"METAL GEAR ONLINE begins in free roam, during which no online battles take place.
Accessing the iDROID during free roam allows you to join online versus matches as well as perform character customization, etc.
You can also access a shooting range to polish your skills between battles."

Huh.

can't wait to build a loadout with

-silenced pistol
-7.62 assault rifle
-.50 cal sniper rifle (or .50 cal belt fed machine gun)

In MGS I always like to try and sneak through levels with the silenced pistol and CQC, but when the mission goes awry, it's time to light shit up with heavy weapons.

After about 15 hours I start to notice the repetitiveness. I've been to the same bases a few times on different missions. The checkpoints in the middle of connection points are getting stale too, they're the same little sheds with some 4 guys. Though its marketed as open world, its not quite. There is a lot of mountain that act as walls you can't traverse, you pretty much have to follow the road but can use shortcuts here and there.

The downside of these open world games, as always, is the lack of a good level design and immersion. Don't expect a cinematic ride like Metal Gear Solid 3.

But this game is really Peace Walker 2, this time not limited by the PSP tech. If you know PW, you know how it works here. Grab the best soldiers and send them to MB, reach a level with them to unlock certain gear. Grind out missions and side ops.

I was there too at 15 hours then it goes Into holy fucking shit mode.

Huh.

Of course they'd try to go open world GTA Online style, ugh. There better be CO-OP missions too, otherwise why?

Just a question for people who have the game. I noticed for some enemy camps there are lights on at night etc. I know you can either turn off the generator or shoot the generator to destroy it, but can you shoot out the lights individually instead at all...If not seems like a missed opportunity. Thanks

Sounds like GTA4 multiplayer. That can only be a good thing.

Unless it pulls a GTAO.

Lashley

so MGO is like GTA online?

YES!! Will be brilliant with friends

I'd like some co-op missions. It might actually be nice to have your standard MGO matches but also be able to take on some difficult missions with friends.

Do you guys think MGO will be a seperate steam entry, like the way call of duty divides it's modes out, or do you think it will be contained in the same package?

I mean I'd prefer a separate one, I imagine the updates will make the game go well over 50 gb+ otherwise.

...I'd also like another +1 ;)

Wow, I played some a few hours straight, not paying attention to the battery level of my DS4.

I was doing so well. Cleared a huge part of the area without alerting anyone. Stealthily choking them or slitting their throats. Just as I was holding someone up and dragging him to a dark corner of the area to interrogate him, my controller died.

No pause, just Big Boss releasing the prisoner, and getting shot by him. Alarming the whole area. This game should just PAUSE if a player's controller gets disconnected.
I wanted to jump out of my window.

This made me laugh. It's surprising that pausing when the controller dies was overlooked.

That actually made me pretty excited for MGO, if I wasn't already. Hopefully there is a gameplay demonstration of all this before it's release.

Just imagining Ocelot ringing you up on your iDroid asking for Sodium Pentothal. :p

I guess it's under the 3d-settings? Can't find it :/

Go to Program Settings under 3D Settings. Make sure the check box for Show Only Programs Found on this Computer isn't marked.

Search through the list for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

Very top option Ambient Occulsion, change it to Quality to enable it.

Manage 3D settings > Program Settings tab > Uncheck "Show games on this computer only" > Find MGSV > Switch "Ambient Occlusion" setting to ON

I have the german version installed, there's no option for AO. I guess I have the right one, though my only there are "Quality" or "Performance"

guess that answers it!

thank you both!

What the heck, ugh??

I was worried enough about it as is without learning that they added something that I don't think anyone would have been sad to hear wasn't in the game.

MGS and GTA are different games. Unless they put a ton of effort into Open World activities I can't see it being worth it.

Was disarm in Ground Zeroes?

Yeah it was in there. You have to tap R2 (and not press the stick in any direction) followed by pressing L2.

MGO is just like the last two games, team vs team objectives on closed maps. Not sure where people are getting this info saying open world.

Yeah I'm pretty sure it's just saying that, to select the multiplayer option, you have to be in free roam and not currently in a mission. It's not saying that you CAN play free-roam multiplayer.

Fuck I hate janky checkpoint based progression. I has no time. I prefer witcher 3 style of save whenever. Oh well, is what is.

I agree. Even more in games with so freedom and options like this one, if I see a possibility of doing X, I want to be able to save the game in that spot and go for it, I want to experiment. Sparse checkpoints going against that experimentation.

No it's the opposite, I think open-world multiplayer sounds fantastic

Of course, being on PC, it's gonna be a looong while till I'll be able to play MGO

If it was going to be anything like GTAO, I feel like Konami would be pushing it harder than what has already been shown of MGO.

Could be though, those Shark Cards worked quite well for Rockstar.
