ouya would never do this to us
I guess I'm going more into detail than most in this thread have since I'm familiar with how companies twist things for good PR via making vague statements (due to classes I took when I was in college as well as just my overall interest in that area).
"Xbone can be played without an internet connection at all"
Try and tell me that's a true statement.
:lol You guys are reaching like Dhalsim. PS4 needing the Internet was never even rumored.
Yes, but again what does he mean by "old school"?

These statements are just pretty vague to me. Unlike fanboys (on either side) though, I'm not going to say that me feeling that way 100% confirms that Sony will give in.
As I've said many times before I'm looking forward to hearing more details.
It is pretty clear here.
Sony supports the troops.
Microsoft does not.
Yes, but again what does he mean by "old school"? Couldn't old school simply mean "without internet"? The PS4 will do more than just play games.

Good fucking god, the cognitive dissonance is appalling. They couldn't be ANYMORE clearer that you can play the PS4 COMPLETELY offline with NO issues and yet you're still clinging to the dumbshit idea that they'll force you to use an internet connection?
Are some of you fucking stupid?

You mean you HAVE to be internet connected to enjoy the ps4's internet features? Fuck you Sony. Just like MS I see.
Look a little bit harder, you might be able to find what isn't there.Sure you can...For a day at a time until reality hits you to face
So why do you think we had this lovely #PS4noDRM thing going on just last week?

What Michael Denny said in the PSM interview.

Still think both statements are pretty much the same?

Clear as fucking day but still, xbox fans

I think we could use some searchlights and neon signs to make sure people get it."Never considered it."
"can be played old school without an internet connection"
What part of these two statements are people having trouble understanding?

Hysteria?
We have an expert folks!
Slightly veering off course, but I actually do wonder how many are really Xbox fans, and how many just like to be doomsayers. Human civilization has always had those and there probably is some aspect in our brains that can take morbid fascination in things going completely and utterly wrong. And hell, this is a lot more realistic than the world ending at the end of this year or whatever.Clear as fucking day but still, xbox fans
So let me get you straight. It's like my Xbox One then? I can play that COMPLETELY offline too with NO issues. As long as I don't forget to catch on a connection every 24h or so![]()
My dear god how blind and lalalalalala-I'mnotlistening do you have to be. PS4 DOESN'T require an internet connection at all _EVER_ to play games. There are online features that SHOCKINGLY require, yes, an Internet connection, but they've said it as clearly as they possibly can that you can keep your PS4 offline FOREVER and still play games. In a way we're in the same situation than we were with Durango back then. We still don't know what kind of relationship PS4 will have with online. Will there be a price for online gaming? What will the level of DRM be? Do I have to be connected to internet once in a while to be able to access my software? We do not know these things. At least with MS (through vague statements and PR disasters but still) we know what their approach is. Not people may agree with it or they may not but in a way we know more of MS's plans than we know of Sony's.
Maybe what Cerny says here isn't 100% clear, but they've been clear before, like I said, but you keep ignoring the fact that THEY'VE SAID IT A MILLION TIMES THAT NO INTERNET CONNECTION IS NEEDED TO PLAY PS4 GAMES. They don't have to say "it's the same as on PS3" when they can and HAVE said "PS4 doesn't require internet connection at all."You don't think there's more room to be more specific. Oh c'mon please use your imagination. How about saying: "Yeah it's just as good as it's on PS3 or even better (on consumer's perspective)" Or you know actually detailing their online plans? What Cerny said here doesn't tell us anything we haven't heard in one form or another.
True good clarifying that up but I am sure sony wants people to be online as much as the microsoft guys...they invested a shit load into those cool features like gaikai and streaming...I am guessing thats why cerny said the experience would be more richer if connected.
Looking at the various Sony responses to questions, I don't see any wiggle room. They say again and again you can be totally offline and you don't need an Internet connection to use the PS4. How is that the same as MS? False equivalency FTW?
Kneighly said he heard Sony PS4 would use similar DRM policies; everyone freaked out and said "like fucking hell they are." Thus began this campaign.
Of course they want folks to be online and pay money on their content, doesn't mean their forcing them.
They even said "old school style" to make it explicit that they were referring to (singleplayer) games being entirely playable offline.
One can infer that depending on the publisher, some games may require a constant server connection. But that is not built into the system.
It's been stated by more than one person at Sony. You continue to act like this isn't the case.
And then try to puff up your chest as if you're impartial unlike anyone else on here. Really incredible.
Also Famousmortimer said he heard Sony was wavering on what to do.
They've seen the backlash and yet they remain silent. Tells me all I need to know. Now it's just a question of how similarly they're going to implement their DRM policies. As a Steam user, DRM doesn't bother me in the least. Just tell me what I'm dealing with before I make a buying decision is all I ask.
Mark Cerny: "PlayStation 4 won't require to be always connected"
Only "sometimes"
I am still crossing my fingers that MS won't force anyone either, I really want both of these guys to do good.
Yes, but again what does he mean by "old school"? Couldn't old school simply mean "without internet"? The PS4 will do more than just play games.
