I wonder if anyone here reads this manga. It's pretty great, with an over-reaching arc that stays pretty consistent. Funny too!

Yeah i also read it but i wait a few months stop and start again .
Last arc i stop at was the Phanom Portrait arc .

Esprit

An awesome display of a unique power and a creative way to beat it in the same chapter. I fuckin love this manga. This author is really good at shounen tactics and hot-blooded situations. I hope Fukashigi Philia is like that too. The extra chapter was also cute.

Its alright but the over reaching arc is taking too long imo.

Highschool of the Dead vol 1

The beginning of this manga is pretty hilarious. So Takashi sees this random fight and murder at the front door and the first thing that comes to his mind is go and warn his childhood friend? And then they go and arm themselves with brooms and baseball bats? wut

Anyway it's standard zombie cliches and so on. Seems odd how bunch of kids figured out the head weakness, while the TV broadcasts didn't even bother mentioning it which makes me believe they have no idea about it or just don't give a fuck.

Comparing this with the first volume of The Walking Dead, I feel that TWD did it much better. It doesn't have the boobs and pantyshots, but it had better action and drama. It also didn't have some stupid pinky promise shit.

Nah i like watching them grow up plus when it gets to that point i don't see the manga going on much longer afterwards.
Right now they around 14 i think so 4 more years until the event in the future happens if i remember right .

They're only 12 now (MAYBE 13).

Bought volume 23 of Fairy Tail after dropping it around volume 12 or 13 because it was available as a limited edition that came with a special issue called Weekly Sorcerer.
If there is one thing Mashima does well, is the fanservice, as the opening and closing color pages of Weekly sorcerer attest to. Maybe I'll try to catch up on the old volumes in the future.
Yeah, mashima doesn't use cheap tricks like panty shots and knows how to show dem body figures, legs and absolute territory.

Now that you mention it I don't ever recall seeing Mashima draw a panty shot for Lucy. Guy got class lol

Bleach

Editor: Well it looks like you've dropped in ratings significantly after introducing the new powers, and you might get cancelled if this keeps up.

Kubo: Oh fuck it. I'll just reintroduce the shinigami stuff and let the fan favourite characters kill off the new characters.

Editor: Well.. can you do it faster? Survey shows that readers think that you're taking way too long with your fights.

Kubo: Sure, at least one death per chapter then.

Needs three deaths per chapther.

And add some quick backstory so it seems they are actual characters.

The only thing i'm interested now is the
Spirit King, The Division that deals with SK's protection and Ichigo's family secret

There's some drama later and some character developmet, which is quite bad still, the only reediming factor is the number of deaths and stupidity of some characters...ah, and kendo girl...., nothing like girls on stockings and katanas slaughtering zombies.

Edit: Shame that translation is stuck on chapter 29....

I was surprised to know that Hirano is actually based on Hellsing's mangaka. lol

Kendo girl is awesome. I remember her stockings from the anime.

Seems like the manga been on hiatus for few months now. And with it being a monthly series, it must have sucked for people reading it.

Fairy Tail

Wait, wait, the entire main part of the guild might not actually be dead? How shocking! I'm amazed... :p

They aren't back yet, though. Instead, the current members of the new (seven years later), small and pathetic Fairy Tail, along with Blue Pegasus, are going to try to bring back the main cast. On that note, other than introducing a whole bunch of the not-too-exciting members of the new Fairy Tail (Macao is the guildmaster, and I recognized Levy's two underlings, but I'm not so sure about the rest of them...). Oh, the kid from the end of the last chapter is Macao's son Romeo.

So yeah, decent chapter. I'm not exactly surprised that the main cast will probably be coming back, but nor am I too unhappy about it, sure they did a really stupid thing in staying, but wiping out most of the cast would be pretty crazy (and sad, for fans of the characters) a plot twist.

I wonder if they will have aged in the interim...

