but this isnt a mp3 or movie forum, it's a gaming forum, which means admitting you pirate games could be cause for a ban. well, current gen anyway, people seem to slide for playing roms and psx isos and stuff like that...

deflecting the issue ain't getting you anywhere, what other people are like doesn't excuse what you do.

i'd at least reconsider your reasons for copying software -- at least rental services have paid the cost back to the publisher/developer and associated employees. a copied version of that game benefits none of those people who depend on sales to have their budget (and salaries) increased for the next project/fiscal year.

and it's my opinion that being inconvenienced by a rental facility is the weakest excuse for copying games.

Theres no reason BB or Hollywood video needs to rip off customers like they do, the publishers do not care and let them charge crazy ammounts to rent out their software. If my modded system does end up getting banned, thats ok with me. I'll just buy another core for cheap and use it online. I own over 30 original 360 games ever since the system came out and I will continue to buy the games I'm going to actually sit down and spend time with online or off. I already have my Forza 2 prepaid and can't wait for it. The people here just need to quit acting like brats. They all pirate mp3s and movies like its nothing. Just take the stage6 thread as an example. People right there are admitting to watching pirated movies such as Spiderman 3 which is brand new in theaters. I'm on my 3rd console from MS because they suck at worksmanship an quality control. And yet I'll still continue to buy more games for the 360 until its lifetime is over. My live account is already paid off until July 2008.

This thread really makes you think about a lot. Out of everyone saying pirates are getting what they deserve (and I agree they are) how many have a copy of photoshop on their pc or at least one illegal mp3 on their pc.

The issue here is Xbox live and not the generalities of what constitutes piracy and what does not. The integrity of Live is compromised by the presence of modded consoles and pirated games.

And photoshop isn't at all a cheap piece of software. I'm frickin' reduced to using paint and printing software to alter images and adding captions to my projects.:lol Yet a hell of allot of people in this place seem to have access to photoshop,it makes you wonder.

Piracy isn't the main issue. Either way, people in this forum value the gaming industry more than the music, so they're likely to be more against one type of piracy...

What's wrong is taking a modded console onto live. That, and they're getting free achievement points... =(

Yeah I think that sucks,but what are you gonna do? I use to have a friend that had hundreds of PSX games,use to bring them over in a huge portfolio and brag. But did he ever play each games for more than 10 minutes? Nope. In the end he realized he wasn't enjoying the games and stopped doing this. I'm not about to rat anyone out who pirates stuff,whether theyre a friend or stranger. It may help the industry you cherish allot but I just don't bother involving myself with people's business like this. Its not worth my time to get involved in being this do good citizen. I could care less what theyre doing,I don't pirate games,so I have nothing to worry about when I hop on Live.:)

That's the problem with a lot of this thread. The generalized justification that "hey everyone else does it, so what's the problem?" And then when people admit to not doing it, they get on the defensive and start accusing people of prevarication.

it also only works on Samsung drives I believe, or maybe I'm mixing something up.

I don't understand why anyone would go through all this pain just to save a few quid (if there's anything at all to be saved).

With the original xbox there was a legitimate reason to mod, not this time.
