That's what I did, and he still died.

I did:
Tali for vents, Garrus led the team both times, Samara held up the biotic shield, Grunt escorted the crew back to the ship. I took Legion and Thane in my squad every time. I also completed every single loyalty quest before the final mission. I don't see why Mordin should have died at all. Is it random or something?

Mordin dying seems to be random, which sucks. But sending him to escort the crew seemed to solve it for me.

Dunno why
Mordin died for you

It's random, as far as I can tell. Or very weirdly picky on who is on your own team.

First time:
Tali vents, Garrus lead, Miranda 2nd lead, Grunt escort, Jack shield
Final team was Shepard/Miranda/Thane.
Everyone survived.

Second time:
Tali vents, Garrus lead, Miranda 2nd lead, Grunt escort, Jack shield
Final team was Shepard/Miranda/Zaeed.
Mordin died.

Mordin dieing is a bug. I think you have to
send him with the survivors
to insure his safe return.

Can Bioware make a game not riddle with bugs? I've gotten risen up from the sky more than 5 times already. And you can't die! And if you save, you are placed on top of the very pillar you were "standing on" .

why on Earth would you let a Krogan Warlord do an escort instead of letting him kick ass (and liking it) :lol ? Mordin died on my play as well, but that's because I sent Jacob back. I cannot stand Jacob, to be honest. Cole Train wannabe, urgh.

Mordin will likely live if you sent him back with the crew

In terms of ME1 versus ME2: it's basically like going from B5 to ST:Voyager, including the shift in captain in Sheppard.

the other is that the story turned from B5 politics towards
"the reapers did it" for everything, including the Rachni wars. And with the Collectors being Protheans, how is it that the Reapers were not able to find out about the Keeper modifications? And how is Harbinger able to control them when he isn't anywhere near them? (and the reason for the kidnappings is bullshit to me)

More of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=flja4jZpla4 (fuck I LOVE Shepard punching Saren) and this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gtBbwtY6ROo (epic on a scale ME2 didnt even seem to TRY to attempt) epic awesomesauce in ME3, please and thank you. It was sorely missed in ME2.

I'll agree with this - there were some excellent scenes in Mass Effect 2, but not as epic as the final scenes in the original Mass Effect - it was a constant high with a spike at the end for ME2, while ME1 kicked you in the face with how awesome the ending was...

Matt Rhodes posted on his DA some art posters of his. This guy is a genius! I love the Garrus one :lol

Edit: Darn it! Okay here is the link pretties http://mattrhodes.deviantart.com/art/Mass-Effect-2-Garrus-153019099

May I add that those were not in the CE. ffs, why not: I have no idea

What Miranda calls "working out"

Man, those are nice - thanks!

I sent Grunt back because I thought they might encounter trouble on the trip back, and Grunt is a fucking tank. Who knew all they'd be doing is walking back like a stroll through the park? If i knew, those damn crew members should have just went alone.

I had Mordin by my side the whole time along with Grunt for the end, which is probably why I never got the problems you guys had...

JayDubya said:
I didn't much care for Grunt. I like Steve Blum, though, and the character's level of survivability gives him loads of utility, especially against midgame=> endgame Husk swarms.

His character does it for me, and he shows it a lot on the battlefield, and in conversations, not to mention the laughs I get from him every now and then...

And you gotta love him just plowing through crowds whenever he gets the chance - dude's an impenetrable bulldozer once you've got him set up properly...

regarding jacob:

Cole train wannabe? WTF? Are you sure you were playing the same game instead of GoW2? :lol

I was just teasing.

He's the only character that can't seem to keep his mouth shut.

"Nothing is going to hurt me now" or whatever gets blurted out way to much with him around. I can deal with Grunt and Garrus ("nice shooting!"), but I find Jacob's lines to be really annoying. Personal preference maybe, but I don't like a Gears-wannabe in what is supposed to be an RPG.

So has anybody here had a defective disc? I decided to check my discs out in case they're what's causing the freezing, and I noticed that the center of my disc 1 has a green ink smudge in the center hole. :| I'm not sure yet because the disc 2 portion of the game also freezes. Maybe both are defective.

My game freezes a lot, and the very first time I tried to load it I got a DRE.. which is odd because I installed it before I even tried to load it. :lol

Anyone notice if your squad members also run out of ammo/clips if you don't pick up thermal clips in the middle of a fire fight?

Also the Mordin thing is random from what I heard. It's safest to have him
be the escort or take him with you.

free? More like 1200 MS points.

And if you mean: free, because it came with my limited edition, then it wasn't free either.

But it comes with every single new copy of the game?

Does anyone know where the achievement data is located (on PC)? I'm trying to sync up my profiles on two computers.

