So I guess zombies can climb ladders. That's information that would have been useful to me about 5 minutes ago. I guess I just assumed they couldn't.

Hell, I've seen creepers climb ladders. Make sure you put a door in front of it.

I have had zombies climb ladder with no problem. Creepers? Never seen it happen, but not saying they don't.

I don't think Creeper AI makes them consciously climb ladders, but if there happens to be a ladder on the wall they're humping to try to get straight at their target they'll climb it.

Hopped onto Exano's server last night, just for a few minutes to explore what you guys had built. Pretty intimidating how much you guys have already. Were the materials all mined legit, or did you guys spawn stuff? In any of my single player games, I don't feel like I ever had enough iron for nearly that long of a rail system, but I guess there weren't other folks mining as well.

Tempted to start a project off somewhere to the east (two different ones really), but I don't feel I have the time to commit to getting serious with it.

We're taking donations for the railways again.

If you want to donate to South and East railway (Which are going to be going up over tonight and tomorrow, hopefully) as well as the subdirections it'd be greatly appreciated.

To donate:
Go to blue station, and grab a storage minecart out of the chest.
Place the minecart on the tracks, fill it with what you wish to donate.
Switch the destination toggle to "Donation"
Hit the booster.
Walk away and be happy you're helping make Survival Gaf's Railways :p

The storage carts are depositing the materials into my locked chests, so nobody can steal what you donate. :)

Construction on the south line will def be done tonight so people can have easy access from spawn to the battle area :D

Wooden and cobble stone half blocks to add some more options for your designs.
New save file format. With the new format, loading is now seven times faster. On top of that, the number of files for each saved world is drastically decreased. This new format will not destroy your current saves, as they will be converted the first time they are loaded.
New Minecraft launcher. This is a great communication tool for us as we will be able to give you guys important information directly in the launcher.
Various bug fixes!
New block! This is a sweet one for you red stone junkies. A block that acts as a signal carrier, much like red stone. But on top of that, it also acts as a repeater AND a programmable delayer.
Secret update! Oh, yes. There will be that as well.

I might have to try out exano's server pretty soon. I'm pretty much finished my first survival multiplayer map. It was fucked up by the biomes and is starting to lose some of its lustre. I did manage to build a bunch of cool shit, including my 1 to 1 scale dragon temple from breath of fire. Maybe MP will rekindle the love <3

Hard to tell, the fact that there's almost ZERO lag in the sounds makes me think it's edited. I suppose though that he could have gone into the .jar and changed the some of the note files to be the drums and hi hats...who knows...

I don't think the rave one can possibly be real. The redstone torches down there are completely out of beat with the actual song. If they were out of sync, sure, there is obviously lag before the signal gets to the note block, but they're not even doing the same thing as the song.

Just finished the South station, and with it the Yellow station.

To get to south station go to the Yellow station (it faces blue station, its to west of spawn)
and select "South Point" as the destination.

This allows easy access to the PvP area, as it drops you off literally in front of it.

:D

I'm still taking donations in teh same spot for the East station as well as the NE, SE, SW, NW stations.

Is it possible to run out of minecarts to ride? Or do they automatically go back into the chests holding them?

I love these rail stations, I have been spending quiet a bit of time just messing with the mod specifically.

Actually, I could see it as being possible. The problem is that you can't really send an empty cart back to where it came from, due to them stalling out when they hit an inactive chunk. So, if everybody goes from Station A to Station B, but never the other way around, then all the carts will end up stockpiled at Station B.

Is it possible? Yes.
Is it likely? No, they each have a good bit in them, and I restock them daily with the carts that get captured. They're also locked to me and admins

Had a look around Exano's server last night, and you guys have made some insane stuff. Very impressive. Think I'll head to a location and start working on something tonight. What station is being worked on at the minute? Wouldn't mind heading down that direction and getting setup near what will be the train station if it's sort of untouched land.

Even at North Point (the first satellite station built) there is a whole bunch of untouched land. Just loop around and go to the other side of the ocean behind the station and you'll be golden.

  • Notch mentioned that he wants you to be able to invite people to your own world, so maybe that multiplayer aspect will be easier in the future.
  • Apparently also the torch->lantern thing is still planned in the future, since Notch thinks torches are too cheap.
  • Notch thinks some sort of metal-detector-ish item would be nice for finding minerals.
  • Notch doesn't like the idea of a minimap, I think?

  • Notch would consider the idea of an "aether", perhaps if they could find a reason to go there, perhaps with floating islands (kind of like the nether is currently a different dimension).
  • Notch doesn't want to expand the octave range of the note blocks, but he thinks maybe adding new instruments, such as a deeper bass instrument, could work (and I guess allow different octaves to be supported in that sense).
  • Notch claims he's very good at spleefing (the game where you knock block out of under people).

They're breaking for lunch now, so someone else take over watching and reporting since I should probably eat too. :p

Been playing on Exano's server. Got about an infinite supply of eggs going, so if you need any, my mini-tower is not too far off from the drop-off at west station and there's a bunch there in an unlocked chest. Also, there's a zombie spawner near Exano's cottage 17 that I'll be trapping soon, so there will be an infinite supply of feathers at some point in the near future as well.

so anyone know where i can find a history/origins of minecraft?

i need some help since i plan on doing a speech on it for my class and yes i decided to do my speech on minecraft lol i couldnt think of anything else OK! >_>

figure first i'll talk about the history of it like how it started, how it became a hit, and add in sales etc etc

then i'll have a gameplay demo and show how to get started then end it with pictures/youtube sources of what else is possible

speaking of which anyone got suggestions for what to show from youtube/pictures?

Show some of the Let's Play's or X's Adventures. He was always awesome. A lot of them show the gameplay from the beginning. Then there's the countless large structures and musical arrangements. Pick a song you think everyone would love to see that has been redone in MC.

thanks! i need 3 sources anyway and was planning on using minecraft wiki as a source

hopefully one of those links from the wikipedia page works a source since i probably cant use the page itself as a source lol

I finally just bought the game a few hours ago. I'm failing horribly and loving it but I have an odd question. Is the game supposed to not let you look around while you are moving or is that something wrong on my end? I can look around just fine with the mouse while still but as soon as I start walking I can't look around.

No thats a curious problem.

Check control scheme, and also try a fresh install.

Make sure no macros are on also.

So I found about making machines that can do stuff, like kill mobs, process them, and put all their loot in one place for me to collect.

I tried making one, but something went horribly wrong that resulted in lava spilling all over my base. Luckily I used water to get rid of it, but now there's rocks everywhere that I have to dig out.

Maybe I shouldn't have tried to build the machine on top of my house.

Yeah, be extremely careful with lava. Not only is it a limited resource like iron (perhaps even more so?), but it can catch wood (and cloth?) on fire from two squares away, so it needs to be contained very carefully.

While Lava is rarer then Iron, its a bit easier to find IMO, due to it often showing up in caves in large amounts.

Penguinking just finished making a mob grinder in my basement. You should come check it out. To get to my house from spawn go through the giant sandstone gate and look to the left. You should see a house surrounded by cactus on top of a hill. Go into my basement and follow the signs. After standing at the collection point for a few minutes, all of a sudden a steady stream of mob drops will appear. In less than five minutes I collected about 40 sulphur, 30 arrows, 30 bones, 20 feathers, and about 15 string.

Thanks. Still having the issue but I think it's my touchpad on my laptop. I've never liked these things and I think it's screwing up the game somehow. I've been trying to get a mini ball or finger mouse.
