4 missions done, having fun..only B grades, except for the first mission, that I somehow got S.
The frustrating thing is in GZ you could almost run up on guards with your gun drawn and they'd freeze...TPP they often turn around right before they would freeze. Also, hiding behind corners waiting to grab or hold up sometimes going into reflex if things aren't just right.

Is DD pretty much unmissable? I snagged him almost automatically.

walk slowly to avoid them hearing you, if on PC, hold ctrl.

I missed DD. A friend told me where he found DD so I went back and got him. I think it spawns in multiple places so you can miss him and still get him further down.

Welp, wanted to check how old Big Boss is in TPP so I went to the MGS Wiki. No worries, found out what I wanted without managing to spoil anything about TPP. Then wanted to check how old Ocelot is and the opening section contained what I think is a major spoiler for TPP: that
Venom Snake is not Big Boss
.

Game ruined.

Welcome to A Hideo Kojima Game.

If everything was explained, we wouldn't have people learning neat things about MGS games to this day, including things like the fact that in MGS2, you can use the same box trick to get around faster by using the conveyor belts in the shipping room on the Big Shell.

BTW IF YOU THROW EMPTY MAGAZINES AT QUIET, YOUR BUDDY LEVEL GOES DOWN, lol. Learned that the words and deeds way.

I have finished mgs2 countless times and I never knew that.

Playing on Xbox One. Start up the game and the online tries to connect and I get the Terms of Service, which never happened before. My butt is making a fist. I accept, tries to connect one last time, and it says "Failure to connect". Y u do dis Konami?

Yeah, the Wiki is a dangerous place to visit right now for people who haven't finished the game yet. Basically all the character bios have been updated with TPP info, revealing... Well, everything...

Time is pretty much the most important factor for your rank. Not as much as GZ but it's still a big factor. Though ghosting a mission (which is leaving no trace that you were there, not even tranq rounds AFAIK) is an automatic S rank with how much the bonus gives.

As for sneaking up on guards, you still can but you need to walk or else they'll hear you. Grabbing people around corners is such a cluster fuck. I tried to grab someone once and they ended up on the opposite side of the box from me, out of my range and alerted.

The wall hugging is more fidgety than previous games, using actual line of sight rather than "Are you snapped to a wall that isnt facing the enemy Y/N". In the past if your elbow or something was poking out, I dont think it would register to the A.I.

You need the sneaking suit to be able to sneak like you did in GZ, naturally. You can crouch walk at full speed behind enemies and they wont hear you. It also helps with being spotted.

So hands down the worst thing about this game is Quiet's humming. God dammit SHUT UP. SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP.
Why did someone think it'd be a good idea to have her constantly humming all the time when you have her as your buddy?

She needed some kind of downside. :p

Are (I'm heavily assuming these are not spoilers and have jack shit to do with the story nor are that major of gameplay features, but I don't want to risk a ban)
putting your own images on the cardboard box and your own music on the helicopter PC only, or can I also do it on Xbox One? Or is the cardboard box thing just using images the game gives you or texture hack shenanigans or something?

Just have her do Cover Fire. She won't hum, but she'll murder everything in any base. Everything. It's INSANE. I turn around to find everyone dead ass asleep and just

Quiet's rad.

Oh god the horror that is mission 16. Quiet murders everything in the base so no one gets a chance to drive the truck away, so I don't know what the hell to do once shit hits the fan.

Speakers are an upgrade you can develop for the chopper. In the cassette menu it says to press a button to set the highlighted song to the helicopter.

Images come from collecting them in the world and there is a button to change the image when you are highlighting the box in your d-pad inventory.

I knew there would be TPP info in there, but I didn't expect them to spoil a major plot point right in the lead section of Ocelot's article. Still, it's my own damn fault, should have stayed the hell away.

Dat Quiet reveal. Is it the same for everyone?
Had to call in 3 supply drops because I kept running out of tranq ammo. Also had no idea wtf was happening since I was on a side-op mission, was it planned for you to encounter her on that side-op where you have to go to the powerplant?

Was probably the most intense gameplay so far, helped by the unexpected sandstorm that rolled in.

Edit: messed up tags, hope no one refreshed the page before my edit

I need to stop being curious in reading gaf posts. Now I know something big's going to happen with ocelot and it's going to nag at me for the rest of my playthrough

Do you mean the objectives in each mission? You can come back and do them. I think some are even mutually exclusive.

Yeah the objectives. Being so open, and having them marked as ???? I thought i'd missed them.

EDIT: Cool I see now. Prologue even has a couple extra tasks listed now that I've visited Mother Base once.

Loves Robotech S1
i love this game. quiet and i just extracted a freaking tank, its entire crew, and the sniper/mortar team on the hill without alerting anyone... in the middle of an open desert with no cover. what a rush when everything comes together. animal camo seems really good. :p

also, mission 16 spoilers
i used quiet to cheese the hell out of the skulls by alerting them before the truck left the base, losing them in the airport terminal, sneaking back to extract the truck while having quiet slowly wear them down then i just snuck up and finished them off

I got a bunch of new information with even maintenance times to the servers when I entered online, Xbox One here.

EDIT: iDroid is still slow as shit though.

If you listened to soldiers, they talk about her being there.

Quiet cheapo mission tactic
You can call supply drops on her and it does damage.

So is there any down side to stacking Mother Base units into one branch (say support) to get the upgrade you want and then resorting them back to where they originally were after it finishes researching?

So since this game seems to take a lot from Portable Ops/Peace Walker...will I eventually be able to start missions I've already beaten as any lowly scrub of my army? Loved that PO/PW

I was worried about mission 16 since there were so many talks about it, but I got it through surprisingly well. Also did it as A rank on my first attempt with no retries (which is very good for my poor standards)

question about 16.
can you stamina kill and fulton those skulls?

Yep, in fact after you upgrade mother base to the point that it has a combat unit branch you'll be able to do just that!

Using no tools and sneaking isn't the only way to get shit done.

You gotta experiment.

I used a box to stop a truck and when the driver and passenger came to check it out, I slid out, shot one and held up the other in a matter of seconds.

I use quiet to lead eyes away from me.

I call in smoke strikes to CQC and fulton a group of people without even being spotted.

You get all these tools, and they can easily make the game a cakewalk if you learn how to use them.

Sweet. That introduced a role-playing aspect I really like into the MGS series. Can't wait for that to be built, although it'll have to wait until after the base upgrade that produces/refines (whatever) resources.

Im mission 18

I really thought big boss was going to kill those children but you end up saving them. Doesn't big boss turn evil in this game.

So, finished the "main game" and now I'm in the peace-walker post plot more plot stuff. I'm stuck on side-op 144 though.

"Secure the Remains of the man on fire." Like, I figured he was gonna be inside that outpost because that was the only large area within the side-op radius, but I got there, cleaned the whole place and have no idea where to look. I know I'm probably missing something obvious but I'm reeeally lost here.

LMAO. I have yet to find someone who found him in the first go.
He's in the middle of the base, out in the open, right there!
