Well, as I said before, Gourmet World really intrigued me in the way that One Piece's New World, so far, has spectacularly failed. There is really that sense of adventure in the Gourmet World, of seeing wondrous things, epic things, a world of the unknown, that One Piece's New World so far for me has failed to provide.

I am excited about HxH's Dark Continent; that Calamity things are really eerie in a good way. While it may not rival Gourmet World in terms of scale, I have a strong feeling that it will rival if not flat out defeat it in terms of mystery of the unknown and sense of adventure.

I think you were expecting to much from the NW when it comes to that sense of unknown and wondrous things it's still part of the grand line.
We might see 2 or 3 islands that crazy but in OP the NW it not unknown and it's full of people we knew about .
In that sense HxH and Toriko driven more from the unknown and mystery more than anything else, OP is driven more by characters that already there for readers
If you ask most people what they want to see or expect to see in the NW most would say , Yonko , Dragon , Vegapunk , countries that we know about etc etc more that some crazy islands .

I really miss One Piece that was about adventure and not just mindless battle and battle and battle and battle over and over and over again. For example, the pre-Skypiea arc, where the crew launched into the sky, or when that huge Galleon fell from the sky, that was awesome.

But even if I look at it the wrong way and expect the wrong things about One Piece, and start to look about its supposed focus like the characters and the overall plot and how Oda does stuff in general that related to that focus, I *still* find OP to be disappointing. Like I said, it feels like "New World" is new in the name only, and everything feels like same old same old all over again. In a way, I guess you can say I am quite bored with how Oda handles One Piece nowadays.

But I guess you can't really get rid that sense of familiarity from such a long running series.

I fully understand where coming from and yeah NW does feel more of the same aside from a few things .
Still i guess i happy that we finally getting to see people we know about for 10 plus years which also give it that familiarity.
For eg Don was around since chapter 151 lol .

EDIT
Kuroko no Basket Raw
Oh god that last panel lolololololol
When i thought it could not get worst .

start of the chapter was a bit unnecessarily grotesque :/

Heavily disagree so far.

I feel like One Piece's New World *so far* has been same old same old with the Old World, barely any difference. The battles, the scenarios, the everything, the way things unfold, they feel largely the same. It just simply doesn't have enough strength and mystery for me as Toriko's Gourmet World does; the sense of the unknown and adventure of the Gourmet World simply crushes One Piece's New World, at least for now.

Fair enough, we have had over 600 chapters of OP, I don't necessarily feel that the NW is mysterious, more like a place where things are going to get serious.

I don't get a sense of mystery from Gourmet World really, I think minute by minute it has been a ride, but I don't think the overall direction or design has too much that will surprise me. HXH is another matter, definitely a sense of mystery there. OP is my fave overall for sure, but HXH deals with interesting concepts, and is much darker.

One Piece 751:

Sabo and Fujitora definitely were the most entertaining parts of the chapter. Sabo remembering Ace's death was a nice touch, but it also reminded me of his flaws as a character due to him being added after Oda made the decision to kill Ace in order to fill the void Ace's death created vs planning for him earlier in the story. The issue in this case being Sabo getting the news of Ace dying in a news paper and reacting to it vs attempting to rescue Ace like Luffy did or least being part of the war between the White Beard pirates and the Marines. But this is to be expected, and it was still a nice touch either way.

Doflamingo showing up was a great twist though although I'm guessing it might be the clone instead of the real one. I'm also interested in seeing how Robin catches up with Luffy and Law. I'm hoping we go back to Zoro and Franky soon.

Bleach

Expected Ichida to have some type of action but not that shortlived. Still kind of betting on it being the ultimate final fight in the series. I hope Ichida has a good outcome and not end in total despair or death for one of the the two.

Inoue and Chad showing up though...will they serve as spectators to the final grande event?

The problem with Oda currently is that he shows too much character in one arc. Worse is that these characters supposed to be "big names" so Oda feels obliged to show what are they made off, but ended up drawing chaotic battle instead. I see that this habit from Marineford War Arc hasn't been shrugged off yet.

Sabo! Cant tell if it's haki or just some sort of new technique he learned at the Revolutionary Army. Also lol at Bart's SENPAI face.

Naruto
Well, that was refreshing to see in an arc that's been...ok? Cant think of the right word right now.

Bleach
ISHIDAAAAAA. Also Bazz B, where your flame finger at?!

Damn son, shit just got real at the end. I wonder if this encounter will end up with Luffy losing as usual, like with most of the big villains he encounter.

