March 2013 NPD (U.S. Hardware) Predictions - Closes April 15

I don't think GAF can take another sub-60k Wii-U bomba NPD thread, especially with Monster Hunter and Lego "Wii-U Savior" City
I've been super sour on the WiiU in my predictions the past two months and even I've got it checking in at over 90K this month.

..but were they heavily marketed? I can't see them boosting sales without a massive ad campaign.

Sub 60k wouldn't surprise me if the level of marketing for those games in the US has been as poor as it has been in the UK.

The UK Monster Hunter situation is especially terrible. It didn't suffer anywhere near as many problems in the US as it did over here.

Now that I think, the Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Premium Pack wasn't released in the US.

When I made my prediction, I added a few thousand extra units because I thought it was released there.

Anyway, I won't change my Wii U prediction (74k).

GameCube sold in March 2002 110k units.

At sub 60k the console may as well not even be released. Dont think thats going to happen in a 5 week month
I think people overestimate the effect of the 5-week month, given, looking at the last 4 years only the Wii and NDS managed to increase their total sales from February's 4-week month, only once each and with the Wii it may have been due to February shortages.
They need to make it price-competitive with the PS3 and 360, then it might help.

This is gonna be interesting. March wasn't any sort of great month for Wii U games, but some actually released, and there's not going to be another major one for a good four months.

Things to look for in March's NPD:

[PS3 - 360] Tomb Raider
[PS3 - 360] BioShock Infinite
[360] Gears of War: Judgment
[PS3] God of War: Ascension
[3DS] Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon
[PS3 - 360] Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel
[WIU] Lego City Undercover
[WIU - 3DS] Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
[3DS] Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity
[WIU] Need for Speed: Most Wanted - A Criterion Game (the crater will be visible from the Moon)

[PS3 - 360] Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel
[WIU] Lego City Undercover
[WIU - 3DS] Monster Hunter Tri
[3DS] Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity
[WIU] Need for Speed: Most Wanted - A Criterion Game (the crater will be visible from the Moon)
We're going to be waiting a while for info on these titles. The other 5 should clear the Top 10 without issue.
Will probably be the Top 5, in fact... I suspect in that exact order you provided except with BioShock Infinite and Tomb Raider flipped.

I think Pachter has overcorrected on his Wii U apathy. It feels weird being optimistic on Nintendo's console sales prospects this month compared to the mean. I'm not used to it.

Bioshock is a lock for #1 IMO.

I wonder if we'll get an official Nintendo PR this time and not just comments in IGN article this time, seeing how they've been very talkative in the past two days about numbers.

I'm sure they'll be crowing about Luigi's Mansion 2 sales figures at the very least.
