Just noticed MK8 shot up to the number 1 game on amazon. As far as I recall it's been hovering in the 30's and 40's before this direct. Lot's of speculation on this board about the effectiveness of directs, I think this is proof they can work.
Not sure if this was mentioned already, but Amazon.de now has an "exclusive" Steelbook edition:
Just for the regular version and not also the Limited Edition?
It is glorious. I had so much fun with that Direct. I love the haikusGood lord the voice overs on the EU direct. What the hell.
Actually you think the music is bad because thats not the kind of music you like. Well you see I dont go flying around telling the country music thread that their taste is bad.Totally serious.
The problem for me is that... I simply don't like Big Band/Jazz music. Most video games will have a classical score or other smooth or soft music. I usually classify those as elevator music. There are exceptions (exemple: Guilty Gears), of course, but I find those exceptions to be few and far between.
Here is some exemple of music I listen to: Song 1, song 2, song 3, song 4 and song 5.
I know that this kind of music is totally unrealistic in video games, except rhythm and music related games.
My only exception to all of the above: David Wise.
I knew that my point of view would spark that kind of comments. So, I gladly won't remove myself.
Ok so it's just about your taste, not the quality itself. I understand.Totally serious.

Do you guys think they're gonna keep up with the numbers from here on out? I was cool with it when they did it for 7, but doing it again for 8 seems off to me.
Probably not. They even said internally staff weren't keen on using a number again, but were swayed because the 8 had the double meaning of looking like a möbius strip. Doubt they'll be able to do the same thing with 9.Do you guys think they're gonna keep up with the numbers from here on out? Are these Directs always so corny and so jarring in terms of the different styles for each segment?

Yep, 2 characters, 2 new kart/tyre/glider styles/1 new cup (4x tracks) = $10. New one every 2/3 months. *salivate*I'm pleased with everything they have announced for Mario Kart 8. If they are going to release DLC for Mario Kart 8 then I will be right there in heartbeat.
2 completely different packs of 2-4 characters and a cup (4 tracks)
Also worth pointing out that on Amazon US, it's the highest ranking game on the list (the only thing above it is PSN vouchers), outselling even the PS4.Looks like Nintendo might be onto something with this Mario Kart thing. Below is a list of Mario Kart 8's preorder ranking on various Amazon shops around the world.
America: 4th
Canada: 4th
France: 1st
Germany: 4th
Italy: 2nd
Japan: 2nd
Spain: 1st
UK: 3rd

Mario Kart Eight rolls off the tongue decently. It's the Möbius strip that makes it such a perfect use of numbering.
Unless all the preorders are from people who already own the system. Also worth pointing out that on Amazon US, it's the highest ranking game on the list (the only thing above it is PSN vouchers), outselling even the PS4.
I don't know if it will 'save' the Wii U, and frankly I don't even care to have that discussion lol. But I do know that this will certainly sell a lot more Wii Us than any other game to have released for it so far.
Well, my friends think Mario Kart Loop rolls off the tongue better, so they are going to sticks with Mario Kart Loop over Mario Kart 8.

This looks like the most complete Nintendo game yet for the Wii U and bodes well for SSB later this year.
Guess I'll be playing Pikmin 3 afterall

Anyone else disappointed that Donkey Kong doesn't appear to have the same quality of fur effects as in DKCTF? Bit of a letdown!

In motion, it looks better than MK8's.You think MK8 DK is a letdown? Look at SSB4 DK for a REAL letdown
In motion, it looks better than MK8's.
And looks funny when making funny faces, not completely stupid like in MK8.