Sayonara, Itoshi no My Friend 8 - 10

Second story is on the brother of the lead characters in the first pairing and this one is just so emotional. Makoto feeling inferior to his younger more seemingly accomplished and popular brother and afraid of having everything taken from him has put him in a weird spot for his new relationship with a coworker and now fighting this internal battle of pushing him away or keeping him has led to things to spiral out of control. Excellent second volume story. I need resolution just for more good scenes.

yessssssssssssssssssssssss

So manga gaf, what are some reccomended erhm... shoujo manga?
guilty pleasure
Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun, Gakuen Babysitters, Koi Dano Ai Dano, Akagami no Shirayukihime, Last Game, Oresama Teacher, Orange... I forget, there's prob more.

Also you should read Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun and Horimiya even though they're shonen technically.

BatDan

Bane? Get them on board, I'll call it in.
One Piece (cleaner version)

Anyone notice that we have a new cover story? It doesn't seem to say who it is, just "21 short term focus stories". So it's going to be like 22 Short Films About Springfield?

Bleach
Kind of expected, but was thinking we'd get a bit more between Ishida and Ichigo.

Naruto
I was shocked that Kishi decided to use a bit of humor here. Still, while the joke was appreciated, it really fell flat and was way too forced.

One Piece
Glad to see a bit more with Sabo before moving over to the reveal with Don showing up. I agree he's most likely a clone or w/e it'll actually be called. I think it's still too soon for the final battle unless Oda decides to throw a curve ball.

Edit: Cover story to deal with Jinbe.

HxH

More stuff about Ging and even the universe itself knows he's a shit parent LOLOL. Also he's getting under the skin of the biggest troll Partison so it should be fun when he finally snaps.

I guess Gon wont be appearing after all then plus it looks like Kurapika will have to kill a person this arc (fuck that prince guy).

With Beyond signing the contract this venture should begin soon.

Dengeki Daisy

Decided to check this out and it has been really enjoyable tbh.

Yes i have seen what Kasane was talking about but given the situation of those 2 i will let it slide for now. I expect it will really start to annoy me after the point where
she knows everything , he's back and they are trying to go back to normal even with all these increased feelings

Also the faces are fucking great, especially Teru's LOLOLOLOLOL

That Sabo and Bart, so good.

Luffy already "lost" (without being really beaten) an encounter against Doffy so this won't end well, for sure.

Does anyone else read Wednesday Shounen in a particular order other than release time? I usually go in the following order to prevent complete despair.

Bleach

I feel like Bleach is at it's prime during training/world building segments. Some of my favorite parts have been the initial Shinigami training with Urahara, the beginning of the Vizard stuff and the Royal Palace/Kenpachi bits. The actual fighting arcs have some good spots but are generally mediocre or just plain bad. This is a case of the latter.

Grade: F

Naruto

I legitimately cannot believe what I just read. Felt like Naruto pre-timeskip filler.

Grade: F

One Piece

It seems like stronger people have a more immediate grasp on how to use DFs. Intuition I guess? I hope we get to see more non-Meteor attacks from the admiral (the anime in particular is abusing the hell out of them) like what we saw in the bar.

The rest was kind of eh, they're kind of stretching the invasion a bit too far with all fodder and no good encounters. Enies Lobby had this kind of style of pacing at the beginning as well once they got off the train, and it was probably the worst part of the arc. Can't say I'm enjoying it here either.

Bart's faces are gold though.

Grade: C

Toriko

Awesome set up chapter, the Gourmet World is amazing and the author has some great ideas in regards to obstacles. I do get a bit annoyed how Coco is always pitted against poison, but his reaction was hilarious compared to the rest.

Liked the designs of the other Bewitching top 3, particularly the Kappa. The spread of Toriko's path was well done and fear inducing as well (that's a Daruma Horse on the right isn't it?). The frog is a damn boss, but I hope we can get through this without losing him somehow.

Grade: A

Hunter x Hunter

Good to see Gon hashing out what needs to be done. Props to anyone who guessed that he would need to redo all his training because he was returned to normal. The more and more we see of Ging, the more I love him, regardless of how shit a dad he is. Immediately saw through the temp hunter thing and pissing Pariston off! I hope we get to see some interesting abilities out of these people as well.

The prince scene was chilling but in all honesty Kurapika's plotline here is the least interesting of them all. I hope we get some more information on what he's been up to, if he's encountered Chrollo again or any of the spiders, etc.

Grade: A

Usually naruto then bleach, everything else is a way until viz's jump order.

Would wait then for naruto and bleach too but, since i follow so many naruto fans, id already have everything spoiled.

Naruto surprised me. For One Piece, I think that is a clone. Bleach is still terrible. Toriko's world is truly frighting.

Hunter X Hunter on a break next week.
