That would be the logical conclusion. THey've funded the pro-russians and have pretended that we are all stupid and can't see video/pictures of their troops/weapons used by the pro-russian forces.

Surface to air missiles can shoot way higher and further than 33,000 feet and have been able to for decades. In the 60's the Soviets were able to shoot down a U-2 spy plane which can cruise at 70,000 feet. Modern SAM's have lateral ranges of several hundred miles.

Thats right. Alas, those kind of missiles usually are solid fuel propelled, so with todays satellite imagery it should be possible to pinpoint the launch site to within a couple meters.

I meant "noise" as in complicated situation, not actual sound. Like why would you want your commercial plane with 300 passengers near a war zone?

The main guy at the end is asked "what was this plane doing this space". He replies something along the lines of "it was transporting spies. This is what happens in war,". He sound chillingly dismissive.

The rebels have BUK and some of the rebels are former Ukraine soldiers so they could have someone trained with BUK. They have shot down at least 3 Ukrainian military aircraft already, so it wouldn't be far fetched if they show down a civilian plane at higher altitude, this time with BUK.

It wouldn't make sense if Ukraine brought it down because the plane was already deep within ukraine territory and rebels don't have aircraft to shoot down.

I don't think they knew what they were doing. They probably thought they were shooting down a military target.

That's what happens when you put advanced weaponry in inexperienced hands.

It's still horrible though and those responsible need to be punished.

This makes the most sense to me. Rebels did it in an uncoordinated attack against an alleged ukraine plane. A tragic mix-up.
