girl by the sea - vol.2

It was alright. Sort of an aimless, wandering ending that I was okay with, but wasn't really satisfied by. The shit eating took me by surprise, even when I knew about it going in.

Koume turned into Chitanda at the end.

Most unsatisfying part about the ending was the Isobe transformation. Not sure if it's rushed or Asano couldn't come up with a better way to wrap up his story.

The baron is a pretty cool guy. I don't like that they sent away Mrs. Hoshino but I get it. Col. Sanders being a thing is lol. Wonder how they'll make everything feel wrapped up in the next volume.

Decided to read an Akito selection because the cover looked nice and it was actually available in English. Too bad it's boring as sin. A boy keeps getting confused for a girl, and is being hit on by every single guy he comes across. There is some sort of RPG-ish guild story going on with exploring a dungeon, but really, it's just a dull read.

I've bought the volumes released over here. Pretty art, some funny moments, but kinda... boring, yeah.

Planetes Overall Thoughts

Well, it felt shorter than it needed to be. The romance pacing always felt off although I'm glad that it wasn't a love at first sight marriage. The end speech was nice and the ending felt good. The characters were fine and I enjoyed the times when Hachi had his internal stuff. The fact that they all got their own backstory is nice as well.

I don't think it was superb but it was solid. The Baron was a pretty cool guy, would be his friend.

Finished it just now. I'm slightly confused since it's been awhile from where I had left off.

Things kind of went fast. There were some good parts here and there, but it wasn't consistent.

As for the whole story overall, not my kind of thing, but it was interesting.

Man, Teppu is so good. I want more.

Besides some rather entertaining fights and an authentic feel, it has this underlying twisted element to it. Everyone's a little crazy.

If Tanaka's dad was a wolf in sheep's clothing then he has definitely mastered the masquerade. If we didn't know the result of this relationship you'd have a hard time convincing me there was anything manipulative or crafty going on here. Dude's just harmless from the way he acts, really harmless

Great job Yasuoka! Although I guess this will go one for a while longer.

Welp that's that.

I rooted for Tadokoro but I can't be mad. If it wasn't for that awesome JoJo tribute last chapter or the
fundoshi undoing
I'd be salty but whatevs.

She went out a lot better than that scrub Alice that's for sure.

Almost definitely a crazy coincidence with NGNL. Maria casually offering to go buy it killed me for a good 5 minutes straight.

It's probably that dude who made it in after soma handed in his dish in the last arc.

Yup, same hair/jacket (ch. 59)

Soma 72

Hm. Highlighting that those three are fighting for someone else's sake was interesting. I guess it kinda ties back to what Soma's father said in chapter 1.

All the cool kids are doing it.

Umwelt (Oneshot)

A genetically engineered girl escapes from her home and the doctor that created her must pursue her with the help of military personnel.

Thought provoking sci-fi oneshot by Daisuke Igarashi. Lots of cool themes touched upon: the nature of humans, humanity's limits versus other animals, our possible future in space. The Umwelt stuff was also fascinating. In terms of the story, Okuda (the doctor) definitely stole the show. Just a really interesting characterization there.

For some reason, I never like the Yoshiwara arcs in Gintama, outside of the first one.

Strangely enough Yoshiwara seems to be about the only place where Sorachi actually does 'worldbuilding', but that's probably because most of the worldbuilding of Yoshiwara is already built for him.

Also, I'm not exactly sure if Sorachi has gotten better at drawing action or not.

The writer continually remains one of the most enjoyably predictable in the magazine, as the match proved exactly how I consistently stated with Tadokoro having nary a gram of a chance of winning and being crushed, destroyed, and downright annihilated by the awesome might and power of the stunning Kurokiba Ryou. Wouldnt have made sense for two members of the Polaris Dorm to advance or for Alice to go unavenged in the match, additionally Tadokoro has always been the weakest in the series and only made it this far by a fluke of a chance so it would have been OoC for her to triumph.Everything was just against it.

But looking to the future, its finally happening!

Wait, wait, if the old geezer realize his fudonshi just stripped before he write down the winner, what'll happen then?
Anyway I've no problem with Tadokoro losing, it was a fair match with awesomeness in the end. The author managed to make a lose feels satisfying.

Did we read the same chapter? Everyone was praising Megumi, including the judges, for how well she did. She was hardly "crushed, destroyed, and downright annihilated by the awesome might and power of the stunning Kurokiba Ryou" as you put it. It looks like spice guy and Erina's assistant are probably going to be going up against each other so that means Takumi would end up against the biker guy, where he would have a 0% chance of victory.

Bane? Get them on board, I'll call it in.

No surprise Tadokoro lost, but she put up a good fight, and it's nice to see she's not fazed by the loss, wanting to try harder.
The director losing his fudoshi will likely come into play later on.
And of course, set-up for the second half. Hopefully learning who the big guy with dreads is.

Why are you guys still trying to argue with DTL. It's pointless.

He sees mangas in a different perspective than you guys. Just enjoy his POV.

Plus he's a pretty cool guy even though I myself rarely agree with most of his views.

It's DTL. 70% chance he makes up his own dialogue that overwrites the words as he reads it

you're cool tho bro. I just don't inhabit your reality unfortunately

That's a pretty incredible choice of words.

I think I followed everyone on mangaf that I recognized on twitter, if there's anyone here I didn't bird yet and wants me to, either send me a PM with your bird or just follow me.
^ Quoting this again because I'm still missing a bunch of people and barely anyone reacted to this post.

I would be shocked if the object shiritori wasn't a No Game, No Life reference. The timing is too perfect.
It would have been a lot more blatant if it was, plus the episode was just barely aired in the middle of where this chapter would've been drawn.

I guess if he read the original material it's possible

Wasn't that episode 3 weeks ago though? I do agree that it would usually be more blatant though.

Tadokoro :( Well, she doesn't look too crushed so that's okay, I guess... Next match up will be interesting.
