Get the word out so there are fewer people making your mistake. :D

Anyway, it is so much more rewarding if you start with the 1st game. I know it didn't happen much,
the possibility of Tali or Garrus dying ads so much to the intensity of the last mission for me personally
.

I kept
Garrus with me in my group the entire time just because he probably had a smaller chance of dying that way
:lol

...that's not true. At all. Helmets are a separate slot. You can equip or unequip to your hearts desire.

But you can't have the bonuses of a helmet/hat without it blocking the character's head, which is what I think he means (unless you have the PC version and mod it, of course).

That's one way to do it.

My 1st try Mordin died cause I sent Grunt to escort the crew back instead of Jacob. I was kinda ticked off he would work in that role, but then I realized that was part of the game that made the experience so much more intense and therefore awesome. I'm not sure whether I'll import Mordin dead or alive for the sequel.

Why on earth didn't they feature Faunts or any other band in Mass Effect 2? The score is all well and good, but sometimes you do want the poppy sensibility of a song. Especially for the end credits!

Obviously Faunts don't have anything else in their catalogue that really matches the sort of hypnotic intensity of M4 Part II, but they do have what I think are some appropriate tunes. Either the actual track Alarmed/Lights or a remix of it would be particularly killer; it's a little low-fi and downtempo, but it has a sci-fi motif, a martial drum beat about half-way through the song, and emotionally matches ME2 very well.

Also, the lyrics:
We grabbed our things and ran
We ran 'cause all was lost
We lost our sense of us
We've got the cost
Staring from a train
And dreaming on a bus
Nothing feels like home
Dreamer...

Lights are flashing bright
The siren's warning sound
Listening to the night
Waking to the knock
Now I cannot feel a thing
Now I cannot carry on
I've left this side behind
Ready to go
Home

Seems like it'd suit the game incredibly well both in terms of themes and in terms of the sense of impending dread and terror the game evokes in the final scene.

I'm no music expert, but sucks to be BioWare for missing out on this.

I don't see how anyone would be interested in something like that, even if it were fairly priced. I'm gonna bet most people in here have already completed the game, and it just seems ridiculous to go back to the game to play one single extra mission.

I miss the days of expansions packs.

Well you can go back to do these missions after you beat the game so it's not really a big deal. I still have the game installed so not much of a hassle to load up my save and play it.

I would love an ME2 expansion pack though.

I was actually really let down when I beat the game and didn't hear some pop song in the credits. :lol

The way the first game ended, and that perfect choice for the song over the credits, just gave me this real "FUCK YEAH!" feeling that made me go straight into a second playthrough.

Yeah was expecting a song with lyrics and such considering ME1 and Dragon Age had them.

I'm sick of all the people complaining about the dumbed down rpg aspects, planet scanning, and axing of the Mako.

This is the real reason ME1>ME2!

In all seriousness I'd really like to see this get brought up in a developer interview or something, I'm curious what their reasoning was. Considering how much they listened to fan feedback in developing ME2, they had to have known about basically their whole fan base clamoring for the Faunts to return.

I'll wait for some reviews of Kasumi's DLC, but $7 seems way too high. It sounds like she works the same way as Zaeed does; no recruitment mission, no conversations on the Normandy. There was nowhere near 90 minutes of gameplay in Zaeed's loyalty mission, nor in any other character's loyalty mission, so I hope Bioware have actually made it a longer mission rather than just fudged the numbers.

No, the music in Mass Effect 2 is terrible (except for your alarm clock.) The only memorable bit is the Mission Complete screen and it sucks too.

Also happened in ME1, the game that ME2 is a sequel to. If you equipped a helmet in ME1, it was off for conversations, except on planets without breathable atmospheres.

I don't think it came off automatically during conversation, but at least you had the option of removing it in the menu.

I think this was the problem. Rather than improving on things, they chopped, cut, and sliced their way to mediocrity. I really hope that BioWare takes a step back and makes ME3 a perfect blend of the first two games. I'm not sure I'd play another Mass Effect game if it's like #2 again.

The addition of Zaeed was pretty neat though. I thought his character was fairly interesting and his mission was pretty cool. And while you couldn't enter into lengthy conversation, he would still respond with context sensitive dialog down in his room. In other words, I'd have paid around $5 for him as DLC at most.

