I really see where you guys come from, but it's not going to click that Wii is selling out EVERY week, LOWER AND LOWER until I get some concrete evidence. I think some are just not being picked up because of the lack of software coming out. Naruto and Fire Emblem don't cater to Japanese, non-traditional gamers fyi.

The comment about you not thinking DS is selling substantially more in Japan than US, Pureauthor, I hope you can now see as well....

No input form you ethel? I'd expect you'd be the first ;)

Wii systems consistently sell out in Japan and I was there to witness it. Here are the online stores of Japan's most popular retailers:

Amazon itself is sold out
, with 57 used systems for sale at ~30,000 Yen starting, 5,000 Yen above the MSRP.

Sold out at Toys R Us Japan.

Sold out at Bic Camera.

Sold out at Yodobashi Camera.

Sold out at Sofmap.

STOP BEING IGNORANT PLEASE KTHXBYE.

Maybe the DS has better games in Japan? Seriously if I was Japanese I would have atleast 3 more games on the DS than i have now. Uncharted Waters:Rota Nova, Etrian Odessy, Megaman ZX. I looked up ds sales in the US and it goes roughly 400k for September, then 360k, then 900k for december, and 1.6million for december. For those 4 months alone it was 3.26 million.

This proves how sloppy the western devs are on the DS. Still the best selling games on the DS are Japanese.(NSMB, Nintendogs, Brain Training).

Megaman ZX is out in the US...

Gamecube Hut Japan probably has a bunch in stock.

Wii sales for last week are worrisome. The trend is obviously downward. From my understanding, they only sold about 63% of that particular shipment.

Look for around 41k for next week.

I approve of this post. Well Etrian Odyssey, is coming to the US eventually, and we already have Megaman ZX, but we'll never ever ever see Uncharted Waters here... It sold precisely 3 copies in japan. That makes me a sad panda.

Huh? Gundam Musou can't be THAT popular. Or well, hopefully on the Wii itself isn't declining drastically.

Edit: Holy shit, how did I not know he was joking? Yeah, I'm pretty retarded.

The decline of the Uncharted Waters franchise saddens me to no end. I really, really loved New Horizons... seeing the games nonexistant now in the US, and not even really faring particularly well in Japan, is a great shame. But I wish someone could've localized Rota Nova (for DS or PSP, I don't care) for North America -- it would've been better than a lot of the shit these companies are picking up.

It's such a shame, really... I blame the non-games. :(

Well, I was just looking up the Uncharted Waters Online MMO, and it seems it's supposed to come out this year for the US. Maybe Koei will bring the PSP or DS versions over as a promotion? Or just if it does well here. /pipedream

Please elaborate. Sorry, my sarcasm meter is broken so I can't really detect anything.

I-it's the stock sale by the government. They're such a good creditor that Japanese gamers instantly took notice and not only stopped buying Wiis, but started throwing them into the ocean with great force. Seems like it could be the end.

At this rate, the Wii will be selling less than zero copies a week by the end of next month!

Props Pureauthor, PROPS.

Best prediction I have EVER seen in a sales thread.

Uh... hardly much of a prediction. It's like, a constant of the universe or something.

BBA is out next month too.

I was going to make a comment on how Big Brain Academy didn't take off like Brain training and more brain training cause it only sold between 1 and 2 million copies. But then i realized how stupid it would be to say that. All those four million sellers really raised that bar.

Ah, yeah, didn't recignize the letters. :)

Considering how many people to took to make BBA (probably like 10) and development cost, they made a LOT of money off of that game.

Super Paper Mario, and BBA... Nice.

TopDreg

BBA, along with Super Paper Mario, will ensure that the Wii never stops selling out until the release of Super Mario Galaxy, which will propel the Wii to unforetold non-game status. Those two games alone are what's gonna set the Wii.

The sales of the Brain-Age games are just amazing. Given that there's an obvious fanbase for it in Japan, that very fanbase would question the logic in buying the much more expensive PS3 when games such as Brain Age would see very marginal improvement on such a system over the much cheaper Wii. That's one major advantage the Wii has. No publisher out there would want to develop thinker games like Brain Age on the PS3, given that there'd obviously be no audiance.

