Fake PCMR's are the worst. Obsessed with dunking on consoles, hate boner for anything related to Sony.

But meanwhile has trash-tier PC hardware and a Series S. Make it make sense.

At least VFXveteran, for all his misgivings, had the hardware to back up his elitist attitude.

They better fucking resurrect that BC program for another go.

I won't settle until I get my Singularity BC.

Both of these games had better show up on the BC list before the end of business on Friday. With full X enhancement and FPS Boost.

There is literally nothing left to acquire. Microsoft owns id Software, which created the Wolfenstein property. They own Activision, which published both games. They own Gray Matter Studios, which developed RTCW, and they own Raven Software, which developed Wolfenstein 2009.

Hallelujah

End of the day it's a win win. Sony keeps COD for 10 years and MS gets something out of it (they get a cut of COD sales). Both companies make money.

And for anyone frightened that a 10 year deal which will go to 2033 is the apocalypse, that's such a long time from now. It's so long ago that 10 years ago PS4 and Xbox One werent even out yet in July 2013. We were all still playing 360 and PS3. So you can take a breath. COD will still be on PS systems for another decade. It'll be on PS5 and PS6. Ok, maybe for PS7 it'll be cut off (and that assumes there isnt an extension).

100K + people are playing Black Ops right now. Lots of them probably via BC, whoever said BC is a useless feature needs to stand in the corner.

The FASA Studio that made the FPS Shadowrun? Ya, I'd have shut them down as well.

It's weird that Weisman's Harebrained Schemes didn't get picked up by MS during their buying blitz where they acquired inXile and Obsidian. Maybe there's some bad blood between Weisman and MS, but who knows?
Shadowrun was insanely ahead of its time.

So when are they dumping all Activision games in game pass?

Let the deal close, I don't think they will dump all of them as there's way too many. But I expect drops in the bi-weekly game pass lists, probably gonna keep them occupied for a while if they add 2, 3 Activision games with the usuals and other deals they make.

What PC gamer in their right mind keeps an internal mechanical hard drive around just for testing out former PS5 exclusives (or timed exclusives) on PC? The whole point of PC gaming is to play things at the best quality possible dependant on your hardware, not sit there being insecure and paranoid about console specs.
Real talk

It's not done yet? I keep reading it's done. When will it be? This feels like it never ends.

Lots of theories that it is ending tomorrow. Others suggesting it be sometime after. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised either way.

If Sony doesn't do anything for 10 years and just acts like everything is fine and then in 2033 suddenly panics they are already dead.

I suspect Sony won't do nothing, though. They have literally a 10 year runway to figure their shit out. Despite the bleatings of fucking idiots, there isn't any replacement for CoD they or anyone else can pull out of their asses. Even Battlefield and Halo are both dead. There isn't any CoD "competitor" coming soon or ever. So Sony has to think of what they can seize control of to counter a scenario where MS tries to take CoD Xbox exclusive in 2033. Trying to resurrect Killzone, MAG, Resistance, or SOCOM is not the answer and only retards think it is.

As I've said before, the only way to counter losing CoD is gain control of an important publisher or franchise which can be withheld from Xbox if MS goes nuclear in 2033 and forecloses on CoD. There are different ways to go about this. They can try to get EA and seize control of Madden and The Franchise Formerly Known As FIFA. They can try to get T2 and Rockstar and seize control of GTA. If they can't afford to do this on their own, they need to figure out who will acquire them and then do this to protect their new acquisition. The only solution Sony has is Mutually Assured Destruction. They will not survive after 2033 by doing the same shit and pretending they won't lose in CoD in 2033, because there is a 167% chance that they will.

The alternative is to simply plan the sunset of Playstation by 2033. Sony is an enormous media conglomerate. Only 30% of Sony's revenue is from PS, although that represents the lion's share of their profits. If they deleted the whole PS division tomorrow, they would take a huge hit but they wouldn't suddenly go bankrupt. Sony Pictures Entertainment, Sony Music Entertainment, Aniplex, etc. will still exist and still be profitable in the absence of PS. So the other option is to simply prepare for the shutdown of Sony Interactive Entertainment in 2033.

All the pieces are in place, just needs some kind of go ahead from the CMA and an official press release from MS about it closing and the obligatory "welcome to the family" blog post and then we're gold.

Wasn't there supposed to be an actual court case between FTC and Microsoft after the injunction or does losing the injunction and appeals kill that?

Err that is really something you have come up with.

After the acquisition has already completed, FTC would need to prove that the merger is so anti-competitive that the companies should be broken up. This is such a high bar that typically the FTC never pursues any court case if the merger has already completed.

The last time FTC directly pursued a court case against a company for anti-competitive activities instead of pre-acquisition was...

Against Microsoft. The legendary antitrust action over bundling Internet Explorer with Windows to crush Netscape. Which the US Government famously won and it almost resulted in MS being broken up like OG AT&T and Standard Oil back in 1999.

Today it's easy to have 20/20 hindsight and say that MS should indeed have been broken up then. The US Government fucked up really badly by letting MS remain a single company. Today it's the world's 2nd largest corporation by market cap and can just buy entire industries to crush competitors.

So assuming MS does cut the cord on COD completely from PS in 2033, the thing for Sony to do is shut down their game division which is their most important division of all?

Wow. I guess that's one strategy to do in 2033.

Wasn't there supposed to be an actual court case between FTC and Microsoft after the injunction or does losing the injunction and appeals kill that?

No, that is still going to happen but FTC cannot prevent MS from closing. They lost the case for the injunction.

I said that's one alternative and of course it's the worst case scenario.

Sony has lots of options before then, up to and including being acquired by a much bigger company than themselves.

Sony's movie/TV and music divisions have a massive media catalog, someone would want them just for that if nothing else. Any one of Apple, Google, Amazon, Tencent, etc. would all want to have Sony/Columbia/Tri-Star's film and TV catalog, Sony Music/BMG's music catalog, Aniplex's published catalog, part ownership in Kadokawa, and so on and so forth. People don't really know how much media back catalog Sony owns, especially in music. They are a very desirable acquisition target if it comes to that.

They still can pursue their in house court case, but they don't have enough time to finish it. Even with the CMA August 29th deadline. So it's pointless. They failed twice to get their injunction anyway. Time for them to look elsewhere.
