That's not good though. Labour doesn't want to have big swings in safe seats; that means they're doing worse in the marginals.

i get the maths but how do you get good swings in marginals without getting good swings in safe seats too?

Blergh. Need to relax away from all this stressful shit and not think about the future for a bit.

Maybe I should actually play a game for once instead of staying on NeoGAF all the time. XD

Gotta say though, this is the first time I've spent an election with GAF, and it's been a really good experience. Way more entertaining than any of the tv coverage. :p

Feeling the exact same way right now. First time voting (Labour, pls pls pls more than 239), first time doing it with GAF. Been great so far :)

Pardon my ignorance, what does the phrase 'lib Dems lost their deposit' mean?

Also, I am I right to assume that the close seats will all come a lot later on?

Please everyone take care of each other tonight. So many are already close to losing hope. Reach out to that friend. I mean it. #GE0215

Is there no giant green screen swing-o-meter this year? or is all this giant touch screen app stuff?

That's just politicians in general, they are all punchable ;)

But i will, and did vote for Cameron over Miliband and Balls everyday of the week with stronger leadership, i'd have more of a choice, Labour get in in my area anyway.

"Strong leadership."

What does this mean? Are we not voting for ideas and policies?

You pay £500 to stand as a candidate, if you do anywhere near well (5%+) you get your money back.

This is to stop ridiculous numbers of joke candidates standing for each seat

Once again, the Tory loss is way smaller than the UKIP gain.

Turnout's pretty shit, too, so it's not like they're a load of new voters, unless a load of Lib Dems all stayed at home which I guess they must have - it's not like many will have moved from Lib to UKIP.

I would disagree, I think most of the UKIP gain from the two Sunderland seats thus far has been from the Lib Dems.

It means they didn't get enough of the vote to get back the £500 you have to put forward to stand.

That's brought back some memories from my childhood. All I can remember is wanting to run around on it...

You have to pay £500 to get on the ballot. If you get at least 5% of the vote you get it back - it's to stop joke candidates doing it on a whim. So losing your deposit basically means you did dog shit.

The Lib Dems aren't getting their money back.

When I had times off school I used to watch him jump around and everyone watching would cheer when he did a rather large jump over the gaps, and that one time he fell in lol

The Liberal Democrats really do not have much financial support. 10 seats and ~450 lost deposits might genuinely mean their collapse as a party; they won't be able to contest nation-wide next election. Won't have the money.

Yeah, but it's real lives that will be fucked over if the Tories govern again.

Over on Channel 4, they're looking at what parliament looks like if only doggers voted.

UKIP majority. Conservative vote collapses.

If Farage doesn't win his seat the parties dead right? Those strong gains will all be gone in 5 years time

No. 5 million votes don't disappear overnight. Carswell would do fine as UKIP leader.
