you get the fans who think it belongs as much to them as it does him, but I just view my old vhs tapes if i want the proper star wars experience. the changes hear and there annoy me but the story hasnt changed(except our impression of han being a cold killer).

That entire scene should just be taken out, it's never looked right and doesn't really add much.

did any of the new scenes in the special editions add anything?

Nope.

The CG dance number from ROTJ is far more egregious than even Greedo shooting first.

I can blink and not pay attention and pretend that Han shot first.

That fucking Dance number in ROTJ just goes on and on and on and on...and on and on and one

Dude, the banthas and the dewbacks in the background when they are searching the escape pod seriously add tension and real drama to the scene. So much more intense. :D

I don't think he actually died, unless of course Luke killed him or he got skewered off screen by that Jabba guard.

he fell into the sarlacc, i am guessing that was lucas killing him off but expanded universe made it that he managed to escape.

Yeah, for a whole minute and a half.

So in the EU, Random Black Helmet Jabba Guard lives on. Nice.

I'd take slight issue with that. The scene with Biggs and Luke in the hangar did help flesh out a character whose death lacked any real emotional impact in the original cut. Of course that was old footage, shot before George Lucas lost his mind.

Hahah i meant Boba Fett, and I think the person who replied also meant him. In the EU I think he blasts his way out of the Sarlacc or something....

One thing that gets me about Lucas is that he's trying to 'clean up' the original trilogy and all that, but stuff that I was expecting to get fixed, like the stormtrooper hitting his head on the doorway, didn't?! I guess that's a sacred moment he felt the fans would miss or something, but let's make greedo shoot first too.

I feel like not including the original cuts would seriously impact the sales... but maybe I'm just being too hopeful.

That said, who's going to a) have a blu-ray player and b) want star wars? Answer: informed nerds for the most part. So they'd be insane not to include it.

Random tardbucket hitting his head on the doorway = sacred

Digitally inserting Hayden Christensen at the end of ROTJ = a-okay

Lucas-logic at work!

I also don't understand how Lucas approved most of the CG that was in the theatrical release of A New Hope:SE. It looked like GARBAGE.

:lol I cannot unsee that now everytime I watch TDK.

the helmet was just an error in filming, i can understand changing the shooting order because that was an error that effected lucas vision of the characters.
