Very solid show. Slowed down a bit at the end but was interesting throughout.
But no surprises or real highlight that blew me away

Everything was as expected and looked as expected.

Halo Wars 2 on PC is nice, but if MS really wanted to show their commitment to PC gamers, MCC on PC would've been the better choice IMO.

it is on PC via streaming from Xbox One to PC ;) If they release the X1's exclusive mega lords on PC they'd be killing their possibilities of people buying the console?

Your argument was that there was "nothing there" for people disinterested in MS core franchises... Clearly... There was stuff there that were not MS core franchises, just saying...

Does the fact that DSIII being available on multiple platforms disqualify it from being for people who aren't into MS core franchises?

Please tell me "yes". Please.
Did they show enough to make me want to buy into their product? No, no they didn't. It's clear that MS know how to cater to their core, but they continue to do little to make me think their console is a good investment if I have no interest in their usual IP. Sony has had the same problem this generation, relying too much on remasters and IP from last generation.

And of course, if I can buy DSIII on a platform that offers a more diverse catalogue of titles (to my taste ) then of course it's showing here today isn't necessarily going to make me run out and purchase an Xbox.

Lol guys what happened to that re7 and silent hills buyout? All jokes aside, scalebound looks good and looks like the type of game Microsoft needs to diversify their portfolio.

The Halo edition console is $499 and includes:

Custom 1TB Xbox One console
Custom Xbox One wireless controller with 3.5mm headset jack
Spartan-themed SteelBook case with Halo 5: Guardians Limited Edition full game download
Guardian model by Metal Earth
Exclusive DLC: Warzone REQ Bundle and more

Did they said anything about the cloud? I missed it.

100% destruction requires online connection. I can see this being a shared world type of game possibly with the ability to opt out of people joining into your game.

Physics calcs are too intensive for a console or single computer to handle. Requires offloading the calculations and have the XBL Compute farm send back positioning for each particle. They don't do the rendering just the positioning.

Scalebound looks interesting, it's peaked my interest for a first look, it wasn't as all over the place crazy fighting as I expected a platinum game to be. While we didn't see a lot of Crackdown going off the last two it will be awesome to play with a friend. The rest of the conference up to Tomb Raider I can't remember, speaking of, I wish they would stop talking about tombs in Tomb Raider if they are going to actually show one off. For a second I thought they were going to as well, but then we got Lara getting chased by a helicopter and falling off things, then what seemed to be her entering a tomb, I fear they will be just the same as the last game.

It's nice to see Halo Wars again, I really enjoyed the first one even though it wasn't the greatest of games, it worked well and was fun as a co-op strategy game as well.

Though that takes me to another point, I wish MS would move past having to rely on Gears, Halo, and Forza. We had Halo/Forza last years holiday, Halo/Forza/Gears this years holiday, and I suspect a Forza Horizon 3 is coming which means Halo/Forza/Gears next year.

What was a better Gamescom for Xbox?
How is Esports a negative?
How was EA Access a negative?
How was DVR a negative?

I can agree on Tomb Raider, but that is still not that much of a low.

I think the crowd reaction to the DVR and Esports segments speaks far better for that than I could. The EA Access thing was more in a personal level. The fact that they were gleefully advertising the fact that a subscription service will discount microtransactions really really rubs me the wrong way. Comes off as extremely scummy to me.

Once again a voucher instead of a retail copy. What is the Guardian Model tho?

That's too much to not even come with the physical game.

*edit

I guess the model might make it worth it if you are into collecting. The say seem to charge a premium for any Halo collectible though.

Agreed.

I've been burnt out on Halo and Gears for a while now, and Forza does nothing for me. Scale bound and QB look neat, but it's not enough to push me over the edge. I may have to reluctantly jump in this fall, so I can push my Rock Band library forward, but nothing else is really setting my world on fire.

I cant even. What's with all the negativity in everything? I feel like people are trying to find a fault in everything.

Crackdown 3 looked amazing, finally showed us some of the cloud tech. Cant wait to see what it looks like further in.

Quantum Break, did they change the main guy? Im confused? Looks frantic and stylish, definately going to be picking it up.

Scalebound looked a bit clunky this early on, but riding a dragon in an rpg? Count me in.

Forza 6, quietly showed Nurburgring in the wet and online racing leagues based on professionalism with prizes!

Just Cause 3 looks amazing, Halo 5 MP looks awesome. Hate esports me, but I know so many people who love it.

How can anyone say DVR is a negative? Thats amazing, definately be using that.

Wished the showed the UI more and less indie and more big game time... but this thread.

Edit: Totally forgot about Halo Wars 2. Yes!

I don't see the situation for Xbox in Germany changing with the games they've shown/announced which I'm OK with since I'm probably gonna get the Xbox One with Scalebound for €200 when the game comes out.

Was an Ok conference for me. QB went from buy to probably a pass, just wasn't feeling it. Crackdown, Scalebound and Forza will buy; probably Halo Wars 2.

My big take-away was the visuals and mo-cap for Quantum Break.

