Fuck. Fuck the fight on
Horizon
on Insanity.

I have never been so frustrated at a lack of auto-save points in my life.

That fight gave me fits even on Veteran because the autosave was at a point where I was completely out of both medi-gel and heavy weapons ammo. All I could do was wait for my crew to shoot the sucker to death because I was a Vanguard and all I could do was run around like an idiot once I fired the 24 pistol shots I had (if that) while occasionally shooting down the barrier with SMG.

The fish. seriously they die faster than wrex around ashley :badum: Anyone keep them alive?

I still want my Korogan pet to be allowed on the Normandy and to chew on Joker's legs.

Hire that Krogan on the Citadel to take care of your fish. :lol

My fish always die, personally I think space hamster is killing them when I'm away.

Anybody who has played the
Collector Ship mission
on Insanity give me any tips?
I almost beat it but ended up running out of ammo. I have Thane and Grunt with me.

I made a mistake of not saving it at the Normandy...........such a idiot

Man that battle in Tali's recruitment mission
against the Geth Colossus with like 50 or so foot soldiers constantly shooting at you
was brutal. I died at least 10 times before I finally managed to win.

I love how Cerberus is portrayed in this game, and how different it is from the inside compared to what we know about them from the outside during ME1. I wonder if ME3 will show us other organizations of different races trying to learn and take down the Reapers (Cerberus can't be the only one; need my Salarian Special Task Force:lol ).

I'd loved to see Captain Kirrahe and his Task Force from Mass Effect 1 return and help you out in the third game.

Party member death spoiler:

Miranda Died, so i guess loyalty is needed to survive. this is it went down:

Prologue:Smashed tali in the captain's cabin :lol

1-Legion went through the vent
2-Garrus led the first secondary team
3-i took Samara and Grunt with me on the first part
4-Grunt escorted the crew back to the ship
6-Garrus led secondary team again
5-Samara kept up the barrier (took mordrin & legion with me)
6-took mordrin & legion with me again to the ending
7-see miranda's dead body being run past by collectors
8- i say fuck...i didnt like her anyway

and i loved the killzone 2 type oh shit ending

I loved all of the new characters except for dun dun dun Miranda & Jacob

Man the 2010 gaming year started off with a bang :D

There has been some amazingly incompetent usage of spoiler tags in this thread, so I wouldn't be surprised.

so im seeing magical spoiler tag blockage? and no edit text on my post, oh my

Okay... now it's getting to me.... I thought I could handle it....

Whoever came up with the idea of planet-scanning like this needs a big punch in the face. Seriously. I think I'm crazy wanting to drive the Mako instead of this. At least you're heading to a designated marker. No random wild searches!

To think you have to do this for every play-through...

And that's a fucking spoiler. Don't you understand what a spoiler is? HAY GUYZ SNAPE KILZ DUMBLEDORZ LOL. Doesn't matter if it isn't the same for everyone. It's still a spoiler! Just like Wrex in the first game.

Saying it over and over isn't helping.

Earlier someone was talking about post-ending stuff without tags. I mean, how hard is it to just tag everything?

I must be some be some uber gaming god because I use Vanguard and I heavy charge around like a maniac and tear most things to absolute pieces whilest being kept up by my shield boost every time. I am playing on veteran and I pretty much 1 shot everything using the Krogan shotgun.

Yeah because that one choice ONLY HAPPENS IN YOUR GAME. You're game is complete unique, right? No other game could POSSIBLY have that outcome.

So before I start a game here is it like the first game in that it's better to be a soldier as you'll get all the psi abilities through you team mates?

Andronicus doesnt get that a character dying might not be something everyone sees coming. It might be a *gasp* spoiler.

Wow, I didn't know that new characters get access to the bonus powers from old games right away. It says "Your achievements give you access to the following bonus powers. Select one," and you get to choose from a list of everybody's unique ability.

I guess it's not common knowledge that
everyone can die.

Just add spoiler tags to cover up those first two words in your original post already and quit junking up this thread, FFS...

Yes, some people went blackout, dude. Its just common courtesy. It takes a second to add spoilers tags.

Wow, not sure if anyone listed the bonuses for a new character after finishing the game (possibly achievement based, I have every achievement except Insanity), but here's what I got for importing a 52 after I finished the game importing a 60:

Credits: 330,000
Resources: 55,000 each

Still started only at level 3 because it was a 52, not a 60, but that's a LOT of money and resources. I think I also get a 25% XP boost because a loading screen tip said so.

You get a 25% xp bonus for missions, the skills you got are tied to the loyalty achievements.

Yeah, that's what I remembered reading during a loading screen, but I couldn't find confirmation anywhere. Sometimes loading screen info is out of date, so I wasn't sure if I could trust it or not.

It will show up on the side every time you complete a mission. I started a fresh new character to go pure asshole renegade and he's moving up quickly.

Okay, so after I finished the game I
decided to keep playing to do some odd missions. There is no way I can actually start a new game with this current character's stats is there? Otherwise it might make getting that level 30 achievement take a little longer!
.

All up, loved the game. A worthy story that kept the strong storytelling and dialog from the first game. Got used to the changes with the weapons and ammo...but I do miss the loot a bit. Combat feels a lot more tactile in general.

