It's definitely a reflection of the market share. And you mention FF16 and Starfield but what % percentage of people do you think had PC in mind when Starfield was mentioned. And with FF16 you have to play on PS5.
The reality is that Xbox just has a severely diminished presence here. At least. But like I said it's probably a reflection of the market share.

I just think it's impressive alone that more people on a gaming FORUM have a CONSOLE than a PC. More people have a CONSOLE. On a gaming FORUM than a COMPUTER.
And it was multiple choice. So how many of those 46% also had a PC too.
And yeah that poll does show that quite a bit more people have Xbox than I expected. But then you look at "What platform are you playing this game on?" And usually it's overwhelming in PlayStation's favour.
So it's obvious that people have decided that in general that's the place to play your games. Despite owning Xbox/PC/PS5 they prefer the PS5.

It’s possible Gaf is more Sony-centric than Era but I don’t think a poll here with no equivalent poll in the other side is enough to decide that. But what they do on Era is to ban warriors and thank god for that.

All platform holders need to be barred from acquiring publishers and removing competition from the space. Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, Google, Apple, Valve, Epic, Amazon...it needs to be agreed that if you are a platform holder you don't get to buy out the entire industry. Let gamers decided what games they want to play and what platforms they want to play them on using their wallet, rather than platform holders making those decisions for everyone.

If cloud is so insignificant and inconsequential to the deal then why don't MS simply tell the CMA that they will give up cloud gaming and get the deal done then.
I would be fine with that if that included money hats to those publishers. Or else you leave a loop hole for the dominant market leader to content starve competition out of the market.

Just a little over a decade ago XB and PS where on "equal" ("equal" cause Sony was on the verge of bankruptcy while Microsoft still had all the money in the world) footing on the console market after 360/PS3 ended neck on neck. And yet here we are Playstation and Nintendo are flourishing while XB is rotting, perhaps they should spend all that cash in better management and strategies instead of trying to buy the entire industry like spoiled rich children.

You talk as if Sony paid for COD exclusivity. Guess what, GTA was exclusive, then it became massive and no longer made sense for the third party that owns the IP to be exclusive.
Just whiny senseless arguments this whole third party exclusivity thing. Everyone does it. Only one started buying the biggest publishers and IP in the world.
The only thing you’re upset is that the market doesn’t feel the way you do about Xbox. That’s basically it.

Cloud gaming is so impactful of a market that it can't even be used in Australia properly. Clearly a Microsoft dominated market when 0% of a playerbase region specific literally can not use the product.
Also there is no appropriate way of managing the likes of Microsoft, Sony or Nintendo without stiffling competition and swinging the pendulum to an extreme. You either cap market share which in turn reduces the likelihood of investment in tech growth, cap acquisitions or money hats which in turn reduces playerbase interest because many want a reason to play their console choice, or you leave it to be a free for all with the relative mindset that at a certain point the business is too big to operate without prejudice. The gaming sector isn't like others, it's rather unique to talent utilisation but also fickle userbase that can shift on a dime.
