The only observation I would make IMHO as a very long-term gamer is that the finish, production costs on PlayStation's first party software always looks much higher, and feels like it should cost more, whether that is GT vs Forza or any other parallel being made of two overlapping first party games. so it wasn't a surprise to me they went with the price rise on their own without Xbox. Maybe if Xbox followed suit closely competition agencies would have said there was price fixing.
With the negative coverage PlayStation had over the price increase, and it happened before inflation started to bite, I won't be surprised if after xmas PlayStation rise game prices again to £80 to maintain the differential, knowing that the outrage has already happened - which they took - and so will have far less impact on a second rise. Don't get me wrong, the prices don't reflect the lower prices I pay for new/sealed games or am prepared to pay.
