So while I was replaying a mission for the fultons, I just suddenly fell through the world and then I was suddenly in free roam according to Miller.

Has anyone else had this?

So, finished the "main game" and now I'm in the peace-walker post plot more plot stuff. I'm stuck on side-op 144 though.

"Secure the Remains of the man on fire." Like, I figured he was gonna be inside that outpost because that was the only large area within the side-op radius, but I got there, cleaned the whole place and have no idea where to look. I know I'm probably missing something obvious but I'm reeeally lost here.

I'm not reading your spoiler, so I'll just ask you is there a point of no return with any of the side ops? If so, what is the mission number or side ops number?

man, after mission 28
I was lapping up that more than 2 minute cutscene like a crack addict.

The sniper fight with the 4 ghosts was pretty intense too, they even "killed" quiet but not before she took a huge chunk out of 3 of them while i sipped on a coffee

According to GameFAQs (I know)
Malak
comesback if you redo the mission. Gonna have to just settle this for myself. Maybe I can get the Transport Specialist as well, which would allow me to complete quite a few side-objectives elsewhere.

I'm about 12 hours in and I'm still not sure if I'm enjoying this or not. The actual stealth gameplay is ace, but the world just feels dead and the missions are Ubisoft level busy work.

The tapes are also a horrible way to drive the narrative and have pretty much just acted as a wiki for the backstory.

So yeah, stealth gameplay 9/10 - eveything else ubisofty/10

I'm about this far away from claiming this the best stealth game ever made, but I'm only 5 missions in. Yes, that includes over and above Thief 2, Mark of the Ninja and Chaos Theory.

The tension when sneaking into an enemy base is incredible. I keep catching myself and internally squeeing: crawling through a ditch, jumping between rooftops, the planning, the array of options, how all the systems interplay, the enemy AI sweeping your last known position, grabbing the guard on the mortar as they do....

This is the Metal Gear I've always wanted.

Became GotY when I first saw the (M6)
gunship just hovering unsettlingly over the outpost you have to go through/around

Shame the map gives it away before you hear it.

Though I still feel the game has issues, and can appreciate disappointment from people who love the heavier narrative focus of the previous games, I really think MGSV highlights the joys of longer stretches of gameplay the series can provide that regressed pretty significantly in MGS3 and MGS4. The tension from needing to adapt and push forward without a break every five meters from cutscenes or dialogue is almost overwhelming, in the best possible ways.

Got this game on release, but haven't played much.. I think i'm on chapter 3, and am a bit worried. Can anybody who has got further than me tell me if there are any missions taking place inside big buildings/complexes? Or is it just outside all the time? Spoiler mark the answer if needed..

No point of no return at least not as far as I can tell.

Awesome, I swear me and 3 - 4 other gaffers on here were having problems, in my case I searched the entire circle going out of the base as well just to find him. Took me an hour lol.

I'm actually happy to hear this, I feel way less dumb since I wasn't the only one who did exactly that haha. Just finished that side-op.
Was a really nice touch, but I do kind of feel like there should have been a final battle with Volgin or something. Felt a tad..anti-climactic, I guess? But I still loved the way the man on fire was used. Then again I'm not done with the game yet so maybe they'll do more stuff with him!

Safe to say this game has the GOAT enemy A.i in a stealth game?

I dunno. When they're responsive it's fucking amazing. But I still see a lot of moments of stupidity and weird balance. At night they seem borderline blind.

Thank god that outpost has a MG nest. Full blast until overheat, RUN LIKE HELL, repeat -> Chopper down. Would love to see someone take on the Chopper with the mortar, though :D

Think the game is starting to click with me after not liking it initially. Just did the mission to save
Huey Emmerich
and the sneaking around in the
base
was awesome. Still don't like going trough the open world to get to the fun stuff. I've also been ignoring the mother base stuff. I look at them menus and have no clue whats going on in them. Some point i'm gonna have to figure it out.