I have to wonder if a game made specificly for handhelds will sell on a console.

Is it going to be budget priced like BBA for the DS was?

Probably. Them smart people know better than to buy $50 priced games.

yeah, unfortunately for nintendo they've smartened everyone up with Brain Training so they know when they're getting ripped off

So wait, moku comes out of nowhere and says Wii only sold about 63% of it's shipment... and everyone gets shocked as if they believe him.

Where were you same people just a page earlier when people were attacking me for thinking it wasn't selling out? Were you just being nosy nancies and watching, agreeing with my question, but too afraid to speak up? Or just inpartial until a non-junior member came and made the same statement.

Either way, if moku is telling the truth, I'm 2 for 2 in this MC

moku was kidding, and I already posted proof that your theories are incorrect earlier in the thread.

I see your links. I'm almost satisfied. So if your guy's ridiculous ideals are correct, nintendo Weekly shipments would look like this (counting MC undertracking):

86395 ~ 90,000 shipped
83754 ~ 85,000 shipped
65740 ~ 70,000 shipped
78550 ~ 80,000 shipped
63618 ~ 70,000 shipped
78506 ~ 80,000 shipped
57972 ~ 60,000 shipped

Why limit the consoles' potential like that? Makes no sense to me but alas, I grow weary.

I just got back from a sneak preview of the movie "Shooter" by the way. It's an excellent movie that I encourage you all to go watch. Rated R though for you < 18 year olds

I would say the most obvious reason is Nintendo trying to get more into Europe and NA since it seems clear its trouncing the PS3. Also probably trying to build up a good supply for April.

Why does the DSL fluctuate?

Nearly all of 2006 proved that shipments aren't the same each and every week for the DS and it's the same for the Wii.

Is Sony releasing anything worth noting in April for the PS3? If not, Nintendo's going to give Sony a thrashing it may not recover from.

Only one game is coming out in April apparently, and that's on April 1: Pro Yakyuu Spirits 4 and that's not by Sony. Should be a notable title, but as far as GameFAQs' highly accurate release list is concerned, that's all. Meanwhile Nintendo has SPM and BBA lined up for that period.

Not too much... two PS2 baseball games charted during the same period, stealing away sales if I remember correctly.. I'd say less than 15K.

A baseball sim, eh? Despite how popular baseball is in Japan, I doubt it'll make much of an impact. April MC is gonna be real interesting.

Well all the hands-on reports I have seen on BBA were pretty positive. As a fan of the DS version I'll definetly give this one a closer look and I can only imagine that holds true for a lot of the people who bought it for the DS.
I don't think it will be a major system seller but I can see it moving good numbers.

Europe has gotten the short end of the stick if supplies are concerned. With Japan in the bag, they would want to get a stable base in Europe before the PS3 is out - since Europe is the only region where the PS3 price is not as crazy compared to last-gen (were the PS2 succesfully debuted at 499 or something in certain countries).

Maybe they felt not to push too hard since Europe is now considered a Sony Fortress?(tm) :lol

Well, considering how well the DS has been selling, plus the Wii. They might be storming the fortress. *shrug* Dunno though. LOTS of PS3 hype down there. What was it? A pre-order ever two seconds or something?

As far as my little town in germany is concerned the PS3 is creating little to no buzz...

They had demo units in Mediamarkt.. but no one was even touching it.. Well its no indication to how well the PS3 will do or not. but it was quite unusual..

I'm not feeling, seeing, hearing, smelling, or tasting this hype for PS3, and I live in the UK.

I think what's happening with the Wii situation at the moment is a certain amount of hoarding by Nintendo and its distributors because they have to rely on the current manufacturing capacity for hw supplies in April/May.

By the end of March Nintendo will have manufactured 7 million Wii's, but shipped only 6 million, so even though production will be increased in April the benefit of this will likely be unnoticed until May/June. Nintendo has shipped ~5 million units worldwide so far, and will have ~2 million to last them the next 6-8 weeks, but there are major releases and increased buying periods (Easter and Golden Week) coming next month which needs hw to be available in decent supply, so a certain amount is being held back in readiness.
