I want to see Pac win by knockout in round 10, I think what we'll see is an average fight going the whole 12 rounds followed by a decision in Mayweathers favour.

Is anyone here in the Philippines? Kind of fascinating how the country is set to literally grind to a halt during the fight, would be interesting to read first hand accounts from there.

Tyson is spot on though, and for the correct reasons too.

Everyone who hangs with Floyd including the women and strippers are all paid to hang with him. He only stays in this bubble of his entourage and of paid strippers, while Ali was and is among the people. Ali had the world behind him.

It is a delusional to compare Floyd to Ali.

Also, yea Floyd will win. They are older, when obviously technique is more and raw athleticism isn't as important. 6 yrs ago, when Pac wrecked Cotto, Floyd was freaked the eff out, but now, he should be able to handle Pac.

Make no doubt though, Floyd DID duck Pac. Floyd also originally ducked Cotto, and Margarito, when he was wrecking the WW division. Floyd and his team always thought Cotto was an unstoppable killer, and actually WANTED to fight Pac before the Cotto fight.

Floyd Sr. is on record, before Cotto Pac, that Floyd and Pac coulda made so much money, that they should fight each other, that they are pushing Pac too far, that he will get Koed, Cotto too big too strong. They thought Pac fighting Cotto was insane and that he would get wrecked. Cotto was the GGG of the WW division back then, to step up and KO him by Manny was unthinkable to many.

Well, after Manny steamrolled Cotto, Floyd was piss scared, and adamant Manny is cheating. Well, 6 yrs later, after the Kos stopped and his prime is well over, Floyd is ready.

Floyd will win, its a good bet. But I sooooo hope I am wrong.

i don't know anything about boxing, but looking it up on wikipedia this cotto guy lost to someone i've never heard of about a year before he fought pacquiao. why would anyone think he is an "unstoppable killer"?

UK Gaf, who else is torn between staying up and waking up early? I think a nice kip in the afternoon will set me up for getting to my mates at 00:00 ish and just go from there. Getting old.

Oh and like the rest of the world it seems, heart wants Manny but head says Mayweather.

Floyd Mayweather by murder. TKO 10 or 11. Floyd isn't a lightweight that's come up to fight at 147 for the first time. He's not coming off of a loss. He's bigger, stronger, more durable, more skilled and the speed is negligible. I cannot wait for this six year headache to be over. All the verbal abuse floyd has taken over the years, saying that he has run from this fight. Floyd can't hit the Brian kennys and Jim lampleys of the world, but he can hit Manny, who is the embodiment of the bullshit. Manny wants to talk about the bible, cool because floyd is coming to exercise some demons. No need for us floyd fans to brag, there will just be finality in saying we told you so.

Poor, poor you and the woman beater. As you said your 'headache' will soon be over one way or another. He did run, he ran till he couldn't run anymore. I think if Manny doesn't knock Floyd out. It'll goes the distance and Floyd will get the decision.

Because that "unknown" likely had loaded gloves. In the rematch, Cotto kicked his ass.

Also, someone made a valid point that Mayweather likely ducked Margarito, dude was huge, and when Margarito confronted him he was all like "yes sir, no sir" lol:

Then after years of Mayweather avoiding him, watching Pacquiao do this to someone so much bigger than him was incredible:

I also hope Manny wins, solely because Mayweather is intensely unlikeable.

My thoughts pretty much. Also because Pac just seems extremely humble and also charitable. Although I do get the feeling Mayweather will win. He's already loaded his house full of expensive Champagne for the victory after party, so it would be amusing if he lost lol. If I was him though, win or lose I'd have that big party. Why not?

Antonio Margarito, that guy who beat Cotto, got caught with loaded hand-wraps in his next fight (which led to a big scandal in the sport) and it is believed by everyone that he had loaded wraps in the Cotto fight as well. Cotto knocked him out in the rematch.

The short answer on Cotto is that he was undefeated outside of the Margarito debacle, and he was considered to be physically bigger than Floyd or Manny. The latter point is mostly nonsense though. Cotto turned pro when he was 20 at 140 pounds and Manny turned pro when he was 16 at 106 pounds. But Manny and Cotto have roughly the same height and the same reach. The second half of Manny's career has greatly benefited from the false perception that he is physically smaller than his opponents at welterweight. Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, and Miguel Cotto all thought they could simply walk through Pacquiao and they all got knocked out. Future opponents learned that they simply couldn't ignore Pacquiao's punches, and as a result he hasn't scored a single knock out since then. His last one was 6 years ago.

Here is a really interesting article on this topic.

But, to respond to Bluefoot more broadly, he is talking out of his ass. Mayweather would have been the prohibitive betting favorite against Cotto at any point in their careers.

Here's another one that was during the last conference: Mike Tyson on Floyd Mayweather: 'I try to stay as far away from dirt as possible'

They've had beef with each other for awhile now.
Iron Mike said:
“Coming to the press conference, it was very subtle, very nice, very polite here. It feels like I’m in, not church, but like a library, so to speak,” Tyson said. “Maybe I’m a Neanderthal. I’d want to kill the other guy.

“Boxing’s different from when I boxed. These are businessmen up there. … And I’m a natural born killer, and I want to win, I want to win in dramatic fashion, and I want to hurt people."
♥ Tyson

He was the smaller man in all of those fights. Much smaller than Margarito for sure. But they were all at catchweights that forced the larger guys to drop more weight than usual. I think Cotto boxed Manny pretty well. He wasn't just moving forward like De La Hoya and Margarito. He just got caught by a shitload of power shots and combinations. De La Hoya was out by the end of the 2nd round.