Lucy pantyshots do exist, but they are not common, certainly. He prefers dark shadows and torn clothing (that somehow almost never reveals the panties) to pantyshots, and yeah, it might take a bit more effort than just filling it full of panties would... (he doesn't draw bras often either, apart from the "welcome to Fairy Hills" chapter I can't remember it ever being shown that Lucy had one on, and her shirts do get frequently torn. I remember it there because it was the only time I can ever remember seeing one (not counting the wrap top she had in Galena Island, etc.), and she has to take off her clothes in favor of that catgirl outfit like three pages into the chapter anyway.)

So yeah, Fairy Tail has a lot of fanservice, but it's not just constant underwear shots.

So decided to start reading Mirai Nikki after stopping part way into it.
At the fight with the 7th right now, but read the other side/alternative stories. Paradox's end was interesting. About the main story I still feel like the main character has no good points about him and can't see why God choose him.

It just seems to me like if the guild was filled with a bunch of sad-sacks like that, it would make sense to just leave and find a guild that's not horribly depressing.

Gamaran vol 1

Gama is a pretty cool character. The fights in the first volume were good and the last one left me wanting for more. Next month I'll grab the other volumes available here for sure.

Bakuman

The page of Heishi returning home was great.

Looks like it's finally moving towards their new series now since Eiji is back in the mix.

It looks like most people did leave. After all, there are just a relative few of them left compared to the number that used to be Fairy Tail members. These last few just aren't willing to give up on Fairy Tail, despite everything.

March Story vol 3

This volume was pretty sweet, as all the Ill this time were "nice" instead of the usual warped evil beings. Mrs. Beaver was especially nice, even though they made her look quite sinister in some panels and March in a wedding dress was lovely.

Persona 4 - 14

Yukiko route will be the true route. This applies equally to the anime.

I have a soft spot for this series. It's mainly the interplay between The Children and PANDRA, plus the moral ambiguity surrounding the latter's behaviour/status as 'villians' that's kept me interested. 'Course, then Black Phantom had to show up and ruin everything a bit by being such an obviously nasty bastard.

Bakuman

I've always seen Muto Ashirogi's team and mangas based on Ohba and Obata's experience with Death Note, and also influenced by Sket Dance. My opinion anyway, after reading the part where Himeko had to be Bossun's maid striked me as the kind of stuff that Muto Ashirogi was doing; a one chapter arc that kinda changes the manga in a whole.

Nizuma however is definitely Eichiro Oda; insane detail in his mangas (he even created a few clothing lines for the One Piece world that the regular people wear) and over-reaching arcs (Hebihime was shown YEARS before her first real appearance in the manga, and Sabo was hinted via the sake saucers, not to mention Luffy's grandpa).

Still though, sometimes it's so hard to read the manga due to the walls of text.

Bakuman (ch 150) -psychological torture, breaking the fourth wall, get it?

FFS, I was already grimacing since I knew we would awkwardly shift right back to the competition with Eiji. No disappointment there unfortunately. The EiC transfer and the office stir had potential to mix up the status quo...yet I'm not seeing anything like that. But we have yet ANOTHER simultaneously announced similar manga directions from two parties? OMG let's do an atypical protagonist. Hey I know, I'll definitely be doing a dark protagonist.

The real pain of the chapter was the guys mentioning past escapades of theirs which were way more interesting then the current. Get ready for a dozen chapters of formulating new ideas and being shocked at Eiji's new series.
__D__

Kagami no Kuni no Harisugawa (ch 13) -It would be trippy to put a mirror with a viewfinder in front of another mirror with a viewfinder

-Looks at color page
-Sees what Mao is doing showing scissors based on the "rock, paper, scissors" theme
-No problem there
-Sees what Tetsu is thinking of in his drawing
-Looks back at Mao
-Realizes that I have made a connection that is not what was intended
-Makes appointment with psychiatrist

Anyway, my warped brain aside, this chapter could have at least wrapped up things with Mao/Tetsu post advice from Saki. This really isn't a type of event that needs 40 pages but we at least get an important question from Mao at the end. Next chapter should be a total dodge and then Tetsu gets to explain.

