That was unbelievable.

Was just driving home listening to talk sport and Stan Collymore is making the argument that we shouldn't be too hard on Luis as he obviously is in need of psychological help after three separate biting incidents. He says Luis obviously doesn't want to bite people.

I have to say, I don't agree at all that he should get a pass because of that. You could apply the same argument to rapists, murders, bank robbers, pedophilles, basically anyone who does something illegal or just wrong.

To me, I get the impression Luis feels sorry for himself for getting caught, rather than the person he has bitten. He always trys to cover it up by acting like he is the injured party.

Basically, he's a fucking arsehole.

People wondering why Suarez didn't get beaten up likely don't watch much soccer. Generally it is discouraged to actually physically attack players, outside tackles ect.

It's terrible form, but while FIFA can throw the book at Suarez, their recent attitude of being absolute cowards when it comes to players and world cup picks doesn't exactly inspire hope of them doing much, other than maybe being sufficiently pressured to slap a match ban on the guy. They certainly won't kick the team out of WC or anything like that.

Wait what? so the replays we see in TV arent played at the stadium?

Referee can't use video technology for decisions so stadiums aren't allowed to show them. Stadiums have shown them before, but they are not supposed to.

I think the stadiums do show the goal line technology replays though, as you can hear the cheering and whatnot when it is shown.

Shouldn't matter. Biting is not in some grey area between assault and physical play. If it would get you arrested for doing it outside the game, it should be punished as such.
Of course it should.

And in the eyes of the law, there is a difference between what Suarez did and biting someones ear off too.

I believe they play them, but refs have to be blind to them, so they aren't replayed if it's controversial. In the 06 World Cup Final, Zidane was sent off after after the ref saw it on the big screen.

I like how he flops like a pussy after biting the dude.

The WC has been entertaining so far but yeah... Soccer gonna soccer.

I don't know where he's getting the notion that Suarez doesn't want to bite people when he's done it three different times now.

Of course it should.

Well, if you feel that way, alright. Have fun with your bites, I guess.

He shouldn't just be banned for the rest of the tournament. He received a ten game ban by the FA for the last incident. FIFA should ban him for at least 15-20 games. He should never be allowed to play another WC game.

The fuck did Suarez fall over for? That kind of wimp act wouldn't fly in hockey.
Gotta try to shift the blame

Garbage like this is why I only watch soccer for a few weeks every other year. It just makes my blood boil watching a gutless pussy like him get away with this crap and it drags the entire sport down with him.

So what Uruguay commentators/fans saying about Suarez's bite. Are they praising him as a hero like in 2010, indicating that in your eyes, he can do no wrong? Or do you actually have standards and are condemning him for it?

If I was the guy who got bitten, I'd have punched the asshole.

If someone bites you I think it's only fair to fight back. Dude thinks he's a superstar (he might be in his home country) and untouchable. I'd remind him about the real world.

fifa fined zidane and materazzi after their world cup, so I can see them doing the same thing here, but for real I thought at first he tripped but he just went in on that shoulder, god damn

Again, he's never got away with this.

And it's very, very rare in the sport for these incidents to occur.

He bites another player, then dives after him to pretend he's the injured victim and the ref does absolutely nothing. No wonder some people think football is a joke at times.
FIFA has to ban him from rest of the WC or he'll just keep biting people in future without any fear of consequences. This is his 3rd fucking time.

Former Liverpool player pundit in excusing Liverpool player shocker.

Wonder if he takes the same stance regarding knocking women about.

FIFA won't do anything. This guy is untouchable.

As a casual soccer fan, who basically shows up to watch the WC and a few other major events , these type of things are really what turn me off from the sport. I like to watch the games, but it seems like every game has issues with officiating or dirty play.

Two things need to happen now for the sport to walk away from this with any credibility left whatsoever.

First, Suarez needs to go on a lengthy ban (1 year plus) so he can get his shit together and for an example to be set for the rest of the world.

Second, refs need to severely punish any and all perceived instances of diving and embellishment. This has to stop, it's becoming too embedded in the sport. I don't know what the solution is - not a yellow card, because that's just a warning and not a punishment. I don't know, maybe yellow card then a match ban for diving?

This is as high as it gets, for god's sake. The World Cup. We should not be seeing this on the world stage. I'm not even a football fan, but this is a total farce. Your sport is a fucking laughing stock. Fix it.

What sports do you watch then?

Ah, Stan Collymore, clearly an expert when it comes to violent football players in need of psychological help. I mean, who in their right mind would've slapped Ulrika about in her heyday?

Shut up Stan you wife beating bellend.

Edit

Beaten like ulrika

I hope FIFA ban him from the sport for a lengthy period of time. There is no place in the game for this kind of behaviour and FIFA need to come down hard. I don't care how misunderstood he is or what kind if issues he has, it sets a bad example to kids.
