Or...you know...as a character, Wrex "changed his mind"? Women are allowed to change their minds. Why not videogame characters?
Eh. They don't really explain WHY he changed his mind, which is odd considering that he made a big deal in ME1 about how he had given up on actively helping the krogan and how he would never return to Tuchanka and how he had nothing left tying him to the planet now that he had his family's armor back. He just decided to mosey on back home and try again because Shepard was such a nice guy or something.

Speaking of krogan... come to think of it, have we ever met a "dumb" krogan in either game? The ones who like fish sound more bored than dumb, and their request is honestly just as trite as all the other random NPCs in hub worlds... er, maybe the one reciting poetry, for his social stupidity?

It seems odd considering that for how many characters talk about krogan intelligence, that almost every krogan we meet is "smart for a krogan," or prompts a response about "well you're not like other krogan," or "well of course there are SOME different krogan."

Like, 95% of the krogan we meet are either clearly intelligent by conventional standards or at least wise to the world.

I think being one of the six people responsible for killing a hundred-million-year-old space monster and saving literally the entire civilized galaxy might be enough of a confidence booster to make you think you could go make a difference on one little planet. Especially if A) You still cared deeply about the cause, B) Your plan was starting to work on that planet before you left, and C) The reason you gave up was basically just a posthumous "Fuck you, dad".

Just beat it yesterday, I took a little too long in one instance so I almost got the perfect ending
only lost one character
. I have an earlier save so I'll get to that today :)

Why all the Miranda hate? She's got a lot of baggage and that's really fleshed out in het loyalty mission. I think she's interesting.
But the best character has to be Mordin, yeah. I think a lot of people think that.

Yea, I don't get it either. She was definately one of my favorites out of the new crew, and I found her 10 times better than Ashley. A little bit of an Ice Queen, but I dug it. I would would rank them as:

Good

Mordin
Miranda
Thane
Garrus
Tali

OK

Legion
Jacob
Samara

Worthless

Grunt
Jack
Zaeed

I think the fact that no one can agree on the quality of the characters speaks for itself. I guess some characters are really appealing to some people, while others don't. They got a good mix going.

I am still partial to the hot chick. :lol

Yeah sure, I'm going to betray a team member in exchange for someone who I not only just met, but who is a murderer who tried to kill me just seconds earlier. Even if I didn't have to betray a team mate for no logical reason, why would someone allow a cancer like this on their ship? That whole option makes no sense to me.

Exactly what I thought.
I guess that had the game been reality then the possibility would have been that Shepard would have been under the "seductive influence" of Morinth, which of course has no effect on the player.
They could have possibly had the player meet Morinth way before the loyalty mission as a side character, give you a chance to get to know her and possibly built up a reason to "trust" the bitch first. I guess they could have been really blunt and just had Morinth offer the player a load of cash/a special weapon/power, either way would have been an improvement I think.

Its a bit of a rarity but I enjoyed the whole cast of Mass Effect 2. They all felt a lot more compelling and fleshed out (yes, I just read all the Wrex-Grunt stuff from a few pages back) I liked Jack because she really wasnt afraid to speak her mind and brought a different kind of person into the mission.

Legion was also a highlight, and Tali was my favorite by far.

Least favorite was probably Jacob, but he was alright. More interesting than Ashley and Kaidan, I thought.

Question, after you beat the game, can you re-engage with any romances you want ? EX: break up with "x", tell "z" you were just joking, romance her, break up with "z" and go back to "x"

I think so.
If you talk to your new romance, there is an option to tell them that it's a bad idea, and the picture in Shepard's room goes back to being on display. There may still be consequences in ME3 though, no one knows.

I don't think so, after I completed the game I went back to talk to my crew just to see what they thought and whenever I talk to Jack she gave me the same "Come on Shepard, you're just pissing around. I don't want to play" that she gave me as soon as I told her I didn't want her.

Apparently you can call your love interest up to your cabin using an intercom next to your laptop, but I haven't tried that yet.

On a unrelated topic, does anyone know what is best way to tackle insanity mode? I assume there are going to be a class or two that are better at it then others, but is it best to start on a new game + or is it fine to just start a new character. I'd like to try out the other gender Shepard but not if it makes the game unnecessarily hard.

Agreed. Except i would move * up to good and maybe Samara too. Her character dialog wasn't interesting but the idea of her character was. But * was a favorite.

Jacob survived the brunt of the Geth attack on Eden Prime, and then went on to save the Citadel. He's on the team because he's Mr. Pibb to Shepard's Dr. Pepper; they're not real subtle about that.

I play as Black Shepard so Jacob was the only brother that I could truly count on. There sure as shit aint no black aliens so in a cold universe the brothers have to stick together even more.

Seriously though, all charcters seemed equally good to me, so long as they're balanced against each other to cover a wide range of weapons/biotics/tech etc. I played through on Hard and they all performed beautifully. Nobody was too much of a first aid hog.

My only complaint is that you didn't get Legion long enough to enjoy his style. I got him and there wasn't much left to do in the game. I guess I'll have to trot him out a lot when the DLC comes.

I had Jack all lubed up but then I changed my mind and went with someone else. After I told her now Im locked out of comversations with here "fuck of!!" she says :lol

Id just wanna do it to see the scenarios, Im happy with keeping Talio as the love interest (guess I might just youtube them, lol)

Granted that Zaheed was the definitive throwaway character of the game, I thought his back story (or loyalty mission [that I failed]) was rather intriguing to say the least. I'm glad though I didn't get him until half of the game was over, since he doesn't really serve a purpose other than a couple of cool scripted lines.