Saki is the best character in the manga.
__C__

Kure-nai (ch 41.5-42) -shounen, romance, action

Kure-nai has been mundane for quite awhile. It only perked up with the Kirihiko intro arc. However, now it has steered towards Ginkos back-story with her grandfather, another information broker, who disappeared. Of course everyone coincidentally meets up on departure and is going.

Yamie is going too though which gives bonus points. She is after-all the best character in the manga.

A bit more dialogue from that chapter. I'll spoiler just in case...

Zenkichi: I love Medaka-chan.
Zenkichi: That's why // I'll oppose her.
Zenkichi: Since the age of 2, i've been standing beside her.
Zenkichi: I always wanted to turn into a person who could protect her.
Zenkichi: But // I understood that Medaka-chan wasn't in need of such a person.
Zenkichi: If I can't stand beside her as the person who protects, then i'll become the person who opposes.
Ajimu: I've to confirm this Hitoyoshi-kun
Ajimu: Hitoyoshi Zenkichi-kun
Ajimu: Are you really fine with that?
Zenkichi: it's fine
Zenkichi: I might not be right about it one way or another...
Zenkichi: If I can be standing beside her by,
Zenkichi: becoming an enemy
Zenkichi: becoming evil
Zenkichi: becoming a perfect human
Zenkichi: becoming a main protoganist, then i'll do it.
Ajimu: That's it! I've been wanting to hear those words Zenkichi!
Ajimu: A man who only wants to protect a woman is not the person I'd want to turn into a main protagonist.
Zenkichi: ...That said, Anshin-san

Zenkichi: Even if I beat Medaka-chan as you planned
Zenkichi: The one who might destroy the Flask plan next, might be me
Zenkichi: Because at that point (note: after beating medaka) the flask plan would be unnessarily for me anymore
Zenkcihi: Oh well, since it's you we're talking about, you've probably calculated that much ahead.
Zenkichi: Let's decide after having a look at it is from your side...

*jumps behind the 5*
Ajimu: It's done
Ajimu: Medaka-chan VS Hitoyoshi-kun // scenario is finished

small skip

Maguro: That's right- and realistically speaking, there's not an even a 50 percentage succes rate.
Maguro: In a battle between heroes, the hero that's more heroic comes out as winner of course.
Maguro: That's why I don't think that Zenkichi will be able to beat Medaka-chan, Anshin-san.
Ajimu: How straightforward // as expected from Medaka's siblings.
Ajimu: In a battle between heroes, the person who's more heroic wins.
Ajimu: That's what I agree about and also // That why i'm betting on Zenkichi taking victory.
Maguro: ...?
Ajimu: In other words, Medaka-chan has a flaw // An important flaw for a main protagonist.
Ajimu: That child, killed her own father.

Naze: What are you talking about? Kurokami's father is alive!
Naze: Because he's also our father,
Naze: He should be working hard today on his business in a healthy state!!
Ajimu: Aaah
Ajimu: You're wrong
Ajimu: The father i'm speaking off // is not Kurokami Kajiki-kun from the kurokami group.
Ajimu: It's not him // it's
Ajimu: Kurokami Medaka's other father that i'm speaking of.
Naze: A different father...?
Ajimu: That's right- but spare me from going in on this any further.
Ajimu: Whether you believe it or not, it's selfish but keep it a secret guys. *
Ajimu: Especially from Hitoyoshi-kun, don't let him ever know about this.

skip

Kumagawa: 「What an cowardly thing to do, Medaka-chan...」「Who would've thought」
Kumagawa: 「To launch a surprise attack on the enemy even before training...」
Akune: um, well Kumagawa-san // You know you did that to us some time ago, right?
Wanizuka: ...What are you guys talking about!
Wanizuka: You're not planning to stop them? Senpais?
Akune: It's not like // we don't want to stop them...
Akune: It's unstoppable
Akune: Since hitoyoshi-kun said that to Medaka-san

Wanizuka: Even if it's Kurokami-dono...
Wanizuka: With everyone here, we could...
Akune: You don't understand Wanizuka-san, the one that can't be stopped is Zenkichi
Akune: All of us know that too well.

