Its been dead for 40 years then. Because this was a lot better than ALI laying on the ropes all night against Foreman.

Geoge Foreman's puffy face disagrees with this analysis.

I think Mayweather will play it very defensively and win it in a rather uneventful 117-111 type of fight.

500$ in the bank.

crazy how fast it flew by, wanted pacquio to unleash but he just couldnt pin floyd down

i won some money so its not all bad. but i feel the need to watch some uncivilized mma ufc beat down because that fight wasn't satisfying.

Dude, they just put Rousey in a ring next to The Rock in front of 80k live and 1.4M world wide. I gotta think they're getting more out of that then the next 40 second snuff film she stars in on PPV.

And I don't agree with Brock. There's some draw in seeing an uber-athletic 300 pound man-beast tear around the ring and utterly demolish Frank Mir. It's not all post show.

On the first paragraph.. nope.

On the second... it's Frank Mir breh. His jitz is legit but we're talking about jitz in a division that tops out at 265lbs (not 300). Carwin beat the brakes off Brock in the first in a fight that should've been stopped. Cain beat the brakes off him too and walked away with the win. I'd even argue that Cain is more athletic than Brock as he can rock at the same pace for all 5 rounds.

Because being technical appears to most as running/hugging, and an exciting fight that does not make.

Larry Holmes was extremely technical and he almost never clinched. It's a shame that the term has taken on negative connotations.

Just like I said, Pac ain't got shit on Mayweather. Idc if the guy is an asshole, he's the best boxer right now and has been since he entered the pros.

Watching the fight with Pac fans was the best. Talking shit before the fight, shut throughout the fight when they saw pac wasn't landing hits. He was outboxed

When asked for his thoughts on the matchup, Roach interjected swiftly. “If (Mayweather) shows up,” he said. “I am still worried about that. I won’t believe it until I see him in front of us in the ring.”

USA TODAY Sports repeatedly quizzed Roach as to whether he was joking, or merely trying to fan the flames of controversy in the build-up to the clash. Each time he was adamant that he held genuine concerns that Mayweather could cook up an excuse to miss the fight, such as a training injury or an illness.

Yes, like I say, most fight fans don't really understand what they are watching.
People can't have different opinions on what they find entertaining? As long as they acknowledge the technical skill and defensive brilliance they can still find it boring as shit. Doesn't mean the people are casual or uninformed it means they prefer more aggressive fighters. So many couch experts all of a sudden acting like their opinion is the only valid one.

Mayweather several times put his chin out there taunting Pac to hit him. Pac got out boxed. Period.

This. Mayweather is a very skilled boxer and there's a good reason why he's undefeated. However, his brand of boxing is very boring.

I like Wladimir Klitschko style better.

Damn shame. If Money wasn't such a bitch and fought Pacman 5 or so years ago when he should have, Pac probably could have pulled the victory. He waited until Pacman was on a downward trend and wasn't at his peak.

*sigh*

Money was more mobile five years ago and Pac was more reckless. The only thing that would have changed is Mayweather would have taken 10 rounds instead of 8.

Mayweather was even faster five years ago, and had legitimate power at the time. Not to mention the fact that Mayweather is well on his way to being 39 years old. Just saying.

Are there fans of any fighter who don't "talk shit?" I want to meet these kind and gentle folks.

I get being let down and finding it boring...but its like people wanted Floyd to go against what works to put on a show...that's stupid.

I like crazy YOLO fights like the next guy but at the end of the day, you should do what gets you a win...and not punched in the face a lot.

If Rocky was real...he'd be dead right now.

Floyd says he will relinquish all belts monday.

Smart move...no money will need to be paid to the governing bodies for his "last" fight (If it truly is his last fight).

The same time elapsed for Mayweather. Pac got his shot and he blew it.

Yes, that was his master plan.

In fairness, that fight was boring as shit until it wasn't.

Boring, by what standards? In the first round, Ali came out hard and fought George head to head. He only then leaned on the ropes after he had made the point that could he could fight George anyway he wanted. The rest of the night Ali took his opponent to school whilst proving he could take his blows. What made that fight phenomenal was the build up to it. Ali was considered out of his prime, washed up and sure to lose by so many, and he proved them all wrong. His post interview is legendary for that reason alone.

You realize Lightweights in MMA are 10lbs heavier than what we saw tonight though right? Lightweight and Middleweight (155 and 185 respectively) are the sweet spot for MMA. Though 145 has it's moments as well.

Yes, but as I said, whos really watching lightweights fight? Lightweights dont bring in the masses in UFC. Who besides hardcore UFC fans know who the current champ (Anjos) is?
