Have you read Asano's entire bibliography? Because that's a good place to start.

Eden! It's an Endless World is very needlessly grim and depressing.

There's also God's Child if you're feeling particularly snooty.

Can't say I like them but I did read Life is Money, sounds like that's what you want. It's pretty short.

Dresden recommended Mud a while ago. It's sort of got that tone, and it's a oneshot. It's romance though.

I always thought his manga suffered from the lack of women, but whatever floats his boat I guess. His works are definitely samey. It's too bad because I'm a fan of delinquents.

In this world people apparently have access to the most advanced and accurate state of the art translation software ever made, a software engineering problem that has had people in our world stumped for decades and likely for decades to come. I think the only thing I have not read here is Gunjo and God's Child. The former because it's still not finished ( I prefer to read it at one go instead of waiting for new chapters ) and for the latter, I am in the process of reading another work ( Kono Sekai no Owari e no Tabi ) from the same author. Both of them have very distinctive and recognizable art though which is naturally a plus point.

My taste is more along a combination of slice of life and drama that doesn't throw moral lessons right in your face. Probably why I adore Asano works.

I remember when they did Marika's Kyushu-ben in Nisekoi and I couldn't even understand what the characters were supposed to be saying because they overdid it.

Insufficient Direction

Finally found time to get around and read this. It was pretty weird and different from my expectations of the story. I knew one point of the story is to show how they are too nerdy and it's influencing their lives, but this was really filled with references every page. Thank god there was a glossary at the end that explained everything and gave more background details. Though I didn't bother reading all of it, too much time dedicated to Ultraman, Kamen Rider and other ripoffs of that kind. I didn't find it that funny and most of the jokes didn't work, but I don't think it mattered that much since it was an interesting account of how the Annos lived together. I wasn't sold on Moyoco Anno changing her appearance to a baby, but with the cartoony art style she picked, it was a good design choice, helped a lot with the lighthearted nature of the manga.

The currently airing Blue Blazes jdrama is a pretty good companion to this manga. It doesn't focus on Anno that much but it does give some more insights on his early days that were only briefly mentioned here. The drama is also pretty amusing despite the over the top acting and reactions that probably should have stayed in the original manga.

Online - the comic

First time reading a death game story with a femLead though its a pretty strong start. No matter how many of these stories (usually tied with cellphone or video game), they all end up feeling different, like the revival cost in this one. Nice star for a manga box series.