Things I didn't like so much:

Planet scanning...I see this is almost universally disliked. Was it really a better solution than the Mako?

Load times. WTF it's 2010 how could this happen

Um, you can select New Character and select Import ME2 character. I think pretty much everything carries over that isn't story related.

Okay, someone complained about spoilers in here and I just want to see if I have this clear:

- He mentioned a certain party member dying
- Apparently every single party member in the game can potentially die depending on your choices?

I want to be clear as to whether he spoiled a particular story event which is part of the game's story, or whether he's just being insensitive (and quite an asshole) to people who got annoyed at the fact that he might have spoiled a unique story point.

I haven't picked up ME2 myself yet, but I don't want this to turn into some mudslinging battle. So some clarity would be nice. Thanks.

Load times are way, way better if you do the install. I only have the 20GB HDD though so after installing I have 387MB available on my hard drive. :lol

Seeing all the people complaining about how they nerfed Vanguards makes me happy I switched to Infiltrator for my carryover playthrough. My Vanguard was a walking death tank in ME1, but I have a triple-shot sniper rifle for my Infiltrator in ME2. Fuck the double tap, I use the triple-tap on heads in this game! :lol

The game is filled with cameo re-appearances and personal emails from minor characters from ME1. I wonder if playing without a carried over save from ME1 feels much lonelier without all these people from 2 years ago burying you with emails telling you about what they've been up to while you've been dead. As if you care, you've got to go fuck some Collector shit up. Nobody kills Shephard, and lives!

duckroll: As with ME1, somebody in the party can be sacrificed. In ME1, it was either Ashley or Kaidan on Virmire. So, it's a spoiler in the sense that he revealed which person in the game is one of the potential sacrifices. You can of course choose not to let them die if your conversation skills are sufficient. I'm assuming ME3 will carry over your decision to let them live or die, just as ME2 takes into account what happens to your potential sacrifice in ME1. Everyone would of course save them if they could...LOL, fuck that, Kaiden was worthless, I just about threw him at the enemies so I could be rid of his worthless ass. :lol :lol

The mission complete screens... I know there are some haters out there but did anyone else really love the mission overviews from the Illusive Man/Cerberus' perspective? Gives you some unobscured insight to their modus operandi... how they assess every race, faction and individual for possible alliances, threat factors and opportunities to further their patently morally questionable research... :lol

The specifics of it elude me but I recall feeling a chill going down my spine as I read some of the reports.

Thing is many of us didn't know that. I sure didn't and I'm guessing others didn't either. People flip over a Wrex spoiler when it's a tiny thing in the game. I think a major character dying is a little more than tiny whether it was know they could all die or not. For a non-spoiler thread you kind of expect...you know, no spoilers.

It's like Ashley in ME1. Sure she might not die in your game but it's still a spoiler.

Sigh, oh well it's out know anyway can't really change it, although I think he or one of the mods should spoiler tag the the 2 or 3 posts where he said it.

If it's part of the story it is a spoiler. Whether it happens right away or only if you do several things exactly right to trigger it, it's a spoiler. I can't understand how you don't get this.

What's a good bonus skill for an adept? I'm trying to decide between inferno grenade, energy drain, reave, and warp ammo

You're able to respec via upgrading with advanced training so you can test them out to see which one you like the most.

I think you are either being very ignorant, or deliberately dense to the point of utter annoyance. In most RPGs, party members and story characters do not randomly die because of the player's actions or decisions. It is usually a story point, and something which would be considered a spoiler. Even if it is a possibility that might not happen to everyone, some people would rather not know at all that such a possibility is available until they discover it for themselves.

So it is not odd that people would be angry when it is just thrown around casually. Your manner of replying to these concerns has been rude, and they cannot be faulted for getting even angrier at you. Attempting to defend your actions further with a refusal to admit any fault on your part reflects badly, and will only make you continue to look bad.

3 hours and 10 minutes in, and so far, the game is awesome :D Encoutered two glitches, one where I was in a battle and I backed up through a door, but the door closed and I couldn't open it so I had to reload. Another one where I was stuck in one place and couldn't move anywhere.

And I like the scanning, call me crazy.

Yeah but I'd rather n.ot waste the element zero

Warp ammo seems good on paper, but I found it only decent in practice. I was only a Vanguard, though. I imagine an Adept can abuse it much better. Reave has a loooong recharge time, but is very versatile. Not a fan of the Inferno Grenade myself. Never used Energy Drain, seemed kind of bad.

I went with Warp Ammo after Inferno Grenade and my new character started with Reave.

the fact that it has been stated that anyone could die has most likely already been brought up in this thread as you yourself noted , so i was just wondering why i am the bad guy? but oh well you've edited my post

Metroidvania

People called Romanes they go the house?
Reave has a loooong recharge time,

What?

If you've done the 20% cooldown shortage Upgrade and are playing a biotic character with cooldown bonuses included in the "passive" skill (which I think both have, I know the vanguard does, and can't imagine the adept not having one), the recharge time on reave is negligible, it's like 4 seconds for my Vanguard after applying bonuses.

edit:eh.
