Mighty No. 9 review thread

Ahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

As one of the unlucky few that backed this game for too much, when are we supposed to get the rest of our physical stuff? All I've ever gotten was that tshirt and they haven't said a word about it since the survey in like November

Holy shit. I was kinda exited for this game, and avoided media coverage of it to the best of my ability.

What happened to this game? How does "let's remake a simply but awesome concept like Mega Man" turn into this?!

This is super sad. I was still hoping the game would be good since most complains were only about the graphics :( Oh well, I enjoyed the beta and I already paid for my backer 3DS version, so I'll still give it a chance whenever it hits my platform of choice, lol.

Wow, tough one for backers - what a disappointment. :(

I was looking forward to trying this out... but just like Mega Man, Maybe Mighty No. 9 2 will be better?

I can just imagine Keiji Inafune just gritting his teeth, reading the reviews and complaints for MN9, while nervously darting his eyes to the constantly ringing phone that might just be the business people that he made the merchandising deals with to "alter the deal further". In other words, Inafune is going to have a long, loong week ahead of him.

LONG

Seriously though, this is just plain sad all around. I mean my gosh it's unbelievable how bad this turned out.

I don't claim to know squat about game design, but you'd think the creator of mega man with 4 million dollars could pull something together much better than this, in his sleep.

What's with the bullshit DLC though? Game designers leaving big publishers to work on their own and still implementing the same crap?

The whole mighty no. 9 development has been a fiasco.

To everyone knocking crowdfunding:

Don't.

Instead - focus your efforts on the following:

Read KS pitch. Look at asking price. Read developer name. Completely ignore the relation between what was promised and what was asked in favor of someone's name.

That's the heart of the problem. There were so many red flags I don't even know where to begin. It's not the fault of KS the blatantly obvious was missed thanks to donning a pair of blinders based on someone's name. I don't like talking shit about another dev but it's not KS fault in the slightest.

Don't back campaigns that scream "we don't know what we are doing". You'll be better off.

It's really sad how this game is most likely going to permanently damage Kickstarter's image. Because of MN9 ending up as a mediocre turd, now there's a bunch of people out there saying "THIS WILL BE THE LAST KICKSTARTER I BACK" and "NEVER TRUST KICKSTARTER PROJECTS EVER", which I think is a shame because games like Bloodstained and Yooka-Laylee are looking pretty great.

It just all depends on who you're backing.

I think there are more than enough successes to outweigh the failures.

Honestly anyone who is deterred by this probably shouldn't be putting thier cash down anyway. Not every project will turn out well, if you can't deal with it you shouldn't be backing.

I always felt it was really unfortunate that Mega Man fans would antagonize Capcom's fighting games like SF and MVC and put the blame on them for the lack of new MM games.

Granted, a lot of the backlash against Marvel kinda made sense considering UMVC3 was announced literally right after MML3 was canceled and well, didn't include Mega Man as a playable character, though that was obviously just a bad coincidence.

Press got really mad when Broken Age backers got keys for part 1 before their embargo dropped, so that's a smart decision for PR purposes.

The backers should have the keys before the press. I don't even under the logic in the press getting them first.

I only backed this and Kung Fury and I highly regret both of it. MN9 is nothing what they promised. Even though the gameplay was kind of fun in the demo they released the visuals and horrible art just ruins the whole game. There are tons of free mobile games that look way better than MN9

(Kung Fury was great, but it's over 1 year since the film was released and still no sign of the promised bluray - which will not even be exclusive anymore)

God, I remember thinking this Kickstarter was just the ultimate "Fuck you" to Capcom. I was so excited. I loved classic Mega Man as a kid, and at the time it really seemed like the series was dead, so I put in like $45 bucks.

I suppose I should be grateful to MN9 because it allowed me to dip my toes into the crowdfunding pool which made me less hesitant to back other games that look like they're gonna end up being WAY better (like Shantae), but I really do hope that Inafune doesn't think he can go back to the KS well the next time he has some grand idea for a new franchise. He's burned every single ounce of goodwill that he got.

He got $4 million from everyone who participated in this suckerstarter, he's going to be doing OK.
