I see others don't use the same philosophy as me on Toad's Turnpike. I don't even try to win that race, and I don't intentionally attack anyone. The idea is to get it over with as fast as possible, because everyone already lost the moment that track was selected.

You can feel the melancholy sadness in the atmosphere

I'm dying here lol.

I wish that philosophy can be applied to RR64 as well. If you're not first, then you may as well not race.

RR64 is okay, apart from the race being determined on the first curve. Fun track.

Toad's Trollpike doesn't even have that going for it.

I really like Toad's Turnpike. One of the best traffic tracks the series has
However, no matter what, I always do terrible at it so I avoid it like the plague.

I can't wait till the Double Dash tracks are remade. Mushroom Bridge and that night time one was cool. Then there is the Rainbow Road that happens over the night time one.

Except when you vote for it every time it is there.

Toad Turnpike is shit.

anyway we were just 5, where are all the eu gaffers.

I quit because only two people were left in the room. Not usually a fan of 1 on 1s. If a room picks back up or there is a good WW room going I'll join though.

I don't really like any of the traffic levels, they are all boring. If I had to pick one I'd say the one from (IIRC) Double Dash.

It's funny, I'd like to see a number of DD tracks remade, but the ones they picked for MK8 are some of my least favorite tracks from that game.

Baby Park, Waluigi Stadium, Daisy Cruiser, Mushroom Bridge, Yoshi Circuit, and of course, Wario Colosseum.

DD Rainbow Road could have also been interesting with the antigravity mechanic, they could have changed that magic elevator thing into something better. And while I never liked DK Mountain all that much, I think I would like a lot better with MK8's mechanics.

Toad's Turnpike Wii version was way better. If they had used that instead...

In fact I find that the Wii courses are way, way, way better than 8's. Both in how different they are and how fun they were.

If they sell the Wii courses as a big download pack for 8 I'd buy them all day -1.

I have never encountered an invisible item ever.

I've been complaining about them since launch. I'm pretty sure that it's a netcode thing but I don't understand why it's only happening to some people. Distance related? I even put my Wii U in a DMZ which seemed to help a little but hasn't completely solved the issues.

I've also seen people get taken out in my game by invisible items and have seen a number of red shells that seemed not to track me but I have no complaints about those :p

There was no TT in MKW tho

Yeah I've had them since launch but only figured out what was happening last week. In replays you can actually see them though.

So this just happened in a public lobby:

Mario Kart 8™ netcode....

Best part is that there is another green shell false hit where I threw my green shell and it hit that guy. It happened between the 1st and 2nd hit shown in that video.

All of those courses except Wario Colosseum are already remade . :/

I really liked how the courses in Double Dash tied into each other and was hoping another Mario Kart would bring that over. I'm assuming that's what they will do with Mushroom City and Rainbow Road DD.

Anyone?

So here's a question I should have asked a long time ago: Do you decelerate/accelerate while holding a drift or do you maintain whatever speed you had before entering the drift? I ask this because I sometimes I overdo holding my drifts, so I wonder if I'm doing myself a disservice.

I've never play portable Mario Kart games, so they can feel free to remake those again! That also means any portable track remakes are effectively new courses to me.

If an MK8 expansion ever does happen, it definitely needs to include Wario Colosseum though.

I wondered about this. I think you slow down a little, but an orange drift boost is pretty good and makes up for it most of the time. Not sure about reeeaaally long drifts like the short straightaway on Royal Raceway before the ramp.

You guys hate toad harbor? I love that level especially the music. Reminds of a nice Saturday afternoon with the family.

Turnpike, not Harbor. Harbor is actually an good course IMO.

Most people pick the ever-living daylights out of TH when it comes up in GAFcc.
It's a nice simple level and nothing like hiting the breaks when drifting the trolleys to troll the people behind you (extra salt points if you are bowser with max weight)

I liked Colosseum, but it would need to be significantly opened up to work in this game.

Wario Stadium 64 on the other hand would be awesome. Some people claim that track is boring. Those people are doodooheads.

I hate it when you lift off the ground after a drift on Sweet Canyon after the cannon. So annoying and it seems to happen for no reason.

Only pussies let go of the accelerate button! I don't care if I'm stuck on some wall, that finger ain't coming off the button.
I don't think you've understood my question, seeing I never let go of acceleration throughout this.

lol DaBoss, these guys around 1000 points are so bad that it ain't even funny.

lol the race started while I was writing here and still managed to arrive third.

seems I have, pretty sure you hold your speed but you need to release the drift at a good time (usually so you come out of the drift with a good racing line) or you could lose speed/time.

It appears there is confusion around the words accelerator and acceleration.

Well, it really depends on how fast you can recover from facing the wrong way. the fastest way to get somewhere is by going on a straight line. When you're drifting you face a bit to the side. However, the gold boost could be good enough to make up for the fact you aren't going straight.

Well, that's what I think, I'm not sure about the accuracy of that.

There's a lobby in the GAF room.
The hell? Why am I in an empty lobby? I thought it said like 200 something ppl were playing.
200 people have played this week so far in the room.

Sorry for the naive post. I have finished 3 starring everything and got all 90 stamps and I think its time to jump on the GAF-Tourny Train. Do I just add it to play with people?

Yeah. The GAF room is only reliably active in the afternoon and night (US time) though.

Quote the first post in this thread and the number to the gaf room will show. Type in the tournament section online and it will pop up.