I wouldn't have been able to get through the first Collector ship away mission on Insanity w/o New Game+ (since it lets you keep all weapons you researched/gained the first time around). Without the Cain, that bit on the floating platforms is an exercise in frustration. I was playing Infiltrator though, so YMMV.

For classes, the two I hear are the best are Soldier and Sentinel. I tried to newgame+ with my Vanguard....let's just say that didn't work out too well. :lol I started over with a ME1 import as a Sentinel and am having a much easier time. Being able to take out shields/barriers/armor is critical since damn near every enemy has at least one of the three on Insanity. Personally, I liked being the one responsible for taking out the shields, etc. and let the AI partners focus on dealing damage.

That was the hardest part of the game for me too (on Insanity), and I wasn't on NewGame+.

As a Vanguard.

The worst thing is that I forgot to keep a save from outside that mission, so I was stuck there without the option of going back.

Took me an hour to get past the floating platforms part. I had to quickly spam the Avalanche missiles to freeze the guys before they got possessed.

The platforms on the collector's ship pretty much give everyone a hard time on Insanity.

So yeah, it's the best time to liberally use expendables like your heavy ammo and medpacs.

Just played through this.
Mordin died on me... :( But Im not going to reload and do it again even when I know that I should've sent him as the escort. I'll carry that result for ME3.

Awesome, awesome game. The main story wasn't that special but it did set things up for ME3 though. Most of the characters were really great, espcially Garrus, Mordin, Legion, Tali and Thane. Mordin's suggestions for Tali relationship - conversation was gold. :lol

The Collector Ship platforms on insanity are weird. I tried to pass that area at least a dozen times prior, then I finished it even quicker than my normal playthrough. I guess the secret is to position your squad behind the cover facing the Collectors (and Scion), have them take out/severely weaken the grunts and use the Collector beam on Harbinger. Pull out the new anti-material sniper, use tac cloak and take out the Scion, then position your squad by the cover facing the second wave, and rinse and repeat.

I liked that character too, just wished they introduced him sooner. Would've also been awesome if
you had actually witnessed him stalking Shepard as he mentions throughout the game so his eventual reveal would've been more bad ass

They really are ridiculous. The best way I found was to leave the Scions there, as shockwave doesn't effect you when in cover. Take out the 2 waves of Collectors, take out the 2 Scions, and then use the Widow and TacCloak on the final wave.

How long did it take you guys to do all the missions?

I shouldn't be trying ALL the missions on first run since I need to do the second playthrough achievement :lol. but right now i'm at 34 Hours. Got All but 1 Member (Secret?) to get.

I'm playing on Veteran. Surprisingly this is the only WRPG that I can play and first 360 game to even get more than half of the achievements for :lol. Good job Bioware.

I downloaded someone's saved level 60 paragon file and created an infiltrator with it.

The infiltrator is amazing. Playing Insanity with this class is only slightly more difficult than Vanguard on hardcore.

Also I downloaded a saved game state editor so I could just patch in infinite resources. Scanning can suck my sack.

On a totally unrelated note: The Paragon story compared to the Renegade story is absolute shit. Shephard comes off as an unbelievable tool, and the council is worth fuck-all. They should rename the spectrum Romanticized and Pragmatic. You can't stop and help every single fucker you run into when you're trying to save the universe, nor can you advance your species place in the galaxy by a billion worthless good deeds.

I think I ended up around the 35 hour mark to do all the missions, including the side and planet-based anolomy ones. I'm replaying the game on Insanity, and I have a feeling it's going to take me a lot longer to finish, but I need that last achievement! :D

Holy crap, about 37 hours played on my finished save and I JUST found out you've got a crapper in your cabin aboard the Normandy. It's pretty well hidden, seeing as how you have to stand right next to it, standing at your computer isn't close enough to open it.

Wait what? I've finished the game once in about 40 hours and I am 15 hours in my second playthrough and I didn't know that.:lol

from the way the game presents it Morinth is an extreamly powerfull biotic, the kind that can mindfuck a lot of people at the same time and kill people by just fucking them

that's a very powerfull asset to have on your team
so it's more of a "will you save the good girl but have a weaker biotic with you on a suicide mission, possible risking lives, or will you take the bad girl and increase your survival chance" they should have worked on that angle a little bit more, but the general idea behind the change is logical, you don't need to "trust" someone to understand that they would be a valuable asset in certain situations

You get Morinth in your party, who can imitate Samara well enough that other crew members don't notice her. If you sex her up after finishing the game, you'll die.

Beyond the goofy scanning, I have three fundmental issues with the game (likely the same as many others)

1.) The EXP system is bunk. I hate that no matter how many enemies I kill, I'm not rewarded in that regard.
2.) There is no sense of accomplishment from killing bosses/sub-bosses. I got 10gp for killing the Thresher Maw, but that's it. I never get special items, money (at least not specifically) or exp for killing big baddies. Every enemy is the same in this regard and that's goofy.
3.) The skill system changes were not good. I feel very constrained with the limited things I can level up. A skill tree being so short removes much of the customization of a character.

The core gameplay is great and they made some nice changes -- graphically, the detail on the main characters is stunning. But to be honest, I'm not sure I'd say this is as good as the original even with its terrible inventory system. I think they took a hatchet to something that needed a shave.

Just finished the final mission, so annoyed that
Miranda died after I killed the reaper. I'd managed to keep everyone else alive up to that point. What the hell, did she trip and bang her head? I did her loyalty mission along with everyone elses. Is it because I backed Jack when they were having a little tiff? If that's the reason it's dumb.
Apart from that loved every second.

If you back Jack (or vice versa) in that argument, you lose their loyalty. The only way to regain it is talk to them and either use Charm or Intimidate. That's probably why you lost Miranda.
