Nintendo Maintains Nintendo Switch 2 Pricing, Retail Pre-Orders to Begin April 24 in U.S.

I see great concern on his face, probably has to do with where the hell has his legs gone?!

They probably stalled to consider lowering it, and found the realities of economic uncertainties were selling people on their price gouge in the US.

Unfortunately, Mario Kart comes across as a Forza Horizon with more Nintendo limitations, but I'm sure it will be fun for many just because Mario Kart.
And it could have been cheaper, but then that retarded orange guy came along and ruined the world... was the one who caused problems in the world.

Invite pre-orders will be sent out in mid May.

Wait, where is that info from? I thought initially they said that the invite would even be before pre-orders as to tell you if you were selected.

Missing on store pre-orders and have a "chance" a month later would be weird as hell.

Didn't Eurobros get the invitations as their side didn't get pre-order delays?

What if an asteroid falls on my house?
but the chances of you getting an asteroid is nearly 0.
Drift on the other hand.....unless the stick "improvement" claimed by Nintendo really works, otherwise you are going to get the drift sooner or later.

It's actually May 8th

If You can't get from your local/online retailer, May 8th @MyNintendoStore is pretty much your last hope. Happy hunting!

may 8 is so crud i still gotta run my fat ass round town trying to gets a preorder april 24 because what if nintendos screws me on invite??

Mario kart is $110 + tax in Canada (almost 130 lol) and DK bananza is 99.99 (other 70 usd games are 89.99 here)

Yeah these games dont have enough meat for me to justify the expense.
You played them already, have you?

The amount of talk on the prices of these games is astounding! Here in Australia the price is about $20-30 more than Switch games but this is the reality of what is happening around the world today.

Either way, if you don't want the games then that's fine. No pressure to buy anything. I have my Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle pre ordered. Nintendo 1st party haven't let me down in around 40 years. I don't see anything changing now.

Is it likely that Best Buy's orders will open up in the middle of the night (like 12am-3am) or later in the morning (9am-11am)? I've never tried preordering through them before, so I'm not sure they usually put stuff live. In the middle of the night would probably be preferable to me since I work third shift, and I can just leave my laptop open at work and refresh pages at my desk.

I'm totally gonna be stressing about this til the time comes.

This pricing is just a joke at this point. Nintendo is blaming inflation and muh tariffs on the outlandish game and accessory prices, but I don't see PlayStation and Xbox responding to the same conditions by raising the pricing of hardware, software, or accessories in the USA.

But unless the Switch 2 turns out to be a major flop, which is highly unlikely, they almost certainly will. Nintendo's pricing scheme for the Switch 2 will go a long, long way to teaching Sony and Microsoft that they are severely undervaluing their products and allowing consumers to "rip them off" at the current pricing. I will not be in the least surprised if we start seeing $99.99 USD as the new MSRP for the basic DualSense and Series controllers by the start of 2026 unless Nintendo significantly underperforms at these announced prices. We can also expect publishers across the board to raise their rates on games to $80 and $90 if they sell well on Switch 2--there is no reality in which publishers, be they first or third party, are going to sell games for PC/PS5/Series that are more expensive to make than games for Switch 2 at a lower price than Switch 2 games.

Prime 4 will be August at the earliest, as it seems like Nintendo will do 1 game per month like they did with Switch.

I imagine there will be a June Direct where we get an actual date for Prime 4.
September at the earliest, Drag x Drive (confirmed for summer) will release in August.

Didn't realize you can use an existing pro controller, that's a big difference maker.
And you can most probably use the old joycon as well. All you miss with the older pro controller is the chat button and headphone socket. But the original model pro controllers are pretty cheap.

You would also miss improved DPad (which did not work well on the old Pro Controller) and improved haptics, which on the old Pro controller were a bit weak. Likely Nintendo used the same actuator as the much smaller and lighter old JoyCon in them.

Switch 2 is not like Switch 1 for me, I really want it but I don't necessarily need to have it yesterday
I will admit that a big drive for me, until the new Super Mario, Animal Crossing, and Zelda titles hit would be something that if I did have Switch emulation setup on a decent portable PC handheld I would not need. Right now a big launch day drive would be BotW/TotK and Super Mario Odissey at higher resolution and especially faster loading times. Higher framerate in Zelda should help with parrying long range attacks too.

What country are you from? I am sure we could come up with examples of people simping for your politicians...
Australia, the general view here is that politicians are basically all untrustworthy bastards.
They have their supporters, but I've never seen this kind of almost religious devotion to one.
But I digress, not really on topic.

