It was slightly more mundane than I thought. This Emanon's probably going to meet up with Hikari and her brother/uncle pretty soon (it's 1994 in the last page, and they presumably last met in 1967).

Well, could be just me, but I find the idea of the two of them wanting to date but instead being in this false "let's act like normal" situation for a few months to be a pretty depressing situation to be in. Karin in particular looked lost in life and the end of chapter 14 gave me then feeling that she's actually pretty down.
It could just be that I'm projecting, as I know I would go completely crazy/depressed if I was in their spot.
