How these guys know when the decision will come?

No one knows. Even Idas quoted this and then admitted that not only does he have no clue how this person knows but also said this person has been wrong in the past when it comes to this merger.

Articles are written when there's a need for content not when new information appears that's just a bonus.

Volume alert. Decision made?

Looks like the injunction has been denied based on the direction.

It's just the beginning. Even Sony freed up 5Bn for PlayStation to make acquisitions. I'm sure they will make that money count.

There's a lot more to what Sony is doing. The $5 billion you're likely referring to was just the remaining budget from their $18 billion 3-year plan. Which was set to end this coming March. Things have changed. Sony is now looking into spinning off their financial arm over the next couple years. It's speculated that could give them between 8 to 10 billion dollars more.

This slims their market diversity down. Their intention is to focus more on entertainment and image sensor investments. Also, not operating a bank means they don't have to worry about banking regulations. They currently have billions, possibly tens of billions, tied up in banking reserves that they're required to have. Future cash flow won't be tied up in that.

This is on top of the current $14.4 billion in cash they have. Which could continue to go up, as it has since last September. Of course, this doesn't get into stock swaps to reduce paying in full cash or simply getting loans to help finance a large investment.

Removing their banking division really cannot be overstated for how much that would change things. That will leave SIE as the largest revenue generator for the company by a large margin. With video games as the largest growth vector for the company and fueling their entertainment arm overall. Sony has stated they're very aware of the industry consolidation and they won't sit idle. Expect them to make big moves within the next few years. Regardless of how the ABK deal shakes out.

In Cold Blood In Cold Blood Did I say something wrong here? Or do you just not like the idea that Sony probably isn't sitting still?

Breaking: Microsoft wins US court case to buy Activision Blizzard in loss for FTC. Story incoming.

A California judge is allowing Microsoft to close its acquisition of Activision Blizzard after five days of grueling testimony. Microsoft still faces an ongoing antitrust case by the Federal Trade Commission, but Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley has listened to arguments from both the FTC and Microsoft and decided to deny the regulator's request for a preliminary injunction.
This allows Microsoft to close its Activision Blizzard deal ahead of the July 18th deadline, but only if the company is willing to close around the UK or if the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is willing to negotiate some form of remedy. The UK regulator moved to block Microsoft's proposed acquisition in April, and Microsoft is currently appealing that decision with a hearing set to start on July 28th.

MLex reported last month that Microsoft was exploring options to close the deal despite the UK block, which, in part, spooked the FTC enough to request an injunction in the first place. The CMA also filed to try and delay Microsoft's appeal of its Activision Blizzard acquisition decision, with a request right in the middle of the FTC v. Microsoft hearing. The Competition Appeal Tribunal (CAT) shut that request down, as it would have pushed the appeal process from July to October — "contrary to justice and fairness."

European regulators gave the deal the go-ahead in May, so Microsoft could now technically close without the UK and without an injunction in the US preventing it. That's a complicated scenario though, so we'll likely see Microsoft and Activision Blizzard temporarily extend their merger agreement to cover the CMA appeal process instead.
The FTC will now have the chance to appeal Judge Corley's decision, but the regulator didn't appeal a court's decision permitting Meta to acquire Within, so it may abandon its case against Microsoft and Activision Blizzard instead.

that was an exceptionally fast decision and just in the nick of time for Microsoft… that's not suspicious at all

I wonder how long will it take for the FTC to appeal?

I'm very happy with this decision.

A great day for Backwards Compatibility and Forwards Compatibility. With MS heavily invested in the console space and with good competition in that space, we all win in some ways.
