iMac HDD just died. Shit. Just got Mountain Lion too a few days ago. :(
Do you have a backup of your data? As long as you have a backup of your stuff, you will never be "screwed". Computers can be fixed. But data can't be recreated. Also Mountain Lion will be waiting for you again once you get a new HDD.

Has this update screwed up anybody else's Dropbox configurations? I can no longer right click on a file to copy the public link. I have to manually find and enter in the URL if I want to post the specific image now. :(
Are you using the newest version?

I'm not too worried, I bought AppleCare for a reason. Just unhappy about the situation of course.

I figured an option would pop up asking me to update by now or at least an option in preferences to update. Couldn't find a damn thing and decided to just download it off Dropbox's website. Thanks.
Did it fix it? Because I read that DropBox's new update was released to fix the problems ML caused. Just like when Lion came out. DB integrates itself into the Finder like a tick burying its head. It's understandable there'd be problems at first.

Been using ML for a few days now. It's definitely nice, though I haven't noticed that it's faster than Lion yet.

I have one minor complaint. Maybe I'm in the minority but I heavily use the app folder in my Dock to start my apps and since Mountain Lion the scrolling speed when using a mouse wheel (don't have a trackpad: Mac Mini) is painfully slow. On Lion it would almost go down the whole list when I scrolled once but on Mountain Lion it only goes down two rows of icons. So to get to the bottom of the list I have to scroll continuously and that is kind of annoying. I haven't noticed a scrolling difference with other apps yet so it's a little weird.

I used to do this too but I switched to Spotlight and never looked back.

So guys, I got an issue. My Lion Macbook harddrive got corrupted or something a few days ago and I have been working to fix it ever since. Long story short, I got Mountain Lion installed on it fresh. I then used Migration Assistant to restore my user and apps (same user name so it overwrote the admin one that I just made), basically everything.

After that, it all seemed fine, except I can't open a few apps. Reminder and Notes on the dock are what I tried, didn't go through every app. It just never opens and has an error. I thought maybe it was because I migrated my apps or something.

Reopened the Mountain Lion install, and it still showed me the choice to install 10.8 so I just went ahead with it, hoping it basically reinstalls/repairs it without losing my data. Was that ok to do? It's currently installing, just wanted an idea if I am doing it wrong.

edit: ok it finished, and I can now open those apps. But did I make a big mess out of my OS?

Odd. If everything is working now, I would assume everything is okay...

Just installed it. That swoosh-animation in Safari's address bar is really annoying.

edit: Just had a look at the 200 feature list. As always a good laugh. Every single share button/menu in every app counts as one feature, in addition to the share button, the menu items and the sharing themselves. Prompts for unsaved documents and the iCal sidebar are "new" features as well, right.

I'm hoping someone can help me. For some reason Safari is not working in Google Docs for me. In safari when I open Google Docs, I can intermittently not edit cells or even click on things. This problem only happens in Safari and only in Google Docs.

I had this problem a few times before updating, but it is happening a lot more now. Almost constantly.

Does anyone know if Safari 6 has a compatibility problem with Google Docs or is this just my machine?

Can someone help me please, I have a bunch of old Safari Plugins I want to get rid of, under

/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/

I can't trash them, can't even modify the permissions, can't authenticate by clicking the padlock, it does nothing.

Tried 'sudo rm -f' but it just tells me the file is a directory (it isn't). Can't chmod my permissions on. What the fuck?

So, apple sent me another mountain lion code. Does it matter what computer it's installed on? If not, i'm just going to give it to one of my friends.

Quick question that might have been answered. On the specs needed for ML it says that you need 8GB free. My wife only has 4GB free. If I used the USB install method, can I get away with only having 4GB free? My wife is having a hard time freeing up the space on her laptop.

I'm assuming you have an 8GB usb stick? Why not move some files over temporarily to make 8gb free on t he laptop, install it, and then put back the files assuming there is enough space.

Whenabouts do you guys think airs will be appearing in stores with ML already installed? Nothing like getting new hardware and software at the same time.

I asked her to do that, but she got mad at me and said she didn't have time. So I don't want to fuck with her files if I don't have to.

How big is her drive? What did she fill it with? I bet a lot of her stuff can be thrown away. She just doesn't want to bother. She's a file hoarder. And she's just going to get mad if you try to clean up her drive.

lol got mad, tell her to figure it out herself then, ungrateful woman!

No but really, she's gotta have some junk on there she can delete. Or you can do the transfering for her so she won't complain. You said she has 4gb free, that's before downloading ML right? Because if it's after, then yea you can make the USB a boot drive and then delete ML for 8gb free.

At least 10% of a drive should be free at any one time (I think the rule is 10%). Digital cleaning need to be done!

She's a graphic designer, so she has tons of files she uses for projects and stuff. She should be backing everything up anyways. I keep telling her that, but who knows if she does. I finally convinced her to make space.. We'll see if it happens anytime soon. :/

I updated a few days ago and Safari has begun to occasionally close randomly when I am browsing the internet. My laptop is pretty new, I think it is the late 2011 model. Has anyone else encountered this same problem.

Oh darn. Candybar does nothing for Mac App Store apps.

Damn it, I wish they had forced iOS icons on us. The uniformity... so nice. Or it would be if Apple didn't suck at icon design.

At least I can change the iTunes/AppStore/Launch pad logos. The internet has much better taste than Apple, it would seem =).

Can't you delete them through Safari?

Anyone notice Mountain Lion affecting their MacBook Pro battery life one way or the other? I can't tell for certain but it I think my battery might be draining a bit quicker than usual, even when doing relatively light tasks.

As good as Safari is, it's taking up 500mb's of ram doing nothing, which is terrible for my POS 2007 Macbook Pro with 2gb of ram :p

Intalled an SSD into this thing to give it extra life while I look for another computer, so far so good. I used a new MBP for a while and I greatly miss the awesome new trackpads and their gestures

Does it not take any more RAM? It's so cheap and it would give your computer another lease on life.

Man, now hot corners don't work unless I restart the system.

I hope Apple patches this soon. I suppose restarting isn't the end of the world, but I'll admit that minute start time and the time to takes to open up everything is painful every time I sit through it. lol

Mine's got better. I don't know exactly what they've done, but they've made it way less aggressive about switching to the discrete GPU when an app uses a lot of animations, and the couple of times I've used it on battery since ML have had much slower battery drainage as a result.

Hm, interesting. What year is your model? I'll be paying closer attention to see for sure if/how performance has changed over the next few days. Maybe do a power cycle as well, it's been a while.

Is this a known bug? I have had no issues with hot corners.

For those who used the ctrl+scroll to zoom into the screen it's turned off by default on Mountain Lion. Re-enable through System Preferences > Accessibility > Zoom. Random yes but I find myself using it quite a bit, surprisingly.
