More to it...? Hmm? You don't get him or... you do but...?

Minor unlock spoiler:
According to the guide, Raiden can be unlocked in R&D with a certain special key item called a Grand Master Certificate, among other materials and staff requirements. The details of what you need for that Certificate are not fully known yet.

Just installed the PS4 update and it seems to have broken the game - it just stays in the loading screen and nothing happens.
Trying to delete the application data and see if that fixes it...

Question regarding motherbase, not really a spoiler... but still...

If your mother base is completely filled, but you fulton a soldier with A+ R&D, does he automatically replace a lesser unit? I'm asking because my MB tends to be full at times but I keep using fulton and my waiting room is always empty, I've noticed. This must mean that the game automatically fires other soldiers to make place?

For those that have it, is the open world totally empty? Did it need to be as big as it is?

It can be empty at times, yes. I don't mind that much, though. In a way, it gives the world a more realistic feeling. I know most people will find the empty spaces useless, but in real life not every area is filled with Ubisoft collectibles, right? But from a gameplay perspective, I can understand having empty spaces feels useless.

Dumb question, do you need to collect all the XOF patches in the main mission to unlock the two Extra OPs? I ask this because the last time I played, I didn't collect a single patch, but ended the mission with 8/9 and can't find out what happened to the 9th one. Would playing on Hard reset all the patch locations?

I wish Amazon would ship my copy already so I stop getting paranoid. They charged me and it's sitting in "shipping soon" all day. Usually they ship my games at around 6 on Sundays and it's 2 hours overdue. Panic time!? lol.

So how are you guys passing the time and celebrating until release? I'm replaying MGS3 HD on hard, and will pull an all-nighter tomorrow to finish it! So hyped, and 3 is still as amazing as ever!

See, to me the open world feels more like a means to an end then it being there strictly for having stuff to constantly see from the gameplay demos I've seen. Like, it's open for the sake of having more freedom to infiltrate areas, but not open world for the sake of there being tons to see / do.

Asked in the community thread, asking again: GAFers playing on PC can add me on Steam (KarasuEXE). Let's defend each other's FOBs!

Did you not do the rolling one?

it doesn't reset the patches on hard. Did you get the one on
snake himself? you have to roll around and then it will fall off of him.

Ubisoft collectibles would have been shit, yea. It kinda sounds like maybe the strongholds could have been a little closer together but I'll have to play it before I can judge.

A world doesn't need collectibles to be "Full". More like AI, civilians, wildlife, random events.

I thought I did, I got one like a few months ago when I played it at first, and used a guide to get the other 8 recently with the one at the prison camp seemingly already acquired when I got the other 8. I'll try again in a bit specifically to pick up the patches.

Yeah, I hate that it happened to me once before too. Anytime you change payments they delay the shipping. They're trolling me tonight though they're fairly tight with shipping games out at a specific time but still not shipped.

why is that non-canon shit (PORTABLE OPS, furthermore known as PoOps because it is shit) mentioned in the OP? Kojima straight up said it's not part of the metal gear saga...

I'm legit offended by its inclusion.

otherwise nice OP

It's too early for me to judge considering I haven't seen everything yet, but I feel the same way. You never really reach a point where there's nothing to do, though. Grab a vehicle or D-Horse and before you know it, you'll reach an enemy camp. But besides the camps and the occasional vehicle on the road, there aren't really many wandering enemies in Afghanistan. They're always located in a camp or a stronghold. That kinda makes sense, but yeah.

it doesn't have ubisoft collectibles but there's quite a lot of shit to collect on each map, regardless.

I'm gonna be legit bummed if there's nothing weird to find out in the middle of nowhere. Given how MGS has always rewarded players for poking around the edges it'll be a massive disappointment if that doesn't apply anymore.

Reviews I read seemed to indicate the world is worth exploring.
