Mass Effect: Andromeda - The First 45 Minutes (Gamespot)

What are people complaining about? It looks like Mass Effect, better than the previous entries, but in essence, the same. Yes, animations aand faces are not the best, but it looks just like what I assume was expected from a Mass Effect game?

What are the problems people have with this other than animations, faces and maybe hate for EA and Bioware because of ME3?

Yes, this is clearly labeled and is actually a better consumer option since it unlinks the physical items from a version of the game that may or may not be available for them.

Neither version the remote controlled or the dicast collectores edition come with the game. Every other collectors edition I'v seen and bought comes with the game.

It makes no sense to charge $100+ and not include the game period. And I don't see it as a great option as you so call it.

Well, It's not like a lot of people were disappointed in Bioware's writing and game mechanics choices in their past few games or anything.

Nah, pretty sure it's just irrational hate.

I didn't say it is irrational.

I just don't understand what people expected? It looks like a Bioware game. It looks like an improved ME3, and kinda feels like Mass Effect Inquisition.

I hope writing is better, but in any case, I don't think it is reasonable to expect anything different that what we have been getting from Bioware for the past few games.

Anything better will be a welcomed surprise.

I just read Shinobi's thread about having played 3 hours and his post kinda reflects what I mean.

I thought that was a pretty solid start to the game based on the vague plot descriptions we've been given. Not sure why Bioware is so intent on holding this stuff close to the chest.

It just looks dated and conspiring how long it has been since the last Mass Effect and how much better other developers are doing in the open world RPG space it seems like Bioware has not been keeping up.

I hope it turns out good but yea there's lots to be skeptical about.

Again, where are these masses of open world RPG's with character creators that looks miles ahead of Mass Effect? The only example I can think of is Fallout 4, and that's not much of a looker either compared to something like The Witcher 3 or whatever.

Welp, if the OG PS4 performance is really this choppy I guess I'm cancelling my preorder and waiting for Persona 5. I'll still wait for the EA Acces impressions from the Xbox One version.

Man this bums me out. I still have hope though.

*vomits in mouth*

I can't think of a worse way in which this game could turn out than "mass effect : inquisition"

Lol, sorry for putting that thought in your mind.

I hope it does turn out good. We will see!

How is it shit throwing when the video is by GameSpot and they open the steel book to show nothing. Why include a steel book then? And I do remember all the shit Wolfenstein got for pulling the same thing. This is no different. Doesn't make sense when many if not most publishers/developers ship the game with the collectors edition.

Wait... so there is a steelbook (like in steelcase) without the disc being in it? I am deff understanding this the wrong way lol

daddy cro-magnon.

People seem to mistake design for graphics. Yes it looks like a Mass Effect game because it was designed that way. Does it mean it's dated? Well, if it carries on with similar designs as before from some 5 years ago then yes, kinda'.
But look at it closely and I really think it is not. My only complaint in the look of the game are the eyes of characters. I don't know what they've done but they look so weird. The texture and colouring is just off. Shame as the skin texture is pretty good. Also the facial animation seemed a little better. Less pouty lips when speaking.
Still in a little over 24hrs many will get to see for themselves good and proper though it will do little to quieten peoples opinions I think.
Also the custom Sara Ryder looked pretty good.

Amazon.co.uk sales the steel case separately for around 15 pounds. Can't find it in my country through.

Well that is something i can understand. But to include an empty steelcase seems kinda weird to me. Dunno if thats the (empty) case tho.

And people were saying that devs wouldn't sacrifice 40 million player base with shitty performance on base PS4, when pro was announced.

I think the performance would be the same without the pro tbh. This is on Bioware not optimizing the game propperly on each system. I expect the X1 to be worse.. Sadly

Edit: correct me if wrong

And people were saying that devs wouldn't sacrifice 40 million player base with shitty performance on base PS4, when pro was announced.

And what will be xbones excuse? Why do people think the standard ps4 version got shafted instead of the ps4 pro version simply and obviously being better? The game would have ran just as shit on ps4 whether the pro existed or not.

So which is it? Shitty optimization? Or the PRO having enough horse power to run the game properly?

Because either way it's sort of shit show.

How do you know the performance wouldn't be the same if the Pro didn't exist? Lets see how the Xbox One fares. If it's the same as base PS4, what's the excuse?

Shitty optimization and only mostly showing people PC footage rather than Console footage.

I'm afraid I kind of agree Ryder, but I'm still going to get this game day 1. Something to play while I wait for Persona 5.

IGN is playing it now:

https://www.twitch.tv/ign

Appears to be the PC version. Looks and runs way better than the PS4 version on the OP's video.

Well, the lighting and shadowing look better, as does the framerate. Since it's twitch I can't really saymore than that.

Only watched a little bit to avoid much in the way of spoilers. Much more pleasant performance. Also a fun choice for a character

Animations have always sucked for mass effect unfortunately and I do feel complaints are justified. I remember how much I hated mass effect 1 for its gameplay but I fell in love with the story, more, and hilarious decisions

I'm really curious to know what went wrong with the facial animations. They look like dolls at times. The animations were fine in DA:I. How are they worse now?

No shit Nolan North isn't voicing the main character? it sounds exactly like him.

Ha, they had an interview with the VAs and the Male Ryder VA joked that he was sorry to disappoint people that BioWare hadn't cast Nolan North...who'd probably be more expensive :P
