I'm partial to Tali's battle themes myself. Actually a good friend of mine who composed them, Jimmy Hinson. He got the gig through OverClocked ReMix (to make a long story short).

Yeah I saw that in the credits Jack Wall wasn't the only composer. I thought the first game had better atmospheric tones, but the themes and battle music is superior here IMO. The first one also had a great battle theme or two but I still prefer its exploration music above anything.

And of course, the music during the final mission (pretty much the main theme of the game) is incredible as well.

I agree. Also ME1 had a bunch of other composers too, including Richard Jacques. He's the only one who didn't return for ME2 and Jimmy took his place :)

Soundtrack for ME2 has some great tracks really, well worth a purchase. I can't sleep without the galaxy navigation theme :lol

Your friend is a god. Tali's theme/the Geth assault theme is by far my favorite track in the whole game.

But I already bought the activation for the Cerberus network on the marketplace. Would I really need the code?
You won't need the code, you're good.

It was so refreshing to hear the galaxy map theme back straight from the first game. When I heard no music on the Normandy (there might be some kind of low-key music going on but if there is I can't hear it) I was a bit worried and then I immediately went to the map screen and was like OH WHEW.

I'll be sure to tell him that! Or you can just tell him yourself http://www.biggiantcircles.com/

But yeah, definitely an amazing track. I'm already remixing it :)

It is slightly arranged though but it's good Wall didn't alter it too much.

kinda funny that they recycled the audio from ME1 in the Codex for the original entires. all the new entries have a different audio quality so that jumped out at me.

So, is Infiltrator a good class, GAF?

I am currently re-playing ME1 as infiltrator and I love sniping enemies out of oblivion. I just want to be consistent throughout all ME universe and thus I am planning to continue playing as Infiltrator in this game...

Hmm, but from what I can gather the ammo is limited so you can't just snipe everything away, correct? :( Is sniper class a viable choice to go in this game? How about encounters in this game? Is there ample opportunity for snipers to shine (like in the first ME) or most combats are engaged in short-range encounters?

Gaahhh..., even if playing as Infiltrator sucks in ME2, I will grit my teeth and move on...

Best class in the game or at least tied with sentinels. :D

If you want some tough times ahead, go with the vanguards.

Mordin singing was all types of hilarious.
Totally caught me off guard, the pause after he was done was classic.

the pause was the best. ................................*ahem*

So GAF, in ME 1 the paragon option in the conversation was always the upper right option. Has that changed? Are they random now or something? Just started playing and not all upper-right dialogue options seem paragon-like to me.

Just finished it. Amazing game - definitely worth the wait!

Everyone survived the suicide mission. It wasn't that hard actually - playing paragon helped keep everyone loyal and choosing who to do what was more common sense than anything else.

Epic ending and I loved the final choice. I have no idea how that will play out seeing as it seemed like such a massive choice which could change anything. The human reaper was pretty freaky and definitely wasn't something I expected. And the whole atmosphere after going through the Omega 4 relay was fantastic - it genuinely felt like any of them could die at any time.

I'm looking forward to a renegade run and I'll no doubt try and get everyone killed in that final section just to see how it plays out. The highlight on the game was Mordin's singing - which is among the most surprising and amusing things I've ever seen in a videogame.

All up, probably my second favourite game of this generation behind Uncharted 2. Fantastic experience!

Man... I can't go back to Mass Effect 1 after playing Mass Effect 2. I knew I should've replayed ME1 before going into ME2, but shit happened, I picked up ME2 and had to 'try it out'... 30 hours later, I'd finished trying it out...

and while I'd like to go back and replay ME1 so that I can change a few details up... I mean what kinda ass would put
Udina in charge of the council? Seriously! I didn't even let the Council die in my original play through!
... I'm just not in the mood for a 30-50 hour game trying to max level ME1 Shepard... after having satiated myself on ME2.

That and the UI and control differences are throwing me for a loop. It's not that ME1 is particularly bad... but ME2 just flows much better as a shooter. Which is great for ME2, not good for revisiting ME1.

Playing as a Sentinel now. Game seems a lot more fun to play, a lot more unique. I just think choosing Soldier was just a bad choice all around, frankly put. I feel like I've been missing out on these other classes.

Also anyone know a good place to get the Incinerate achievement? That and Insanity are the only two ach.'s I have left. :D

Chose to preserve the Collector's base. I don't know why really, I think it was because I was 100% renegade and for my next playthrough as paragon I will definitely destroy it... Will be extremely interesting to see how this works out in ME3 since it's such a HUGE thing.

I'm sure it'll be just as relevant as
who you put on the council
was in this game. :lol

Yeah, you get to the loyalty mission part of the game and all of a sudden it's like it's being written by the creators of LOST. :lol I think there's only three missions out of the seven that don't involve parental issues, and one's about adolescence and another's about a protege.

I count five.
Mordin, Garrus, Jack, Grunt and Legion
But hey, whose counting, right?

I'm such a sand panda atm, I was going to do Jacob's loyalty quest (I think). I'm not even that far into the game I don't think, so when I get prompted to insert disc 2, I go to get it, put it in, nothing happens, message pops up telling me to put it in, I hit ok, nothing happens. :( I load out to the dashboard and it gives me a DRE when I just try to boot it from there.