I like how Remedy and Quantic Dream really seem to go back-and-forth with their amazing character/performance capture tech.

I'm hoping for the sake of the show they added more of the 'shoot-bang' elements just to keep the audience engaged, but I want to see more exploration aspects. Those aspects of Alan Wake, for example, were some of my favorite parts easily.

Scalebound... yeah... I mean I have confidence it will end up as a good game, but the main character seems obnoxious. That could be a deal-breaker for me. I could deal with the smarmy-one liners of Dante in DmC because the art direction was so solid & the action was top-notch. Not really liking the art direction for Scalebound.
I'll always give Kamiya the benefit of the doubt, though.

Tomb Raider just looks bad to me, but that's purely on S-E & CD, not MS. I just don't like how they've reimagined this entire series. Lara was fun as a smart, but cheeky, relic hunter that occasionally had to pull out her pistols and flipping skills against wolves (and a TRex :p). Stealth kills, neck snaps, shotgun blasts to the face, waves of heavily armed troops? No. Not crazy about it.

I'm not a Halo or Crackdown fan, so I give the show a 7/10.
If I did like those franchises obviously my opinion would be much higher. MS still seems committed to providing quality products each year. That's great for those that have invested in X1.

Agreed, no way I can afford all that plus the big multiplats. But I want them all !

I'm surprised that people enjoyed the conference so much. I thought everything shown looked weak, and the Halo eSports thing was an unending nightmare. Very disappointed that Quantum Break is pretty much just a cover shooter and that Scalebound looks so damn slow. Puzzled that their big one more thing was a Halo Wars sequel and that they chose to highlight the shitty looking Homefront sequel.

At least they showed up, I guess.

Wow, MS really took a page from Sony's book regarding pacing! I'm not sure if it was the best decision to clump most of the exclusive reveals at the beginning of the show. There also seemed to be a lot of weird technical issues, at least from what I was seeing. Half of the games had visibly low framerates when on-screen, trailers randomly cut-in and cut-out, and the audio mixing was messed up, particularly for KI and FIFA! (It was kind of funny how the presenter for KI had to yell over the music quickly enough to beat the Battletoads reveal though)

Overall, I'd give the conference around a 7/10. The content was very good, and the demos for exclusives were definitely better than at E3 (aside from the Halo shoutcasting), but they did an awful job on the other aspects of the conference, and I was a bit disappointed they didn't announce any huge feature that would be coming with the new Windows 10 UI.

The dream lives on to get a first-person mode in Halo Wars 2!!!

Alien Isolation is awesome.

I forgot CA had more than one team. I was thinking only about Total War games, so I guess that explains things.

Pretty average conference, overall. Quantum Break got my attention now in a way it didn't in its previous teases. But the rest... meh.

Probably for the same reason Megaman starts his tenth adventure without any of the dozens of weapons he's absorbed previously, and why Samus doesn't start Metroid Prime with a couple of dozen nukes up her sleeve.

So Lara sprains her ankle and gets amnesia after riding in a faulty elevator is what you're saying?

RIP my wallet. Packed out 2015 and 2016. How on earth can people be disappointed with this.

Interesting to see how that works out. Crazy feature to be sure.

There has to be an adventure component of Quantum Break, right? They haven't really shown anything but shoot-banging, and that's really not why we liked Alan Wake.

Pretty okay conference for me. QB looked fantastic. The other demos ranged from okay to meh. The middle segment was poorly paced. The Halo showing was decent but I was expecting some single player. TR was boring.

HW2 was a great surprising announcement. Overall, a decent 6/10 conference for me.

Everybody has different opinions and tastes. For me, 3rd party games looked more interesting out of all the showings.

probably not worth you reading any more xbox threads if this didn't move the needle.

Summer drought is inevitable then lol.

Who play games in Summer? Kids need to go outside!

The only game that blew me away was QB. Look absolutely fantastic. Everything else was just meh. I'm disappointed to what I saw from Scalebound. Probably I expected too much.

I don't understand it, either. This was a great showing, in my opinion. I get that everyone has different tastes, but I don't get how some people say these games look boring.

A lot of potential in there. We'll have to see if they are games ends up being at the top of genre, but in terms of good exclusives, I'd say for sure half of them will be worth the buy based on games all of the third party and 1st party exclusives from the competition that are going to be available... and that's very good. Microsoft has definitely bumped up on the exclusive output compared to the Xbox 360 days. I also like the fact that they span over different genres (for example we already got Ori, which was really good and it's a platformer). They just need to actually delivering. All it takes is one masterful game to get people to desire a console. For me that's Smash Bros every time a there's a new Nintendo console.

QB, Scalebound, Forza, Tomb Raider all look great. The Halo Wars announcement was a good one. Also liked that all GwG games work on X1.
Ways they could have improved:
Replaced the Esport Halo commentary with Halo Campaign footage.
Spread out Scalebound, QB and Crackdown
Shown a bit more of Crackdown.
The conference had a amazing start, boring middle and good ending. Felt like a Sony conference in terms of pacing lol.
8/10
