Race OT is the main one. Frantic is rarely active. Don't even remember what the other is, weekly tournament?

one is for battle mode, one is for regular race, one is for frantic mode (different item mix, afaik). Almost everyone plays on race so you might want to choose that

Different rooms with different rulesets, most stick to the Neogaf OT room.

go to friends and select someone that you raced with in the room

Joining someone from Friends/Recent Players is usually better than just joining lobby. Puts you in the same room as them.
