Just beat this again, on PC for the first time. Awesome game all the way through, but the suicide mission pissed me off since I lost three of my dudes despite busting ass gathering minerals and upgrading everything.

Had a lot of fun, though, and I still have Overlord and Arrival to do. ME3 is far enough away that I'll probably do a NG+ and a Renegade run before then. Great game, though.

Legion, Grunt and Mordin. I really didn't want to lose Legion and a guide I looked up said he could be the tech specialist, but he died after getting hit by a rocket just like in my first playthrough. He was loyal and I upgraded his armor so I have no idea why I lost him again.
I put Grunt in charge of one of the teams, he caught a bullet but I didn't really care.
Mordin was the one laying there dead in the final part, I have no idea why I lost him.
I thought I did enough to keep em all alive but I guess not. Some of the outcomes seem random but whatever. I could have followed a guide for everything but I feel like that kind of spoils it.

Save editors are sweet. Now I can play through two more times without worrying about mining/hacking for resources and have perfect Paragon/Renegade files with the ME1 decisions for each.
Game is still really fun btw. Uncharted and Gears have more intricate combat but something about ME2's visual style and level design makes the experience really fun for me. It was my GotY for 2010 and still holds up just as well.

Just beat it this afternoon for the first time. Scanned every planet and did every side quest. Beat all the DLC. Got the Lv. 30 achievement in one playthrough.
Kept everyone alive by sending Tali in the vents, letting Miranda lead the second squad both times, sending Jacob back with the survivors, using Morinth to make the bubble, and going into the final battle with Legion and Morinth.
Tried to stay consistent with my (renegade) ME1 playthrough by being faithful to Liara, and choosing the Renegade ending (giving the Collector base to the Illusive Man).

Ugh, so I finally started playing ME2 after getting around to completing ME1 on PC (played on 360 at launch), and I've remained pretty much spoiler-free this entire time, so let me register late my disgust at the way Bioware dealt with wiping enough of the slate clean so that they didn't truly have to work on solving the problems posed of having widely different outcomes from the first game.
I knew of course they didn't have the talent, time or money to give justice to their promises, but still. Within the first ten minutes I was already disappointed.

I started my fourth ME2 run as Vanguard.
1st was Infiltrator: not su much fun.
2nd was Soldier: fun, but bit boring: only gunz.
3rd was Adept. Best fun. Warp Explosion all over the galaxy.
Now Vanguard's Charge with Geth Shotgun is insane fun.

The Mass Effect: Genesis digital comic that PS3 players could use to generate ME1 savegames is now available for the 360. 320 MS points is a bit steep, though, if you ask me.
Just went through an ME1/2 playthrough, myself, so I don't really have a need for it. Might get it if I decide to reroll another Shepard before ME3 hits.

I could see it maybe having to be pay on Xbox, since Microsoft has screwy rules about that sort of thing, but there's no reason why it should cost "Bioware Points" on PC.

I loved Mass Effect 2 but I really hate all the variables that deteremine who survives at the end.

As it is, your last mission immediately after should still show as the Suicide Mission, so you can replay it right away, and the whole thing only takes like 20-30 minutes.

I actually wanted to come out of the suicide mission with a few squad members lost. I thought it would be kind of lame having everyone survive a 'suicide mission' but that's how it worked out. The fact that Kaiden Alenko had to die back on Virmire but god damn Jack is still alive is nothing less than a tragedy. Lest we forget.

Just got ME1 for PC from Play.com, and now I can't install it, because the copy protection code is incomprehensible. Can't make out what some of the numbers/letters are. =(
I wonder should I contact Play.com, or EA, or Bioware? The problem is, I can't even take a photo of the code (in case it's needed) because it's so blurry, and my camera isn't that good.

With the help of my girlfriend the code was deciphered. Old man & old eyes = can't see shit. =D
ME turned out to be the most problematic game to install I've yet encountered. Installing the patches normally resulted with an error note, and trying to launch the game normally resulted with nothing. The patches and DLC had to be installed in Windows XP (SP2) compatibility mode, and the game had to be launched in the same mode + the executable file had to be run as administrator. Phew. Well, at least it works now.