I'm pretty sure its in "C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect 2\Save\", or the equivalent. I recently transferred my save data between hard drives and copying over the contents of that file kept all my achievement data, as well as general save data.

I already regret posting that, because I didn't check any of the cerberus network stuff from inside the game. Looking at the same content from the guide or marketplace shows 1200msp though. I assumed it was meant to be bought.

Well it is, kind of.

He's an enticement to buy the game new. It's part of the new effort to cut off the used game market, or at the very least get some money from those who buy used.

I would pay money to get Zaeed removed out of the game.

Paragons can leave him to die on his loyalty mission. I did this cause I thought he sucked and was a bloodthirsty douche.

Hot damn this game is fantastic.

I mean, I enjoyed the first one, but felt the combat was a tad tedious and the middle of the game slightly dull. Here the combat feels more like Gears of War, and the game is a similar rollercoaster ride as the last few hours of the first game. Visuals are also absolutely amazing (aside very few odd low res textures / low poly objects seen from too close). Also, the art direction is second to none - love everything from architecture to typography, character design to clothing design.

Gears of War RPG in a stylish Battlestar Galactica world? Dream come true.

Although i had a strong urge to " replay " the end of the game because 3 of my characters died, i deemed them as acceptable losses and it would cheapen the impact of those losses if i just "loaded" the game back up. The Justicar, Jack, and Thane died....they will be missed :( So many fantastic characters in this game.

Games rarely ever have any emotional impact on me upon a characters death, i wanted these people to live :(

Finished Mordin and Grunt's loyalty quests. Both of them totally made them so much more awesome. Seriously love the characters in this game.

Yessir. I love all of the characters in the game - Grunt's my #1, but I love 'em all...

For those who bought the game used and want in, yes...

Her and Zaede were the only people i "couldn't" be loyal to based on how the characters act.

She was just so...90's female "badass" stereotype. Male name, shaved head, overload of cussing and extreme attitude. Blech.

I'm torn now because I want to replay the end in order to save Mordin, but I don't actually feel like replaying it. Maybe I will another time but I don't know.

Its lame how Mordin is a random death. I'll admit he's one of the characters I didn't like, so I'm contemplating not caring about him. Didn't like him cause he talks so damn much, but atleast he had character. It's something good when compared to someone like Jacob who was incredibly boring. For the record, I didn't like Jack all that much either.

I really want everyone to live. What should I do GAF? Help me decide!

Mordin was a challenging character, for me. At first, I liked the idea of a doctor who would shoot you in the head if you fucked around. Then it turns out he was the Krogan's Josef Mengele. Then it turns out he was trying to save the Krogan species, in a way. Then he sang Gilbert and Sullivan. Pretty good character.

Didn't... like Mordin? That's unpossible! What's to hate about a Salarian who sings Pirates of Penzance songs!? He's pry my favorite character in the ME series so far. Anyways I kinda want some of my characters to die in the finale because I think it makes for a more interesting story that way, but I guess I'm just weird like that.

Also I really like Grunt but I thought his story and loyalty missions were kinda bleeeeh. His shotgun and loyalty outfit are totally tubular though.

Also I think it's a testament to the writing that they made the for the most part bland party members from the original game, into much more interesting characters here. But that's just my opinion so please don't hurt me.

Is she loyal? If not, maybe keep her with you for the end/have her escort.

I hate Mordin, that bastard killed innocent Krogans.

No idea what Pirates of Penzance is. Anyway, i can see how someone would like him, he's got some interesting backstory and whatnot. When recruiting him and they talked him up to be some super badass, I was interested, but it just turned out to be a Salarian (lame race IMO) who talked way too much.

For me, the characters pretty much go like this:

Liked Fucking awesome: Thane, Miranda, Garrus, Tali, Legion
Indifferent: Samara, Grunt.
Mordin and Jack goe somewhere between here.
Disliked: Jacob, Kelly (for good measure)

Not sure if I'm missing any.

But he didn't hate Krogans. In fact, he felt horrible for what he did. And it wasn't that he was out to kill Krogans. He just needed to stabilize their population.

Before his loyalty quest, I thought of him the same way as you did. After his loyalty quest, I found him the deepest character in the ME universe.

I guess I personally really like the salarians, you can see where they based them off the stereotypical 'greys' aliens and expanded on them from that.

I'm pretty indifferent towards Jacob, but he definitely had one of the coolest loyalty missions I've played so far. I just got to Illium, still have the Thane/Samara recruitment missions to go.

I usually dont read spoilers this early on, but same here man. Regardless of morality type.

Also I like how they dont really highlight whether the conversation choices are paragon or renegade unless they are on the far end of the spectrum.

You're missing the best character in the game.
