To a point you might be right. Not that Retro would be shut down or anything but maybe this is it for Prime if it doesn't sell well.
There is probably an interview out there that would contradict me but I always thought Other M was Nintendo's reaction to Prime's sales. Unfortunately or fortunately so it sold less than any of the main Prime titles so here we are again for another go.
If this doesn't hit the way that they want you can bet Samus's next 3D outing will be in the 3rd person. There could be a world where 2D Metroid exists, FPA Metroid exists and 3rd Person Metroid exists. I seriously doubt the likelihood of that world though. Or at the very least we do get all 3 but 1st person Metroid is a little more rare with its releases.
I personally can't wait for Other M's 3rd person style to get it's redemption. Hopefully it aint a 3D Donkey Kong kind of wait.

Yeah, i agree. I think they should look at possibly remastering Other M and give it to a different team for some fresh eyes.
I still think it would be smart for Retro to explore a new IP or a forgotten IP. Let them do a Golden Sun or Star Fox for example.
I would also have them remaster smaller titles. Like they did with Metroid Prime 1. Luigi Mansion 1, or as i keep saying. Wave race or 1080 snowboarding. Something that has a western slant to it. Fzero or pilot wings. Something they don't expect to sell crazy, but sell "well enough".

The game was entirely scrapped and rebooted from scratch with a different developer and has been in development at a US-based studio since late 2018 (about seven years by the time it releases) and is years behind schedule, and people here are questioning a $100 million dev cost? I'd be stunned if it only cost $100 million at this point, I suspect it's actually much higher.
No I don't think this was the original budget Nintendo had planned, but it's where it ended up after release slips and cost overruns.

Are the calls for marketing just reflexive? If you're going to spend on marketing, viral shilling is the way to go. Get content creators of every medium, make the association as murky as legally possible and profit. Beats the hell out of ign backgrounds. Traditional pro-sports commercials didn't do much for Concord. A supportive "community" might have done better. If the game is decent it will blend right in and just serve as a nice booster.

Exactly. There, imho, needs to be arching vistas in that scene. Something otherworldly. Strange structures and fauna. It looks basic, almost generic. Seems like alpha gameplay even?
I'm not calling for sandworms or anything like that. Maybe Monolith (Xenoblade series) should have handled that part/those sequences?, smh. They have the experience for open-world area(s). I think also, the bike should be a trike not a dualie. Maybe with storage to pack away stuff that's found; real detailed in this regard. Whereas interaction with the vehicle increases immersion. Upgrades; it can "transform" into other things to help the player, etc. OR cut the bike parts entirely and save those for Mario Kart levels or something
This sequence in the sneak peek looks good though, in FPS view gameplay. I think it'll be solid in that sense