I take it out and look at it and the entire edge of the disc is smudged with something that refuses to come off. It was the first time I had taken the disc out of the case, so I know it isn't something I did...:|

I bought it at Gamestop, will they let me exchange it for another without a receipt, I didn't plan on this happening so I didn't keep it, silly me I guess. If they do deny me, is there some sort of thing I can send to EA to get a replacement? This blows, I was absolutely loving the game.

Seeing as it's the final game I'm sure the choices will have a bigger impact. Hell, even in game it says the choices you make will have significant effects in Mass Effect 3 not just that you can carry them over.

Gamestop might be able to reprint the receipt, but if not then just call EA and they should be able to get you a replacement. I had a Rock Band Wii disc that had a similar issue and they sent me out a brand new copy without asking me to send back the disc or prove I bought it.

Gestahl said:
You...you do realize he was ridiculing the idea of these choices having any major impact, right?

Who knows what kind of impact they will have in the next iteration. Expect the worst and hope for the best. Since it will be the end of a trilogy your choices in ME2 could more heavily impact aspects in 3.

It looks like choices impact the overall story not individual situations related to main character mechanics. Which would be awesome.

Thanks, yea I just bought it from them literally 3 days ago, gonna be pissed if they try and act like they don't have a record of it.

Anybody playing the series on Xbox actually gone back and tried ME1 right after finishing 2? I just played through the intro and Eden Prime, but was really surprised to see that (texture pop in aside) it actually seems to run smoother, faster, and controls quite a bit better than 2. Really shocked me. Going off memory, I was convinced it was going to be a laughing stock.

Did you, by any chance, drink an enormous amount of alcohol to congratulate yourself on finishing ME2? I played ME1 right before 2, and there is no way it runs better. Not even close. I love ME1, LOVE it, but, technically, it's a bit of a mess. But I'll try it again today to see if you are as wholly insane as you sound. :D

FINAL MISSION SPOILERS

Okay, trying to keep everybody alive and somewhere I screwed up. Any ideas?

Mordin died during the last boss.

Full loyalty
Had all ship upgrades.
Tali went through the vents, survived.
Miranda was team leader for both times.
Normandy crew survived.
Jack was my shield.
Thane was my escort, survived.
Final team was Garrus and Grunt.

Where the hell did I mess up?

Doing the mission where
a turian distress signal was received by the illusive man, boy what a pain in the balls the big door is where you fight the thing that keeps regenerating its shield and you have to whittle down its armor, little by little.
.

Overall, this game is amazing, so glad to give BioWare my money, much deserved.

I still need to finish building my team ugh!

You just need to use the heavy weapons pretty much, I had the flame thrower at the moment, it was annoying but it did the trick.

My first time through it I made similar choices and had the same outcome.

First time:
Had all ship upgrades, missed about 2 tech/AR upgrades, all loyal
Legion through the vents
Miranda was Beta squad leader both times
Jack was my shield
Zaeed was my escort
Garrus and Legion were my final team
Kept the base even though I was mostly Paragon most of the game
Mordin died, everyone else survived

Reloaded the mission and made a couple of different choices.

Legion through the vents
Miranda was Beta squad leader both times
Samara was my shield
Mordin was the escort
Garrus and Legion were my final team
Destroyed the base
Everyone lived :D

Please hep me...I can't stop the bitch fight between
Miranda and Jack
I've done all quests and I've got all other squad members loyal. I'm almost 100% paragon and the Paragon option for the fight is still greyed out. I've got a female Shepard so there are no romances involved. I really don't know what to do anymore. :(

I actually was going for a renegade, so that's the option I chose. You don't have to have it very high, maybe 1/3 to pick that option to deal with them both. Otherwise it may be a glitch you're having. If you side with one, you can always go back and talk to the other to make them loyal again.

just beat the game... was one of the biggest ME1 fans on the planet... bought and read both novels... own collector's 1 and 2... have the collector's art book and strategy guide for part 1... own the statue... own all three lithographs... have a t-shirt... have massive posters for both games... mass effect 2 themes on xbox and pc...

all in all
the story was a massive, massive, massive letdown... at the very least i was expecting something amazing like a revelation in part 1 about the nature of the reapers and the cycle of extinctions... part 2 was like playing gears of war or something, with a poor effort on the story-telling and weak sauce dialogue... the end revelation was so lame... had little emotional impact... it seems like they rushed the game to completion and left out the plot twists and revelations that would make you go "holy shit"

you would think we would get a chance to speak directly with harbinger or something like we did with sovereign? the most interesting parts like how the protheans weren't suitable for genetic construction of a reaper was like 3 seconds long... frankly the "enemy" wasn't much of an enemy... saren was more interesting as an enemy and his motivations were more interesting than this collectors BS... seriously, this is the game i was anticipating for over 2 years? jesus... f*** you bioware for this joke of a sequel... they spent more f***ing time on the damn salarian loyalty mission than they did working on the main storyline...

90% of the time i was playing the game - it felt like a chore with endless duck and cover bs - the shotgun was totally neutered - ME3 better freaking redeem the franchise

I know that's possible in theory but in my case it doesn't work for either of them.
It's not really "theory" because that's how it works actually
except for Zaeed, since he doesn't have real dialog
, it's like a second chance if you didn't have a high enough morality level. So, both the options are grayed out when you talk to the one that you didn't side with afterward? It might be a glitch then, since that shouldn't happen.

So I finally started playing the game..

Is it just me or Vanguard has been severely dumbed down? I was unstoppable in ME1 but now I'm having some trouble hitting the ride stride in ME2.
