it doesn't have ubisoft collectibles but there's quite a lot of shit to collect on each map, regardless.

True dat, but they're almost always located near a camp or stronghold. I don't think I've found many items outside of those. In a game like Assassin's Creed, even the lesser populated areas are filled with collectibles.

Minor unlock spoiler:
According to the guide, Raiden can be unlocked in R&D with a certain special key item called a Grand Master Certificate, among other materials and staff requirements. The details of what you need for that Certificate are not fully known yet.

Oh, that's interesting...

Ah, I can see it now.. The GOTY thread is gonna be beautiful.

If MGS4's wack ass can beat Fallout 3 on this website(twice), then surely MGS5(which is on way more consoles and PC and is also actually good apparently) shouldn't have much of an issue with Fallout 4/Witcher 3. The passionate support for Kojima's last Metal Gear will not be denied.

Its only real comp was Naughty Dog and UC4 and they moved out the way.

Oh christ, seems i'll be getting this game 2 weeks after release. Gonna miss all the hype together with people to not get myself more spoiled than i already am :(.

20 hours at 8% completion.

Loving almost everything so far. Horse travel is the only thing that I'm disappointed with.

I plan on getting a PS4 later this year, but I think I'm gonna play through it on PS3 first just so I can experience the story now.
Does anyone know how much HDD space the physical PS3 version needs?

How crazy would it be if it was something like requiring platinum trophies on all MGS games on your PSN account haha. Truly a grandmaster.

Bloodborne?

I think my vote will be for The Phantom Pain (unless something horribly wrong happens in the game as I haven't played it yet), I'll enjoy the anti-Kojima or anti-Japanese games salt.

But it wasn't in Kojimas trailer.

it's also not in the official timeline, and in an ign interview Kojima said "MGSV is the last in the Metal Gear saga" and then went on to list every game he was involved with as being in the Metal Gear Saga, then stated "even if the franchise continues, only these core games will part of the saga to me"

didn't mention PoOps once, but straight up listed even Metal Gear 1 and 2, along with MGS1-4, PW and GZ/TPP..

Its been awhile since I've been this hyped for a game. I was excited just setting up the preload on psn. I really didn't think we'd get another Kojima MGS after 4, but I'm glad we did. This one feels like the game MGS4 wanted to be. Kojima must've put it all on line to make this the game he wanted considering Konami fired him. As a fan I will miss him, but I'm glad he went out doing what he wanted to do.

Some mad disrespect for Bloodborne and Rocket League up in this post.

My pick remains to be seen as I haven't played this game yet, but I sure as hell can tell you that it won't be Witcher 3 and it's lame combat.

Is PSN down or something? DNS errors here.

Edit: meh. Issue on my end. I hate how overly reliant the PS4 is on the internet, it just gave me the double beep trying to shut down because it couldn't use the internet properly. Mess.

From Software games never win GOTY here. Bloodborne will round out the top 4 behind MGS5 with Fallout 4, Witcher 3, and the passionate Nintendo vote that is Splatoon.

Rocket League will be top 10.

I thought I did, I got one like a few months ago when I played it at first, and used a guide to get the other 8 recently with the one at the prison camp seemingly already acquired when I got the other 8. I'll try again in a bit specifically to pick up the patches.

I am so dumb, i actually forgot to pick up the one in
the admin building

For those who have played it, I'm curious, what's the button that brings up the commands to order your buddies around and perform actions like knock?

You thought the open world design was boring in fallout?

Got bad news for you. You're about to embark on a much larger landscape with much less in it save for bases.

I thought everything was boring about Fallout. Thankfully we've got some great stealth gameplay here though despite the disappointment of the open world.

I feel like Fallout 4 being so high on the list isn't a guarantee, everything I've seen of it has been less than inspiring and the critical reception to it in previews and whatnot hasn't exactly been mind blowing thus far.

But enough of that, back to nanomachines.

The problem with Fallout 4 is it generally very easy to poke holes in shallow game design.

At least critically, that will cause problems with potential GOTY nominations when voting comes around.

I'm already dead

I'm so ready! This is going to be the first time I get to play a Metal Gear at launch. Recently played MGS3 and GZ, as well as read an outline of what happened in Peace Walker, so I think I'm good to go. I had planned to play MGS 1+2 before launch, but real life got in the way. Oh well, at least I'll have something to do after V.

Pretty excited. Been playing lots of GZs the last few days, just to minimize the learning curve for the controls, and its reallllly good. It's the first time a stleath game has ever clicked for me.

Great OT!

IF you haven't yet I suggest you listen to all the paz tapes found on the title screen in GZ. not only are they informative and very well acted but they also contain some of the absolute best story beats in the entire series. So amazingly well done. I can't wait for the tapes in the phantom pain!

That hasn't stopped Bethsada games before!

also, METAL GEAR

I'd say Fallout, MGSV and Witcher will all stand a chance, but all in their own very different ways.

MGSV will be about that sandbox gameplay.
Witcher will be about the world setting and storytelling.
Fallout will be about that Bethesda-ness that no other open-world games really dig deep into.

Few questions obviously, don't read if you haven't started it yet, though this is all very early game

1)
What is the flashing light above the building when Ocelot teaches you how to use the binoculars? It disappears when you take full control
2) Can you go back and get blueprints that you missed on the map, or do you have to replay the mission
3) What is the purpose of clearing outposts?
4) How do you interrupt the time passing with the cigar?

Pissed about with the cigar too much, went over 3 days thinking it would tell me I'd failed, it didn't so I played the mission only being spotted once with no alarms, found Kaz dead, Time Paradox. Have to do the whole mission again as the checkpoint is still 93 'hours' in, not too bothered though as I was treating it as something of a learning exercise

If this is better suited to the other thread let me know :)

When does the digital version unlock for PSN? I've seen both midnight pacific and midnight Eastern on the PSN store. Not sure which one it is.
