Did Phil just admit they tried to buy AB in 2020? Am I reading that rightadamsapple ? I thought this all started in November 2021???
Yeah - I jumped the gun on that. I admit it. These lives are just so fun.No... it's about revenue splits for games on the store.
Edit - maybe just exclusive or altogether.
Medium sized by their intentional "logic" yesterday.I'm surprised he didn't say ABK is a small triple A publisher
Fixed it for youI'm surprised he didn't say ABK is a small indie triple A publisher
Activision threatened to skip Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X.
He lives in his own little Twitter bubble, collecting his MicroSwag, blocking descent and criticism, essentially creating a aura of narcissism around himself.
Probably cries in the shower.

Yup. My bad.Always look both ways before tagging someone, please![]()
Told you they reek of political style and PR.Xbox Game Pass state of the union sent to Nadella
This is cringe as shit![]()
He spent to much time on Xbox reddit. He's bullshitting about needing to buy publishers because Sony pays for timed exclusivity, apparently they don't do it
Starfield was going to be playstation exclusive
![]()
Pete Hines spilled the beans yesterday that they were trying on multiple games.Phil YOU could have negotiated a deal for Starfield. You DID NOT have to buy Zenimax to get a deal for Starfield, you dunce!
Yep. And said MS was in on negotiations as well with them.Phil Spencer blaming Sony for Bethesda PS5 exclusives, but it was established yesterday that Bethesda was the one shopping their games for exclusivity.
That MS was also negotiating for. Why stop there?Starfield PS5 exclusive rumor true
To be honest, that was a pretty good answer.FTC says AB titles, Phil Spencer says its simplistic to reduce it to one game and starts blaming Sony for Final Fantasy XVI
He's complaining about Sony buying exclusive content like Deathloop and Ghostwire...
And he thinks the right call is to just buy publishers AND engage in the same strategy you are complaining about?
it's not about "Securing content" and keeping it on Xbox (while also allowing it on Playstation). It's about engaging in the SAME, if NOT WORSE, tactics than Sony by taking massive games off rival platforms.
This guy is such a snake oil salesman
Phil Spencer blaming Sony for Bethesda PS5 exclusives, but it was established yesterday that Bethesda was the one shopping their games for exclusivity.
I mean, it's Phil Spencer. He will of course present it the best way possible for him.oh damn, so this confirms that starfield was supposed to be PS exclusive or at least timed
To be honest, that was a pretty good answer.
He’s speaking slowly and clearly and is trying his best to steer conversation away from CoD. Note the repetition of ‘market leader’ instead of Sony.
coming from the one who bought zenimax and made future bethesda titles exclusive it's a bit funny
To be honest, that was a pretty good answer.

What have you been smoking?
Xbox isn't being vilified for making Starfield exclusive. They are being vilified for saying to regulators that they had no incentive to take Bethesda games away from Playstation in order to get approval and then doing the opposite of what they said.
Sony is not doing the same with studios they own because they have never made such promises and Bungie is still multiplatform and is going to release Marathon on Xbox.
Are you really comparing Bungie to Activision/King?!?
For fuck sake, drop the Xbox discord guidelines.
Comparing a 2bn company with a 67bn company??
If MS wasn't blocked from buying Zenimax for 7.5bn with lots of IPs why would Bungie be blocked for 2bn with a single IP? (2bn + 1bn for talent retention)
Sony became market leader BY CONSUMER CHOICE , there is nothing any regulator can do about that because there is nothing wrong or illegal with it.
Of course. He's trying to PR his way out of actually answering the questions.
I'd believe Petey over the host of Location Location LocationOf course, it contradicts Peter Hines and omits their own practices but it's the right answer. The only answer he could/should give.
In which they were involved with as well since Bethesda was shopping them out.Wow. Imagine badically admitting you bought Bethesda because Sony was in talks for a likely timed exclusive starfield.
Fucking hell.
Anyone else listening to this and feeling like we’re witnessing the turning point where Sarah Bond ascends to the top spot? Don’t know what she’d do for the Xbox brand but she was a lot more composed and succinct yesterday than Spencer is.
Spencer is being too vague and open, leaving him exposed for future lines of questioning. It’s almost like he’s having a hard time keeping everything straight, too many PR talking points in his head at once.