Can enemies with better stats see you from further away than those with bad ones?Felt like at a crouch I was being spotted from 65+ yards at ground level by enemies with Bs and Cs, where I wasn't in earlier missions

Also just have to say(general thoughts about a character in the story, no specific incident referred to here but I guess spoilerific by context)
Man, Huey is...I'm just gonna say that Otacon is a way better man than his father ever was.

Early mission in the game, I need to destroy the
communication equipment, there's around 5 of them, I used C4 on them and it did nothing.

Edit my bad. I think they are supposed to be dishes, I was looking at those large crates.

Still unable to see this Med Bay scene. I'm on Mission 15 and Medical Base is 2/4.

I got it straight away. My med platform was developed then I immediately did the wandering soldier mission. I then returned to MB and went up to the 2nd (or is it 3rd) floor and went into the only room you can open then into the, now unlocked, room in question.

The C2W mission?
The comms equipment is in the only enclosed area, it's the black boxes stacked on top of each on a table.

I just got Quiet as a buddy and went on a side ops with her. Why is she so noisy?
She's playing the same few seconds of a song on repeat, only pausing when I send her away to scout and then she continues again. Over and over again.
Not sure if the audio is glitching but it's extremely annoying. If it's not a glitch, any way I can get her to be actually quiet?

She hums when she has a lock on an enemy and is ready to kill/tranq. Not a glitch.

I remember there being an option to tell her to be silent with L1, can't see it now that she can fire at will from an order.

FWIW, some random ramblings............about 12hrs in, maybe 3% completed, it took this long for the game to click.

I haven't played a MGS game since I played MGS1 on the PSX many years ago (unless you count MG Rising....), so effectively I am a new player to the series, and don't have a lot of idea what's going on......

Firstly, the things I like, base gameplay, it's slick,it has a very robust skill set that allows you to not only decide your plan of attack, but also allows you to alter your plan of attack when things change organically on the battlefield, and they do, the AI is very good, for example, I was on the way to a mission start point, got spotted by a bear, decide to leg it away on my horse, then ran right into a patrol who spotted me and put the base I was going to on alert.

Main missions are great, really well thought out, exciting and interesting.

Graphics are perfectly serviceable, not mind blowing, no real wow factor, but slick and smooth, which is what matters.

I like the way the lore and the story is put on tapes, means I can digest the lore and story as and when I want without having to sit through loads of cutscenes.

Absolutely love the 80's music tapes, killer addition, and in fact seeing Joy Division in a video before the game was released actually tipped me over to preorder it.

Now the not so good things....

There was a comparison drawn to Destiny, which was poo-poo'd by many, but the reality is, there are big comparisons to draw, the grind is real, the way you end up attacking the same (or similar) outposts and soldiers for materials, and personnel can be likened to the way Destiny works, I know some will take umbridge at the comparison, but like it or not, that's how it is.

Open world, I guess in the broadest sense of the term, it is, but to me, it doesn't feel like one, it feels more like a set of stages interconnected with some very empty free roam areas, to me it's not open world in the purest sense, not like GTA or FC.

F2P style timers?, who the hell thought this was a good idea?, not only do you have to acquire staff and materials to procure upgrades you also need to wait for a timer?, a timer that only runs in real time while you are playing the game?, its bullshit, adds nothing to the game, and I can't see, apart from padding reasons, why it should have even been considered.

Side ops, generally uninspired filler.

In short, it's a good game, I don't quite get the hyperbole about it being the best game ever, I don't get the slew of 10/10's, maybe it's because I am not as invested in the MGS world as others, maybe more time with the game will turn me, but the overriding thought in my head is....

If this game was the exact same game, but not an MGS game, would it still have gotten the plaudits it has?.

I knew that base inside out as I had been there atleast 3 times before that mission, so there were only a couple of places to look but I always scout for enemies first and the middle area was one of the first places for me to look (don't really use D Dog because I ask Quiet to shoot everyone and put them to sleep)

No, it's to tell you that she is watching and ready.

It's annoying.

DD doesn't even track him lol.

I agree 100%, i'd like the game a lot more if they did away with the "open world" and just started each mission off in the area of the mission.
