Not sure if this is intro.

We have a winnerProbably because they hired the Halo lead character artist a few years ago. And before that 343 hired some people from Retro for Halo 4.
Bro you said it yourself. If you think that a game looks good based off of its polygonal count, texture resolution, or special effects, I don't know what to tell you. To me, the most important part of a game's visuals is the overall art direction. That's why games like Chrono Trigger, Wind Waker, Cuphead, Shadow of the Colossus, Yoshi's Island, Bloodborne, Journey, Okami, etc. are still all gorgeous to this day.2025, I'm trying to grasp at what looks good here? Basic geometry, textures, effects, etc..
It is. They're basically going the Prime 3 bombastic intro route where you have all your stuff from the get-go.Samus already has morph ball ability and bomb.
Not sure if this is intro.
I get the art argument for all the games you mentioned. This game doesn't fit that.Bro you said it yourself. No one is arguing that Prime 4 is technologically advanced, or pushing the latest in visual tech. But it has excellent visual design and style so far, and if Prime Remastered is any indication, there will be great set pieces and style throughout the whole game.
That'd be fine for something 'new', but it would be very disappointing for a Metroid Prime game imo. I want visors, scanning, and the works. This game I think should've been in 3rd person, taking some inspiration from Returnal in gameplay.
Nintendo has played too safe.
They litterally did the same for Tears of the Kingdom, before realizing people were thinking that if they don't show anything that means the game has nothing to show for, so they tried to put more stuff last secondThis is quite possibly the most secretive Nintendo has ever been about a major title, long in development, this close to apparent release.
It's a Switch 1 game at its core2025, I'm trying to grasp at what looks good here? Basic geometry, textures, effects, etc..
Either people complain about "its too safe" or if it's too different "it's not my Metroid".This game I think should've been in 3rd person, taking some inspiration from Returnal in gameplay.

Halo? Is that you? Is it possible to copy Halo even more? cmon now

This is the first reaction I get by watching it.Either people complain about "its too safe" or if it's too different "it's not my Metroid".
Literally people in GAF saying Silent Hill f is not real Silent Hill just because it has Japanese setting.
Well, to be fair, the space pirate designs before Halo's existence weren't very similar to the ones we have now.I mean. Space pirates were a thing before halo even existed
I guess, but I think it's fine as long as the combat is serviceable. The different beams/powers should be used/designed mainly for exploration and puzzle solving rather than combat anyway, imo.It needs to have all the scanning, exploration etc. Just the gunplay needs to be more inspired.
Samus already has morph ball ability and bomb.

I played it on the gamescom, the demo ends with a small event i think is stripping her of her powers.Doesn't she usually lose her powers at the beginning of the game? (At least this happened in Metroid Prime 1 & 2 for what I can remember)
It's 2025 and people still complain about the gunplay in Metroid Prime ?Just the gunplay needs to be more inspired.
Hopefully at least it has added mechanics like dash, evade etc.I guess, but I think it's fine as long as the combat is serviceable. The different beams/powers should be used/designed mainly for exploration and puzzle solving rather than combat anyway, imo.
Nobody is asking for Doom Eternal gameplay here. But something more precise and satisfying like Returnal wouldn't be amiss here. It's 2025 and people still complain about the gunplay in Metroid Prime ?
"Shooting" is just a mean on Metroid, it is absolutely not the core of the experience. So it needs to stay simple and effective, because you have a lot of other things you have to do.
For example Doom Eternal gunplay has no place in Metroid. Micro managing health and ammo with too many buttons for the controller just sucks.
Nobody ever complained about the gunplay in 2D Metroid games.
I'm personally mostly curious about what the psychic stuff will/can bring to the table. That seems to be the big new thing for this one. What they've shown so far hasn't been very impressive though.Even the most safe looking titles (eg Gears 5, Uncharted 4 etc) have enough under the hood so that they feel like generational leaps.
Hopefully it has solid atmosphere, lore, feeling of mystery etc.I'm personally mostly curious about what the psychic stuff will/can bring to the table. That seems to be the big new thing for this one. What they've shown so far hasn't been very impressive though.
You have never played a Metroid game?Samus already has morph ball ability and bomb.

the art, and it's metroid, any new metroid is better than nothing2025, I'm trying to grasp at what looks good here? Basic geometry, textures, effects, etc..

Who knows.. You could ask that about most Switch (1) games right now I feel. They've given us free updates for ~11 out of >70 (?) first party titles.Sorry for being off topic boys but : Why no Metroid Dread S2 update yet ? I mean, it's a 1st party game ffs...
Yeah, no thanks. There's enough games that are good from moment one that I dont need to suffer through the shit beginning to get to the good part.
His first game was probably Call of Duty.![]()
Do you not recall Metroid Prime 1's intro?
Not to mention you're instantly playing and it instantly rules. It's not a 90 minute walk & talk & cutscene fest.![]()
Do you not recall Metroid Prime 1's intro?
You have never played a Metroid game?
How did I play Metroid Dread then?vaibhavpisal is showing much 'concern' for a game thread of a console he obviously doesn't own....
You don't need a SW2 for Dread and to the rest of what you said says.... Says no Metroid fan!How did I play Metroid Dread then?
Anyways, am day 1 on Prime 4. But am not getting blown away by what is shown. Day 1 simply cause its Metroid.
When you read something like Metroid is copying Halo you know that this thread is full of them.vaibhavpisal is showing much 'concern' for a game thread of a console he obviously doesn't own....
There is only one game poster in my room, its Metroid. You don't need a SW2 for Dread and to the rest of what you said says.... Says no Metroid fan!
Halo is dead, long live Metroid
Possibly controversial, but I never saw what made Halo special like others did back in the day, outside of maybe multiplayer. Single player wise it did nothing that shooters hadn't already done before, and better, many years prior.
Prime however. That was a special game. 2&3 weren't as great, but still very good.
No single player shooter on console controlled like Halo did before Halo. Halo was the first major game that proved how well FPS games could work on console.
Goldeneye and TimeSplitters played great to me. There's also everything else that makes a great campaign experience. I found many games before Halo offering what Halo didn't years later.
That being said. Personal preference also plays a massive part.
