Microsoft Games Showcase Event Today (11am ET / 8am PT / 4pm UK)

I doubt it. Sony had marketing rights for the two previous games plus Ubi partnered with Sony Pictures to make a Watch Dogs movie.

What I do expect from Xbox's event is gameplay of both Assassin's Creed: Valhalla and Rainbow Six: Quarantine, maybe even a brand new game as well.

Microsoft press conferences:

E3 2013 - Battlefield 4 & Titanfall (Electonic Arts)
E3 2014
- Assassin's Creed: Unity & The Division (Ubisoft)
E3 2015
- Rainbow Six: Siege & The Division (Ubisoft)
E3 2017
- Dragon Ball: FighterZ & Code Vein (Bandai Namco)
E3 2018
- Nier Automata, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Captain Spirit & Kingdom Hearts III (Square Enix)
E3 2019
- Dragon Ball: Kakarot & Elden Ring (Bandai Namco)

Sony press conferences:

E3 2013 - Final Fantasy XV & Kingdom Hearts III (Square Enix); Batman: Arkham Origins & Mad Max (Warner Bros.); Watch Dogs & Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag (Ubisoft)
E3 2014
- Mortal Kombat X & Batman: Arkham Knight (Warner Bros.)
E3 2015
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 & Destiny: The Taken King (Activision); Hitman, World of Final Fantasy & Final Fantasy 7: Remake (Square Enix)
E3 2016
- Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Modern Warfare: Remastered, Skylanders: Imaginators & Crash Bandicoot (Activision); LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens & Batman: Arkham VR (Warner Bros.)
E3 2017
- Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite & Monster Hunter: World (Capcom); Call of Duty: WWII & Destiny 2 (Activision)

Okay thanks. I'm glad this is the case because I really want to see Quarantine and Legion.

Edit: Oh god. When will publishers announce their own events? Cause like this Xbox event could literally contain anything. This is a little more hype than usual if you ask me. So much is unknown. This situation may force some publishers hands to do some of their biggest reveals at one of the platform holders events.

There is a reason why they only show Third Party games. Just look how they revealed the specs with DF:

This was right before Sony revealed the PS5 and how their CPU and GPU clocks are variable.

There was a reason why MS stressed that there are no variable clocks and that everything is sustained at all the time.

There is also a reason why they focus now on Third Party Gameplay. Maybe, they want to show how third party games look like on their xbox series X and then, if Sony shows their third party games, people can directly compare, like they could compare XSX TFLOPs vs PS5 TFLOPs.
They can do all that and still tease people with their first party games.

I'm very curious to see how many of the games are exclusive and also how many of them are next gen only. I'm expecting quite a few to be cross gen.

Im not really looking forward to many third party games. But a new Splinter Cell announcement would be great. We went this whole gen without a new one.

I feel like this would be a missed opportunity to just focus on third party games. Its the first event going in depth for next gen gameplay, all we've got up until now is some teasers, so everyone is gonna be watching, not just Xbox fans.

Show some Xbox exclusives while you got all eyes on you, even if its just a 1 min trailer for Halo Infinite gameplay that ends with, continue on June 14th or whenever the next event is.

From Phil's last interview it looks like their 1st party are delayed because of coronavirus. Could explain the rumours of a 1st party July blowout rather than June.

This is what most seemed to miss. Things could get interesting soon.

They're probably all cross gen unless they're exclusive. There's no install base so a 3rd party would be crazy to release a next gen only AAA. Not even sure if it's happened before. If it's an exclusive then at least they're recouping their money directly from the platform holder (e.g. Ryse)

That's my expectation too. I think we could get some next gen only games but they won't be given a release date as they'll be 2022 or later.

What kind of timed exclusivity? DLC? and if it's the game itself, I highly doubt that. But I like to be proven wrong so can you post rumor source?

Rumor is about a year old so I could not find much about it but a simple google search did give me the below link. I hope this is not true because I really dislike this kind of thing.

AC-Odyssey looks bland to me and so does GR-Breakpoint for that matter, so it'll take quite a bit to impress me with Valhalla running on Series X.

Far Cry 5 looked gorgeous because it used Dunia Engine. If Valhalla is going to be running on AnvilNext, then it's not going to be that impressive, even on next-gen tech.

Of course I'd love to be proven wrong.

What are your expectations?

Mine are set low, in caution. I think these next-gen transitions tend to be very iterative at first, especially in third party games.

Essentially, I expect something akin to today's games, but with all settings maxed out, and maybe light experimenting with next-gen features like raytracing, or a few things that look a bit beyond current gen. It will be wonderful in its own way, but not the wow moment people are looking for.