Taught history this morning, overheard students were excited for the fight this weekend, since it is friday i talked about the history of manny and mayweather, also showed the HBO documentary

Wish I took your class back when I was in school. Seem like a cool teacher.

Can't wait to tune into the weigh-in later today.

I want Pac to win, but Im pretty sure he's going to get his ass kicked really badly. If this was 5 years ago, then maybe it'd be different, but ever since he got KO'd that one time he's never been the same.

I actually think Mayweather may finally get a knockout this match.

you can expect to literally roll around in the streets, zero crime during that time etc... everyone will be glued to a TV/screen

what time is the weigh in, that'll be interesting

3PM I've heard.

I'll tell you something that you may not know or know yet.

When Manny was fighting early before he won his first World Championship on the Flyweight division, his hair was dyed blonde.

People can stop saying this already. He's fought 3 times since the KO, and demolished all 3 fighters, two of them were undefeated, and one of the undefeated fighters he knocked down 6 times.

didnt he dye it also with blonde or orange streaks in it as well

When I was still living there, everything would stop during Pacquiao fights. The streets become empty, not a lot of vehicles in the road, crime rates go down, etc. Everyone is either tuned in at home, at some bar/resto, at a cinema hosting the fight or gathered around in some public place where the fight would be shown via projectors or large screen TVs.

Sure is something

Rios is the epitome of face first plodder, if Manny couldn't look good against him then he shoulda retired. I'll give you Bradley and Algeri though.

In that second matchup with Bradley, he pretty much punched his ass into submission though. Bradley actually did very decent in boxing Manny in the 2nd half of the first fight. Once Manny put his foot on the gas in the 2nd fight, he didn't want none of that and was on the bicycle the rest of the fight. Same thing happened in the Mosley fight where he just decided to make it to the end. I think Manny could have ended Margarito if he truly wanted to. Most of the late rounds Manny was looking at the ref like "stop this already." It wasn't anything like the Manny who went after a beaten Barrera in those late rounds like he wanted to kill him.

This will be the typical Floyd fight.

He will dodge and counter punch his way through 12 rounds to end in an easy decision.

I hope Manny proves me wrong, but I doubt it.

Pretty sure Ruslan was robbed by Algeri.

True, Pacquiao was also robbed against Bradley so he shouldn't have been undefeated for their 2nd fight, but just proving a point.

Yeah it was the perfect fighter to choose for his first comeback fight. Point is, this isn't the Roy Jones-like downfall people are making it out to be. If anything, it's more like Lennox after the first McCall fight. He got caught, ok that sucks, but he came back as if it never happened.

Says the boxing insider....... How in the hell did Floyd duck all those fighters and this is the first I have heard of it?
Matter fact, I want to see your evidence......
And why should anyone care about who Floyd pays to hang out with him?
You see a real boxing fan judge the boxer for what he does in the ring, not what he does outside the ring.

The idea that Mayweather ducked all these great fighters that otherwise would've demolished him is absolutely ludicrous.

His opponents have not been on the same level as Floyds opponents since the his KO.
I would like to see Pacman do to Midana and Canelo what Floyd did to them.

He would obliterate both of them, same as he has done to the other fighters Mayweather has merely won a boring decision against.

i don't know anything about boxing, but looking it up on wikipedia this cotto guy lost to someone i've never heard of about a year before he fought pacquiao. why would anyone think he is an "unstoppable killer"?

The guy you never heard of is, one of the biggest welterweights the division has ever seen, and everyone knows the dude was wearing loaded gloves when he beat Cotto. Regardless, Marg was a god damned freaking killer too.

That guy you never heard of, Floyd wanted none of. Floyd was offered 8 million to fight that guy, Marg, and refused. Fought Baldomir for less.

Also, this is all on record. Floyd Sr. himself said all of that. That Cotto is a killer, that Cotto would annihilate Pac, too big too strong. Cotto had a KILLER left hook too. Floyd and team Floyd thought Cotto was going to KO Pac. Was sure of it. Many people were.

There's no doubt, that Floyd was avoiding Cotto, was not interested in that fight back then, and once Pac stomped Cotto, Floyd went nuts, went scared, was always sure Pac was cheating.

Like I said, Floyd actually WANTED to fight Pac, before Cotto. Floyd Sr. said Pac was dumb to take this fight, when he could've waited for Floyd. Funny thing is Floyd used to actually be a huge Pac fan, but after killing Cotto, Floyd's ego made him go nuts.

I don't think Pacquiao is going to get past Cotto," Roger Mayweather said. "He may beat Cotto, but he's got to show it to me. Why would you fight a fight of that nature, and that big of the risk, with the kind of money him and Floyd could make? That doesn't make sense to me."

Mayweather Sr. trained Ricky Hatton for a second-round blowout loss to Pacquiao earlier this year but predicted the bigger Cotto would prevail.

"I do think that with his strength and power, the way he hits to the body, the way he hits to the head, I think he's got enough to take Pacquiao," Mayweather Sr. said. "I think they're really pushing Pacquiao too much."

Once, Pac wrecked someone as highly regarded as Cotto, who they really really rated, there was no way Floyd was going to fight that.
