Metroid: Samus Returns (Mercury Steam, Metroid 2 reimagining, 9/15) announced for 3DS

the counter move looks incredibly easy to execute and overpowered. Sort of trivializes every enemy encounter just like the sense move in Other M.
Everything I've seen seems rather underwhelming at the moment.

Game looks so good. I love that they are utilizing the 3D aspect as well. I am going to miss 3D in games when they no longer create for the system.

Shame this didn't come out two years ago, this thread woulda been pure joy, less Switch sadness. Good game then is still good game now! Really lookin forward to playing this with the 3D maxed out, woulda been a real shame to have gone through the whole 3DS lifespan and never gotten a 2D Metroid usin stereo 3D, gonna look great. Prefer it on 3DS cause of that really.

Yeah, I mean I admit here this is a better late than never situation since a 2.5D Metroid actually might be is pretty high on my megaton scale.

They're giving Samus upgrades like crazy.

Morph Ball?
Bombs?
Spider Ball?
Spring Jump?

All in like 15 minutes.

Yeah, I always thought it was a weird open to this game, but I guess it's a compromise between people who know the formula and people who were new to the series. But yeah, just like the original.

Looking at the Treehouse stream it looks amazing

They made the Castlevania Lords of Shadows games

1. Lords of Shadow wasn't a remake
2. The issues Lords of Shadow were certainly non-technical

So, taking these points into account. How will Mercury Steam cause huge problems in remaking a gameboy Metroid?

anybody saying "wow this is going to be terrible because mercury steam" while they've been showing twenty minutes of good ass gameplay are garbage shitposters

It's straight up copy and paste opinioning.

Shit, just occurred to me that I hope this runs well on the Non-New 3DSes or that there isn't some functionality that makes the New 3DS version seem essential over the Non-New one. I've gotten this far without having to buy a New 3DS, don't screw me at the last second Nintendo!

I never heard of Mercury Steam, but this looks great! Glad we're getting some Metroid in the near future to make the wait for Prime 4 easier!

Timing on the parry looks a little too lenient, and the fact that she hasn't moved and fired her weapon at the same time are a little alarming, but it honestly looks great! Two Metroids in one day, be still my beating heart....

Looks absolutely fantastic, and has continued to look as such the whole time I've watched it on stream

Crying peebabies who think a 3DS game can be ported to Switch and look decent should go away

Will buy and enjoy because a good game is a good game

The dumbest thing is people complaining about Other M vibes from things that weren't bad things about Other M. Samus being more agile is a good thing that should be carried over to other games.

Today is mindblowing

13 fucking years since the last 2D Metroid and there's a new one and it looks GOOD

And a Prime 4 announcement with nearly 10 years since Prime 3

I'm loving the melee move and the overall feel of the combat, coming from the stream. I was the most cautious when the name MercurySteam was mentioned, but it looks surprisingly good.

I'll be completely honest here, as much as I love a new 2D metroid... this looks hideous to me, it might be a good game at the end but fuck it looks ugly to me.

After a decade of suffering, its a good day to be a Metroid fan.