Floating text: And so, the one who knows it more then anyone else-

Medaka: Good, good, you still have some energy left Zenkichi.
Medaka: In that case, how about I let you have a taste of my new technique?
Medaka: Just a while ago, I named it "Forsaken god mode"

Bakuman

So there are no interventions for Nanamine? No group meetings to get him back on the right track and make him learn his lesson? Oh well I guess they don't want the character in the story anymore.

I wonder what's the significance of the editor in chief quitting. I was thinking Jump would get a new one that will act as a villain that will go against Mashiro and Takagi, but this new dude seems too good for a villain.

My guess is Nananime will be given another chance on the new magazine. Then it'll be an all out war between two rival magazines on who has the most sales.

That would be great Bakuman has been missing that Jump rivalry with the other weekly Shonen mags.

Yep. Plus, considering that it's a fiction-based shonen mag, they have the freedom to dictate how it is.

One Piece

Well this manga is going places. I just realised that the whole One Piece world consists of islands... so well, could it be somewhat like a Waterworld-ish thing?

Maybe a great war happened in the past, and most of the land was submerged in water, killing many. One man, "D" saw to not let this happen again, and hid the great weapon that caused the destruction somewhere no man could get it. Most of the survivors though got paranoid, and set to destroy all records of history during the great flood.

Of course, he realised that people might repeated the same mistakes the past did, and sent the ship Noah to the Mermen for safekeeping. So that in a time of crisis, when the world might get submerged again, at least the Mermen could save the humans by sending the ship to them.

And Luffy's assistance during this arc helps most of them mermen forgive what has happened to them in the past, to help the humans during the time in need.

Now come to think about it, we haven't seen the water-element beriberi fruit yet. And considering that most of the One Piece is covered in water, maybe that is the strongest fruit available?

edit: Oh god, sorry for the speculations, probably had too much to drink.

Wait, how did you come up with this theory after reading One Piece up to current events? It's like you missed/forgot half of the backstory already revealed. It's already been shown in Robin's flashback at Enies Lobby that the World government is the direct descendent of the side that won the war fought during the void history. Also, that the losing side erected Poneglyphs to preserve their history and reveal the locations to multiple weapons of mass destruction that they hid.

Considering there is plenty of evidence of the world of One Piece always consisting of multiple islands (the idea that islands each have their own unique ecosystem as mentioned by Vivi on Little Garden, Pluton being built on Water 7, odd references to islands before the void century) there's no reason to speculate that the world's current landscape is a result of the events 800 years ago.

All evidence so far points towards the "Will of D" originating from a country, rather than a specific person.

Bakuman

This is going nowhere.

Harisugawa, The Worst Guy Ever

The ever worst ever guy worse.

Oh, so horrible.

I really hope Saki doesn't dodge so we can at least get her out of the way.

Then Mao can pick another girl from that one photo and rinse repeat until all girls are gone besides herself.

I would place Satellizer there since her character is colorful enough but the MC is really lame imo and the only thing that gives him relevance is his ability.

Football Girl vol 3

I had forgotten about this. I remember starting reading the first volume and being amused by the abundance of fanservice and over the top silliness of the characters.
The match was cool and the way they won is something that could only happen in a manga
no one would get fooled by a man dressing as a girl to substitute himself in real life
.
The nipple ticket as a reward for Yuuki was just too much.

Yankee-kun to Megane-chan vol 12

Those motherfuckers. Did they call Anna a whore? Suzuka is just an asshole for doing this.

Election results and twist was so obvious. Oh look Suzuka hates delinquents, but he was one before. What a shocker. I also didn't get Kagawa's new platform. Didn't make sense and I don't try to understand it since it probably won't be mentioned ever again.

I'm sure that has nothing to do with the fact that running in Jump, it's almost litearlly impossible that Jump would be anything other than totally dominant.

In reality of course, so long as Jump as One Piece, they're always going to dominate, but I think the comparison would be a lot closer if One Piece wasn't around given how popular Fairy Tail has become.