For ME3 I just hope they get rid of the planet scanning or at the very least make it so it is not essential to upgrading. That was the biggest problem for me. Alot seemed to hate the Mako but atleast you weren't required to drive the damn thing around the whole planet searching for minerals. If you wanted you could just drop on the planet, head to the mission critical spot, blow shit up and leave. In ME2 you HAVE to scan to upgrade.

After I completed my Paragon playthrough, I dreaded going back for my Renegade just because of the damn planet scanning. Thank God I got all the bonuses so I only had to scan a few planets and still be satisfied with my upgrades.

Does not performing renegade actions during cutscenes increase your Paragon score? I'm currently playing Paragon, but if during a cutscene the lttle renegade option is in the corner, should I not press the right trigger?

The little icon increases your Paragon/Renegade. Ignoring give you neither. There are time when (like in Illium and the guy on the window) if you don't press R, you'll have a chance to talk to him R/P. Same thing on The Grunt mission

Do we have any more info about the Hammerhead DLC I missed?

Scope, length, prize, release dates? To be honest, it's the only reason I still have the game installed on my PC. I want some of that Mako feeling back, even if it's just for a couple sidequests.

Christina Norman, of Bioware, confirmed that there would be "less" mining in Mass Effect 3 during her talk at GDC. She admitted that it was a feature "nobody liked." I don't expect there to be any Mass Effect 2 like planet mining in the finale.

It doesn't increase your Paragon score, but by passing on the twitch Renegade interrupts conversations continue which usually provide you with a Paragon opportunity.

And you could toggle helmets on and off. Crazy stuff, no idea why they took that feature off.
Apparently they had designed the costumes as single entities, and it was too much of a hassle to go back and separate the two.

Or they just thought it would look ridiculous to allow us to mix and match the Collector's helmet with the Terminus suit.

Just give us back our loot! Can't believe I'm saying this, but I would have preferred driving to get my minerals instead of scanning. I have 50000 Element zero that I have no use for. And screw fuel also.

I would love to get the old leveling system back, where you get XP as you kill people, talk to people and do missions rather than a standard XP system for every mission. That really let me down for Mass Effect 2. Also, looting really sucks in Mass Effect 2, limited weapons and stuff, compared to Mass Effect 1.

It would be nice if the mission-based experience system were better constructed. VtM:Bloodlines had a fantastic objective based experience system where you gained experience points based on how you approached the mission and what objectives you were able to complete.

Unfortunately, that might be asking too much from Mass Effect.

Oh wow - enough with the over-dramatizations, no one's even played the DLC yet.

Bioware has already confirmed it to be an hour and a half, which means its probably less than that. 7 bucks is a steep price to pay for such little in return. This makes FPS map pack DLC look good by comparison.

They need to start stepping it up their DLC offerings with the Mass Effect series. :/

As a lootwhore, large amounts of guns/attachements a la Borderlands and Army of Two: The 40th Day would be so awesome :D

The looting need to be changed though, as did the XP, because there's less reliance on dice rolls. A typical loot system ala-ME1 or even Borderlands wouldnt work all that well a the guns no longer have a range of statistics, thanks to many from ME1 being replaced with player input.

No. What they should be doing is packing everything into the final game and not fucking around with downloadable content at all.

No thanks. Just come up with a method that's better than ME1's and ME2's.

I wish that was true but DLC is a developer price raise on a game without actually raising the price. So far none of the DLC, free or not, has interested me so I don't buy it. I loved ME2 as it shipped (except for the planet mining).

YES to this.
I love scavenging for loots and buying/selling shit I pick up.

Also I like setting up my characters' armor and weapon, makes them feel special instead of Henchman #1 and Henchman #2. Dunno why they think we're too dumb for that. Old leveling system ftw.

Did you buy new? Should have the option to download it in the main menu. It's all stuff you can do at any point in the game, basically.

The music in ME1 was good and memorable?

The only tracks I remember are Title Screen, Thorian Creeper Attack, and End Credits.

Man, ME1 was filled with great music. The Wards and Presidium tracks, the theme for Vigil, the romance theme, Saren's music. Loved ME1's score way more than 2's. Though I still like the soundtrack for 2 quite a bit.

My personal favorite bit in ME1 is Sovereign heading for the Presidium towards the end, and that long camera shot followed by this track:

20 hours into ME2, and I can say the soundtrack is pretty forgettable. The only tracks that stand out are the ones that play at the clubs, and one of the battle themes. ME1 had so many good tracks.

Get your head checked! ME1 had fantastic music. I remember...Legion from 2. That's about it.
