If they gonna ruin it like Rings of Power might as well not bother. But...at least we know ME5 is safe, no way EA doesnt give a chance if there is a series in the works due to the Fallout/Last of US effect, aka promo, so at least there that. Even if Veilguard has cringe dialogue, I still have faith in the next ME, that Michael Gamble guy seems like a decent chap.

This will be tough to do but man if done right this could be one of the best sci-fi shows there is. I have 0 faith in that happening though and I suspect this will be a failure for my favorite series of all time. At the end of ME2 right now.

ME5 was announced and has been in production for a long time, and already has teasers out, its always been safe.

I'm guessing its mostly set on a near future Earth with first contact, maybe even a derelict Mass Effect station found in the solar system and we fire it up (I forget of thats the actual ME lore) and do stuff with very few aliens. Other than the Asari and Quarians I can't imagine they would have the budget for the others (maybe Volons). So very much human focused, just a few prosthetic aliens, and all the radical ones kept to a minimum.

Though maybe Amazon can siphon a few hundred million from Rings of Power and give us a grand Star Trek type experience with fully realized aliens.

Not if EA decided to close the studio. Visceral also had a game in dev when they got closed.
We could only be so lucky for EA to kill modern BIOWARE and sell the ME license to someone else. Sadly they never would, they just give the IP to a different internal studio.

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
Jesus christ just fucking stop it already with this video game adaptation bullshit

You're telling me people at Amazon cant come up with their own original space sci fi show? Ugh go fuck yourself
It's the "we are going to put in the minimum effort to try and cash on some nerds nostalgia" kind of scheme, I bet.

Hope I'm wrong, but yeah not very optimistic.

The first half of that announcement had me excited and then I saw the end of the sentence and lost hope.

Nope I disagree. Do you not see that the video game industry is hurting right now as far as rising cost? We need more companies like Amazon, HBO, etc pouring money into these IPs to make the overall industry healthier. This is a good thing. Will also help bring in more players who might not have ever thought about playing games.

I'm curious about that as well. Clearly the Mass Effect name cares some cache and has an audience already, but I wonder if Amazon went after it specifically, had a show "close enough" to ME that the lawyers told them to just secure the license anyway, or if there was some deal that got them the license and now they are just gonna slap it on any old show.

I just watched "Teacup" on peacock (maybe paramount) and it was sooooo loosely based on the 80's book "Stinger" that it really made no sense to even link the two. Stinger wasn't really used in the name or the marketing, so I wonder if the project just drifted really far away during the adaptation process or if it was a total name grab that they then abandoned but were stuck with the "based on Stinger" part based on the contract.

God of War, Mass Effect, Persona, Fallout, Yakuza.............How many video games does Amazon plan to adapt? It's like they're just picking a random popular game and hoping it'll make good content. In fact, it doesn't even need to be good because Amazon know the fans of the game will come running, regardless of the quality.

Didn't workout for that Halo show. Fans will coming run at first but will leave quickly.

I expected Fallout to be utter shite and it wasnt and with a bit of luck this could turn out good as well but I expect this to be shite as well.

You're not gonna want to bang anyone when you see Normandy's super diverse and progressive crew.
Thats fine, so long as they are PROFESSIONALS. What gets me is the propensity for modern writers to hyper-focus on extensive personal trauma as the main character trait to the point where the ENTIRE bridge crew is full of folks with mortal vendettas against each other, crippling phobias, devastating mental health issues, profound physical disabilities, and an ABSOLUTE INABILITY to cope with stress or pressure. So far from an actual high performance crew that it's completely distracting. Sure, each character needs to be a three dimensional character but the story needs to focus on external threats rather than internal perpetual conflict.

I still want some eye candy, but yeah, I would settle for a professional military crew, the problem is that you need someone who understands the military to be able to write characters with proper attitudes.

I can’t see it happening. To do it justice each episode would cost the gdp of a small country. It’s the same reason why I don’t think 40k is happening either.

And now you gon' be with me for the last ride

UOOOO ooooh OUW!

Let's say that is not that hard to do a Mass Effect series. JJ Abrahams Star Trek has that kind of vibe already.
