I still think it's early. It's unlikely they're going to get a majority. It may not be as good as in the weeks leading up to it, but it's not bright.

Still, the consolation is seeing Pants-Down eat his hat.

I've got to get up in 6 hours and can't take any more of this. Time to head to bed and then plan my move to the socialist paradise of Scotland on my way to work tomorrow.

It's still pretty early.

Baffling how all the polling got it so wrong.
I suspect an issue with the pre-election polls is that a lot of people polled might have just said who they'd like but not actually voted.

There's also the possibility that a lot of polling was done online, and a good number of Conservative voters are older people who may not be Internet savvy enough to have participated.

I don't get it, I just don't get it. We had all those polls, all those debates...and suddenly everything's wrong and the Tories are racing back down Downing Street.

Leave him alone, Andrew. He can't spin any harder, there's nothing left.

More bad news for Labour. Safe Labour seat in Wrexham but no real gain in Labour vote.

Lib Dems down 20%.

2.9% swing Lab to Tory.

The problem of Labour is that Miliband is the most unpopular, un-ministerial leader it had in years - that's it, this makes up at least 50% of the problem.

isn't the swing bollocks because its lib con swing not labour

labour seem buggered but all the swing calculation seems like a bad stat given how far past the 2 party system we are.
they had a 3 way swingometer last time and we need it again to show the utter distraction of the libdems

Labour actually have 20 more votes there than last time. This has to be the apparently mental Lib Dem vote going right wing...? They were down 20%.

I have to admit the United Kingdom is finished. No way Scotland will stay now, I will be voting yes in next referendum it's very clear we have nothing in common with England any longer.

How bad does Ed Miliband have to be in order for a Lib Dem voter to switch to UKIP and Conservative rather than Labour? David on his way back!

I just have this hilarious image in my head of the Lib Dems being wiped out and a new leader being elected with his only other Lib Dem parliamentary colleague being Clegg.

Swing to the Tories from Labour in WALES? I fucking live in Wales and that's unbelievable. Everyone one I know here adores Labour and hates the Tories. How in the fuck? Also this is quite exciting. It's brightened up my night for sure. Super curious to see how all of this turns out. Will we know by the early hours of the morning (GMT) where everything stands?

No. The problem runs deeper than that. Miliband's figures are better than Brown's, for example. If leadership was the relevant factor, you'd expect a recovery on the basis, if not a fantastic one. This goes further than that. This is an absolutely fundamental problem at the core of the Labour party and there's going to be a far more serious rebuilding period.

For what it is worth, I genuinely expect Scotland to be out of the UK and the rUK to be out of the EU within the next 10 years. It's simply not realistic to expect Scotland to desire to stay when England returns this sort of response to a Scottish request for reconsideration of relations.

Jeez oh Labour Scotland getting salty. Cmon guys, the real battle for you was always in England. Should be pounding the torries down South. When Scotland votes SNP, we are voting SNP. We are not voting torries. Stop asking people to vote tactically.

Edit: Holy shit betrayed the people of Scotland? Fuck off.
