Kingdom Volume 1-15
So this is what happens when you take a warring states type and write it more like a popular shounen manga. It actually turned out pretty damn well. I mean whole thing is painfully unoriginal at times and has way too much "friendship, hard work, victory," but it's just a whole lot more readable most other manga in this genre. The pacing is brisk, the art is clean, the battles are fun and most importantly I didn't have a particularly hard time remembering who is who.
I still how no idea how this one the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize though lol.

Its just as good, follows the anime closely, at least with that which I have read thus far.
Anime adaptations are often mediocre.

I also went and paged through some of Nisekoi 82, using a test of not reading the bubbles and just looking at pictures. Who the hell are all these new girls? Why have all these girls when Raku's going to end up with Shitoge anyway? They all look the same too, barring the 'different hairstyles' that apparently set them apart.

I must say I'm very happy when I saw Yamada instantly took a grip of the situation instead of wasting pages "C'mon guys what happened to you guys!".

Whenever the subject of Wolf Guy comes up, I honestly have to wonder if they read through the particularly unsavory part (you know the one I'm talking about) or if they just skipped it all together. I only read one chapter of it, went on a forum, and learned that it continues for another 6 or so chapters. And I'm suppose to believe these are middle schoolers :/

I dig this twist and now it's off to the student council where they'll tell him to join the supernatural club in order to kiss the witches again. Maybe witch ability erasing guy (whatever the hell his name is) will come back to try to take advantage of the situation.

If this was Masterchef or Hell's Kitchen, Gordon would tear Soma a new one for forgetting that souffle would collapse over time. Really want to try that loco moco don. Good to see Soma not breezing through every single challenge.
I haven't seen School Days (probably a good idea not to), but I get what you're talking about. I meant more of a figurative backstabbing, because 'cunning' is much more appealing in a female character to me than imbalanced mental states or I'M SO TSUN or Big Eyes Childhood Girl.

Love egg dishes so new girl's food looks very appealing to me.
I read the whole thing and by god is it bad!
The unsavory part is just cheap nudity because the author wanted to draw boobs or something (I swear the female protag is like a magnet to perverts) and the conclusion is laughable and particularly stupid.
The one good part is that the art is not shit, but the rest is worse than Fairy Tails at its lowest.
I said before that Bleach or Naruto wasn't that good, I take that back!
They're masterpieces of storytelling in comparison

I still have no idea why they deliberately set this in the late industrial revolution period. Apparently victorians also enjoyed omelet rice with funny drawings made with ketchup.
Still, light and fun I guess. It's okay. Art is pretty nice.

Haha yeah. I saw the cover and thought it looked really nice, but it was too shoujo for my tastes.

New girl's dishes are great stuff. I like them the most so far, though putting the drink in an egg shell is a bit silly.
Like we thought, Soma's screwup was a very legitimate screwup, and they'll treat it like a handicap to make him even more badass by the end. I think both camps of the "soma's too strong" thing will be satisfied with this (especially since everyone else are acing this test just as much as soma would have without the mistake).

Go to /a/, click on one of those "convince someone to read a manga with one page" threads and pick something that looks visually impressive. Otherwise I always check out 1-2 chapters of manga that get posted here with positive impressions.
Then again, my backlog is huge so I don't really need to pick up any new stuff these days.

I forgot to actually answer the question.
Does the cover look appealing?
Does the synopsis sound interesting enough?
Am I able to make it through a couple of pages from it?
Do I like the art or is the art just not completely terrible that I'll actually make it through it?
Is it interesting?
Then again, since how I basically been going through a manga list and working my way up from Z, it's mostly the first impression that gets me or not.
Isn't that stuff mostly the worst spoilers from a series? That sounds like a dangerous game.