The first party event? That's a different matter. I think those teams will have every incentive, and a console manufacturer's complete backing, to create visual killer apps for the new hardware.

I, of course, hope to be blown away anyway, but I'm trying to manage my expectations.

Not joining the train as i only stick to the one will more first party carriages (sony), but interested to see what microsoft have cooked up. I want to see a genertional leap in visuals, but highly doubt i will.

He didn't say that though. If i recall he mentioned there are some challenges, but things are still on track. i think they always planned to have two showings. The july one lines up with E3

I think Rainbow six loyalists are gonna get turned off with the next game. This new one has aliens, not sure what there trying to do here. Aren't the games pretty successful this gen? It's curious they are moving away from the formula they used forever. Could still be a great game but who knows if it's gonna be a good Rainbow game.

The first-party/second-party showcase is where it's at. I think the third-party efforts will look great though, good times ahead.

What? You know the next game is based on an in-game Siege event called Outbreak that was well received right? The only issue was that it was repetitive because it couldn't be fully realized since it was a limited time event.

I'm trying to keep hype in check too. There will be games that will just look just nicer, and I predict Assassin's Creed to look like that. Pretty much all screenshots seen so far don't look impressive at all and they're shown as current-gen hardware.

Though I do believe there will be a title or 2 that will look simply incredible. Hoping I'm wrong about AC, because Viking setting would really interest me. Will buy it anyway, but Far Cry 5 is the best looking game they've made imo.

The thing I'm most interested in is finally seeing some of the new first party Xbox stuff.

I want to see where the new Halo is at. If Playground are actually going all out on a new Fable. If The Initiative are ready to reveal anything. I want another look at Hellblade 2. I want to know if Obsidian really are building something on the scale of Skyrim. I'm hyped to see if these studios can step up & do these big things. Not to mention the smaller stuff that Matt Booty hinted at.

It hasn't been this exciting to look forward to Xbox stuff since the 360 was on it's game.

Oh ok. Wasn't aware this was part of the siege story. Haven't played them but I know they never had aliens in the games before. I seen the trailer and it looks so unorthodox from previous games.

Significantly better textures, framerate and resolution and graphics that look real. I think the biggest change will be the lack of load times and games being immediate.

This is a Microsoft event not a Sony event, you will get your wish for next gen better looking graphics.

Expect to be dazzled by blistering loading times and immediate game availability when the ps5 events finally drop. It will definitely be a major focus of future Sony events to show how quickly games load (probably with stop watch timers on screen to drive home the SSD speeds)

I'm glad Cyberpunk probably won't be there. It's a waste of a slot. We've been hearing about it for so long. I'd rather we hear about something more recent or entirely new.

I am cautious also. I think the games will look good, but nothing mind blowing or generational leap. I am keeping expectation at medium, but not low cause c'mon its next gen!

I think the last generation that will have that "mind-blown" feeling was going from PS2/Xbox to PS360.

Diminishing returns already hit before PS4/XBO. Every generation from here on will likely just be slightly better than what we're used to. There's only so much further graphics can improve - nothing on the level of Atari to NES to Super NES to N64/PlayStation, etc.

Genuinely excited to see what ms are cooking up with these new studios they are in a great position at the moment with some great marketing and they've got some really good momentum going into next gen .

There's still a lot of graphical stuff that can be done but we probably will be drip fed those features over future generations. If we could accelerate things and get a lot of those features now it would definitely seem like a leap.

Thank God for Microsoft and their willingness to show off next gen stuff this week. Without MS the wait for next gen games would be even more unbearable as it is.

Looking forward to Sony as well which i'm sure will happen soon enough (SOONY ? lol)

Got this feeling we are in for a treat when the covers are taken off next gen.

I do respect Microsoft for showing us more over this time and although.i prefer sonys machine, i am a little excited at what they have to offer. I do think that there will be a few exclusives shown off and hope we see in game footage.

Wonder if valhalla on xsx will just look like maxed odyssey on pc and nothing more, sure clean crisp image sure 4k , but will it be real step forward or just enhanced existing thing.

Go on Phil. Give us a AAA 3rd party day 1 GamePass release. I'm certain they will cook something up, maybe not this Thursday, but in the coming months latest.

I think it will look much better and locked 60fps@4k

I just want games locked at 60 fps? I was playing jedi fallen order and the game seems grat but it doesn't hold 60 or 30 fps. Any resolution is great but just give me that 60 fps.