Glad that American players will be able to get a Switch 2 if they want one at least.

Nintendo its just genius really..

N: Console is 450!

-shit! Even more??? Fuuuuck nintendo and fuck Trump!

N: Nah.. just kidding.. it will be 450! But please buy fast because mayyyybe it will cost more in the future.

- OMG!! I love nintendo.. thank god for them and this 450 console .. its really a good price.. better buy fast. Pre-ordered!

In addition to using a Switch 1 Pro controller, you can probably also save on that sd express card by managing your console's internal storage and archiving games once you're done with them, I made my 128GB sd card on Switch 1 last the whole generation this way.

It was unlikely tariffs were going to increase the price of if did, not by much. One because if you look at the price of the Japanese only Switch 2, the price is much lower and Nintendo doesn't tend to make a loss. Don't need to explain that much further. Europe already pays a higher price for the Switch 2, why? In large part due to sales tax that is 20% or more which is included in the price. Tariffs are a tax or duty, works very similar to a sales tax on imports. That's all it is. The politics of the situation is bizarre. Its strange but if Trump doubled sales tax it would have the same effect but would have less criticism.

Games are going to be a lot bigger here... Cyberpunk alone is 64gb...

True, I do usually buy physical when given the chance so that does cut down on my storage use, but even on Switch 1 a lot of games came with sizeable mandatory installs anyway.

256GB should be enough for three 64GB games being played at once with room to spare, once I finish one I just archive it to make room for the next one.

There is a very good chance they are no longer solvent on the console but are anathema to change the already revealed price by a penny. And decided to make up for it by bumping accessories by five bucks. Nobody really knows one way or another unless they're Nintendo. Upping the system would be a way worse PR disaster than the extras, but still helps plug the holes. I'm happy my 2017 Pro controller is still good.

In Europe Sony raised the price of a console while lowering the disk drive. By guarding their margin in the console they were able to lower the drive tax.

Drift on the other hand.....unless the stick "improvement" claimed by Nintendo really works, otherwise you are going to get the drift sooner or later.
Never had stick drift on my Pro controller or joycons. Had both since 2017.

Wow you're lucky I would say

My pro controller never drifted but joycons did hard

I upgraded them to gulikit Hall effect 🤷‍♂️ now they'll never drift

Nintendo apparently has a mitigation against drift on the new joycons, before peoples doom and gloom they have to buy 10 pairs of $95 joycons, maybe they should take a breath.

Probably. Never had drift on any of my Xbox One controllers either.

My PS4 slim controller had drift on the right stick despite me never using it. Ymmv.

Do we have confirmation that Nintendo has fixed the d-pad on the new Pro Controller?

I still wouldn't get one at launch, but that would do a lot to make me break down and replace my Switch 1 Pro Controller eventually. Improved haptics are cool, I guess, and I'll probably never use the headphone jack, but that fucking d-pad was a huge blemish on an otherwise nearly perfect controller.

Nintendo has to set a new price for things now because they are launching new products. Sony and MS can wait and see what happens with the tarrifs.

If 100%+ tarrifs on China become a permanent reality, then they will make price adjustments on at least some of their products.

Yes you're right, I was thinking that was digital only.

This what I do on my PS4 and Switch. When they fill up, I archive old games.

600 dollars for a Switch 2, a Pro Controller, and a 256gb sd card express is absolutely nasty work... (650 with Mario Kart).
The only thing here we can't really blame Nintendo are Express card prices as it is what it is unfortunately. Nintendo needed a portable, fast solution that wasn't proprietary.

Much like we saw with PS5 and SSD pricing, these will come down in the future.

Nintendo can F off with their joycon and controller prices though. It's absolutely ridiculous.

I mean they could have added more internal storage as a standard and it would make the expansion more optional than it is.

I hope that when Sony makes their handheld that it includes an M2 2220 nvme drive. Of course that comes with drawbacks on battery, but again, I'm hoping that Sony will use silicon carbon batteries instead of lithium ion batteries.

It's very difficult to get info on if it's fixed, doesn't sound great so far though;

My impressions aren't quite as glowing when it comes to the D-pad, though. Not because it's bad - it gets the job done just fine. It's more that I couldn't discern any major differences when compared to the original Pro Controller's D-pad. I'll need to compare them more directly once I have the Switch 2 Pro Controller in my hands alongside the original.

Which would be a shame considering Nintendo claims to have designed everything from the ground up again, in which case I guess they don't view it as an issue/it's intentional..

just because you never had drift, doesnt mean it wont happen.

My first joy con drifted within a year, and i dont play my switch much.

Hopefully your luck stays lol
