You'll have to mod it in order to work with a controller, and from what I hear, the mods that enable support aren't that great.

No, it makes no sense that it doesn't have native support, but whatever. Neither does ME2.

Ah, ok. Thanks for the info. Ordered the game today from Play.com for 13€. =)

Oh wow, seriously? Well I'm an idiot. She doesn't look it.

Try it on Insanity. Thankfully I went with Infiltrator on my Insanity run. Cloaking really saved my ass.

Insanity as an Adept sucked so much. Horizon nearly broke my controller multiple times.

Just beat this again, on PC for the first time. Awesome game all the way through, but the suicide mission pissed me off since I lost three of my dudes despite busting ass gathering minerals and upgrading everything.

It was
Legion, Grunt and Mordin. I really didn't want to lose Legion and a guide I looked up said he could be the tech specialist, but he died after getting hit by a rocket just like in my first playthrough. He was loyal and I upgraded his armor so I have no idea why I lost him again.

I put Grunt in charge of one of the teams, he caught a bullet but I didn't really care.

Mordin was the one laying there dead in the final part, I have no idea why I lost him.

I thought I did enough to keep em all alive but I guess not. Some of the outcomes seem random but whatever. I could have followed a guide for everything but I feel like that kind of spoils it.

Had a lot of fun, though, and I still have Overlord and Arrival to do. ME3 is far enough away that I'll probably do a NG+ and a Renegade run before then. Great game, though.

Save editors are sweet. Now I can play through two more times without worrying about mining/hacking for resources and have perfect Paragon/Renegade files with the ME1 decisions for each.

Game is still really fun btw. Uncharted and Gears have more intricate combat but something about ME2's visual style and level design makes the experience really fun for me. It was my GotY for 2010 and still holds up just as well.

Grunt isnt really a leader, and for some reason youre supposed to take mordin with you to the final battle, otherwise he's almost guaranteed to die.

I had Mordin escort my crewmen back to the ship, and he survived that ordeal...twice. So, I guess either that or bringing him along to battle is the way to keep him alive!

I got the No One Left Behind trophy, by putting Garrus to lead the other team, Legion to go through the vents, Mordin to escort the crew, and Samara to shield the team. plus I had the loyalty of all members.

You lost Legion because even though he was loyal and a tech specialist the second fire team leader was either not loyal or not a fit for the job --> tech specialist dead.

You lost Grunt because the second time you choose a second fire team leader he dies unless he is loyal and fit for the job or Miranda (doesn't have to be loyal).

Mordin died because your overall hold the line score was too low at the door. Each person has a rating for holding the door. Add them all together and divide by the number of people that hold the door. If the result is under a certain number someone will die. There is a priority list of who dies first. Mordin is the first on that list.

For all detailed info on the suicide mission go the bioware forums. Everthing is explained here.

I'm trying to do everything before heading to the IFF mission. Can you access the DLC at any point, or is there a cut off point like in mass effect 1?

This is exactly what i did.

You can access the DLC at any point. Not sure about the new squad members though.

Just beat it this afternoon for the first time. Scanned every planet and did every side quest. Beat all the DLC. Got the Lv. 30 achievement in one playthrough.

Kept everyone alive by sending Tali in the vents, letting Miranda lead the second squad both times, sending Jacob back with the survivors, using Morinth to make the bubble, and going into the final battle with Legion and Morinth.

Tried to stay consistent with my (renegade) ME1 playthrough by being faithful to Liara, and choosing the Renegade ending (giving the Collector base to the Illusive Man).

Are there ever any sales on the PC DLC content for ME2?

Im halfway through ME2 on PC right and want to wait until the price drops on some DLC since right now the price for all DLC is about the same I paid for the game.

There's probably a better chance of picking up the GOTY version this fall/winter on sale.

Ugh, so I finally started playing ME2 after getting around to completing ME1 on PC (played on 360 at launch), and I've remained pretty much spoiler-free this entire time, so let me register late my disgust at the way Bioware dealt with wiping enough of the slate clean so that they didn't truly have to work on solving the problems posed of having widely different outcomes from the first game.

I knew of course they didn't have the talent, time or money to give justice to their promises, but still. Within the first ten minutes I was already disappointed.

Already bought the Digital Deluxe Edition a few weeks ago, so I guess Ill just buy the DLC I need now (Kasumi and Overlord) and get eh rest as needed once I finish the game (LotSB, Arrival).

