He made eye contact with Rood when the kids first came to the tower, and was interested in him. We haven't been formally introduced yet though.
It took me forever to figure out that she was with the tutor, and wasn't umbrella girl. I guess I was expecting everything to be centered strictly around them, but didn't connect two and two until I reread the breakup again.
Speaking of which, the tutor was super skeevy. She was literally in elementary school.

I didn't realize he was 10 years older than Umaru. Ebina gonna get rekt by co-worker girl.
I mean, from the perspective of someone in Soma's position the pros and cons of agreeing to save her are as follows:
Pro: Erina is hot.
Con: Erina's a bitch to him all of the time; Erina lied about his food for no reason; Erina tried to get him expelled twice; Erina tried to prevent him from entering the Fall Classic.
Hilariously, Soma doesn't even care about what she looks like and he still agreed to it.
He actually kind of does have a shonen hero complex, really. He saved Megumi at risk of his expulsion (although he didn't care about Totsuki that much at that point), and he bet his career just to teach Mimisaka a special lesson about how important a cook's pride is and how defeat is a part of being a cook (In DTL speak, this is just a cover for the actual reason: getting revenge for his canonical off-screen boyfriend).
Yeah, the age gap is a little too big for my comfort, but that's never really stopped anyone in these kinds of series.

It was a creepy as fuck moment, but at the next page the story jumped again so I didn't think long about it.
But she comments in the closed shop how she has a bad love story with someone "smart", that's why she disliked them now. For me it's clear it was the teacher.

It doesn't bother me because I never assumed Ebina was ever going to really do anything about it or get anywhere; she just has a crush on an older guy, which happens all of the time in real life.
It's mostly a gag because Ebina lives in a state of being perpetually flustered and Taihei only makes it way worse.

This looks like it's heading to a civil war. I expect Kuga to be in the Polar Star dorm when they get there.

I've always gotten really Eyeshield-y vibes from Academia, it's part of why I like it so much.

Not that it's a bad thing, Sena is/was amazing.

Here we have the protagonist, a girl in an art school (nooo another one nooo!). She is a ‘good girl’, timid, but also a sleepy and a bit slow and dull.
I think her family and friends makes the story work even if they are clearly just secondary characters, as they are a bit more active, colorful and full of contrast than her. They have well expressed relationships with her, the friends behave like old friends who treats her as the “little child” of the group, the family really cares for her, etc. The protagonist for herself alone is too bland. That said they are fully "secondary", they are there as accessories to the protagonist.
What is it about? Well, I think this is the first Slice of Life I’ve seen from Kei Toume, here with a school theme. It really doesn’t happen a lot in this comic, honestly. Well, there is the obvious pseudo romantic sub-plot going on, but it isn’t more than... 1/5 of all the story.
I suspect this truly was going to be a longer story but the editor canceled it so it was finished in a single volume. There are a few subplots that start, like the the thing with the father, but they never finish (or even really get to start). Nor it had time for character development. All this considered, given the abruptness of the ending, the final chapter was somewhat acceptable.

I pretty much forgot everything, so I got to read it again wit ha fresh memory. The nonlinear time progression really isn't obvious at first, but dang, it's so good once you realize it. Great example of how a straightforward love story can be told in an interesting way.