I started my fourth ME2 run as Vanguard.

1st was Infiltrator: not su much fun.
2nd was Soldier: fun, but bit boring: only gunz.
3rd was Adept. Best fun. Warp Explosion all over the galaxy.

Now Vanguard's Charge with Geth Shotgun is insane fun.

The Mass Effect: Genesis digital comic that PS3 players could use to generate ME1 savegames is now available for the 360. 320 MS points is a bit steep, though, if you ask me.

Just went through an ME1/2 playthrough, myself, so I don't really have a need for it. Might get it if I decide to reroll another Shepard before ME3 hits.

Wow I was waiting for the comic for the longest, so I can finally start a renegade femshep play through and now I find out it costs money?

:lol :lol Hell no! I guess I'll just play though ME1 to get the save.

ugh...

seems pretty awful to charge for it when it was free on the ps3.

Anybody know if I play another ME1/ME2 playthrough if I can choose which one I want to continue in ME3? I won't mess up my current Shepard, if I play another now?

Fucking lol @ charging money for the comic. Typical Bioware and EA tactics.

Meanwhile at CDProjekt:

I could see it maybe having to be pay on Xbox, since Microsoft has screwy rules about that sort of thing, but there's no reason why it should cost "Bioware Points" on PC.

Hmm, this saves me playing through mass effect 1 again but it really should be free.

Also, Lair of the Shadow Broker is pretty amazing, I didn't expect it to be that good.

I loved Mass Effect 2 but I really hate all the variables that deteremine who survives at the end.

Honestly, if you just think about things, listen to what the missions are and what the game is asking you to pick, it's not that difficult. Literally the only semi-bullshit thing is
holding the line, and even that makes sense when you think about it.

As it is, your last mission immediately after should still show as the Suicide Mission, so you can replay it right away, and the whole thing only takes like 20-30 minutes.

I actually wanted to come out of the suicide mission with a few squad members lost. I thought it would be kind of lame having everyone survive a 'suicide mission' but that's how it worked out. The fact that Kaiden Alenko had to die back on Virmire but god damn Jack is still alive is nothing less than a tragedy. Lest we forget.

Sorry to derail the thread...

Just got ME1 for PC from Play.com, and now I can't install it, because the copy protection code is incomprehensible. Can't make out what some of the numbers/letters are. =(

I wonder should I contact Play.com, or EA, or Bioware? The problem is, I can't even take a photo of the code (in case it's needed) because it's so blurry, and my camera isn't that good.

It's a thread about Mass Effect 2 and the possible spoiler is for Mass Effect 1. If you're playing ME2 you already have the choice of who you want to save out of Kaiden and Ashley in the intro. And we all know that it's a suicide mission and that depending on your actions all, some or none will die. So, there are no spoilers in that post.

Not everyone coming into Mass Effect 2 will know that. I didn't, and I played it back at release, so I'm sure a lot of latecomers who weren't exposed to the pre-release info build up don't know what to expect at the end of the game.

The game itself refers to it as a 'suicide mission', sure, but it doesn't spell out exactly what that entails once you get there.

I didn't think there were any spoilers there at all, apologies. Edit the quote if they are spoilers.

Not really.
Why are Jacob and Miranda good leaders? Why cant a stealth expert like Thane hack the doors?
I mean there is an obvious choice for each one, but still.

It's pretty clear if you read their bios before you send them. I mean, it's like:

"We need a good tech person for this!"

Tali's Bio: Really good at tech stuff.

"We need a good leader for this!"

Miranda's Bio: Brilliant tactician, natural leader.

I mean, yeah, you can try sending someone else in and hope for the best, but why risk it?

I downloaded genesis, but I can't figure out how to access it.

I believe it naturally slots in after the opening of the game. So, start a new game, do the first Normandy section, and then the comic will play.

Update... as if someone's interested. ;)

With the help of my girlfriend the code was deciphered. Old man & old eyes = can't see shit. =D

ME turned out to be the most problematic game to install I've yet encountered. Installing the patches normally resulted with an error note, and trying to launch the game normally resulted with nothing. The patches and DLC had to be installed in Windows XP (SP2) compatibility mode, and the game had to be launched in the same mode + the executable file had to be run as administrator. Phew. Well, at least it works now.
